TTC after termination

We had to make the soul shattering decision to have a medical termination mid-April this year. We have been TTC since late May but with no success.

One of the things I’ve noticed is that my period since the termination has been much lighter and lasts for no more than 3 days. Before, I use to last about 4-5 days with a regular flow. Is this something I should worry about? Has anyone else experienced this and have been successful with their rainbow babe?

I track my ovulation and I’m still regular at every 28 days with LH surges which is when we TTC. I’m taking prenatal vitamins (Proceive Max, Coq10), exercising and eating healthily. What’s working against me is my age (41) and my partner has started smoking again due to the stress and grief since the termination- though trying to quit. Maybe stress for me too if I’m being honest due to the circumstances and looking after a very wonderful, energetic and spirited three year old. I’m trying to be hopeful but I’m waning.

I’d love to hear some success stories and solidarity to anyone that has been through something similar. It’s so so hard.

I'm sorry for what you've had to go through. Although not the same, I had surgery for a MMC at 12 weeks in Feb and my periods were noticeably lighter especially the first one. They started to get back to normal and I've fallen pregnant 4 cycles later. Your body maybe just needs a little bit of time, you've been through a lot.

@jellyfish2 thanks for your kind reply, and I’m so sorry you had to go through a MMC. I hope you are healing and congratulations on your pregnancy. Your comment has given me some hope

I had surgery for a mmc in 2022. After that I had very light and short 2-3 day periods (vs my usual medium 5 day flow). I was worried. I conceived three months later and it resulted in DS.

Good luck and I hope ttc goes well for you.

So sorry for your loss - it’s a horrible experience having to make that ‘choice’.

There is a large group of us who have been through this on here. If you post your question into our thread you’ll get a number of people who have also experienced tfmr reading and responding to your worry: Anyone else TTC after TFMR?

Hope that helps xx

(My personal experience was that my AF was different after my tfmr (heavier for a couple of days then very light and over more quickly) but I think there are many factors involved.
