Hi all, hoping for some help. I’ve been TTC 6 years and have had 3 failed rounds of ivf. I’ve had a bit of a cold and been feeling dizzy from 6-8dpo. I am only 9dpo and did a test with second urine of the day - confirmed 9dpo as I used ovulation sticks. Is this a positive or am I too early to get excited? Never seen a positive in 6 years xxx

My heart is breaking for you. 💔

Butterfly8719 · 12/08/2024 11:37

Thank you all. I still have all the symptoms and it’s truly heartbreaking, we went in so positively after seeing the fetal pole 2 weeks ago 💔 @Dreamer1987 did you have medical management? I don’t know whether to wait it out, take tablets or have a D&C? X

I had a D&C or ERPC because it was a suspected partial molar (but wasn’t, thankfully.) This was truely the best option for me as I went in to hospital about 7am, had the op about 1pm, and was home by 7pm recovering. I was on painkillers and didn’t feel pain - I felt more pain the night before as my body was having contractions. I had a week off work in bed just coming to terms with it all but physically I only needed a few days. I have spoken to several women who regretted taking the tablets as it’s much more drawn out and can be painful, but I obviously I can’t speak to the other options as I didn’t have them. But I can say that if I was to go through the same awful experience again I would ask for the ERPC. The care I received was incredibly kind and sensitive.

@Butterfly8719 so sorry to hear this. I have no words. Look after yourself xxx

@Butterfly8719 I am so sorry 💔
I know all too well how this feels. My most recent loss was at 10 weeks and resulted in surgical management. Feel free to message if you have any questions or want any advice x

Thank you ❤️ I’m so so sorry you experienced this too. I’m so nervous about the procedure as I’ve just had surgery and also been put to sleep so many times for ivf and I get such bad anxiety each time. Gosh why is this such a difficult decision. I just did a test in a hope it was faint so I’d have a natural miscarriage but it’s an absolute dye stealer so I think there’s no chance ☹️☹️💔💔

@Butterfly8719 I am so so sorry lovely, I've had two MMCs - they're bloody cruel. One I miscarried naturally and my experience was very straight forward and not painful. The second one I had a d&c and the recovery was also plain sailing.

I think medical management has more of a possibility of it not working properly. The days and weeks ahead are so tough, but I promise you'll come out the other side xx

So sorry for you, I've also been here after reaching 12 weeks 😓 it's heartbreaking. Can I ask how far along your supposed to be? 💔

Niiina · 12/08/2024 14:06

Oh @Butterfly8719 🤍 I am so so sorry to hear this! Sending so much love. Please look after yourself and let yourself feel all the feels. As a PP said, we're all here for support. I'm lost for words to be entirely honest xx

QuarterYellow · 12/08/2024 14:22

So very sorry lovely x

Butterfly8719 · 12/08/2024 14:36

Thank you all so much. Feel like I’m stuck in some wild nightmare. Still have all the symptoms and just doesn’t feel real. This is harder than all the failed IVF 😖 why why why.

Just did a test in the hope that my HCG might drop on its own so that I miscarry naturally. And there it is, the dye stealer I wanted so badly. Just goes to show they don’t tell us much 💔

I’m so sorry lovely. Was it a private scanning place or NHS? As there are protocols at an early stage that they need to see no heart beat at two scans a time apart before moving forward to exclude a very slow developing/wrong dates. Which just drags out the cruelness and unfairness. Sending you lots of hugs

BeachRide · 13/08/2024 12:59

I'm so sorry, OP. How heartbreaking xx Not helpful now, but there may be a time when you'll feel heartened by the fact you can get pregnant naturally and want to keep trying. For now, take every care xx

This is correct unless the baby measures over 7mm, then they can confirm it there and then with two sonographers if there's no heartbeat.

@Butterfly8719 I'm so sorry - I remember seeing those tests too knowing it wasn't going to work our 💔

it was NHS in the EPU, I had a scan 2 weeks ago where we saw fetal pole and everything measuring as should. Yesterday the gestational sack had grown but baby hadn’t, which I guess is why I’m still having such strong positive tests. It’s so cruel. I was so hopeful. I’ve been booked in for D&C and they say no need for another scan ☹️

I'm very sorry to read your update.

I've been in your position more than once and it's heartbreaking.

I'm glad to see you're having an ERPC. At least you'll know it's complete. But it's still a tragedy.
