Breastfeeding but now 8 days late on 2nd cycle, am I pregnant ?

Hey girls any thoughts on this?

I'm ebf my son he's 10.5 months .

Last month I had my first period since I had him. It was really light and lasted about a day or so. I had this weird feeling I might be pregnant.

I took a clear blue test and it showed a faint thin light but I concluded it was an evap line. I took other tests the next day or so and concluded I wasn't pregnant. So that was last month.

I am now 8 days late.

Should my period have come by now? Should I get another test. Or is this just normal?

When my periods came back whilst breastfeeding they were so erratic. It took a good few months to settle back into a reliable pattern.

But you never know until you test 🙂

pineapple03 · 29/06/2024 13:23

Are you taking any contraception or doing any “natural methods” or nothing? Cos that will influence the outcome for sure

Cas112 · 29/06/2024 13:54

Have you took a test since this missed one?

Irishwifey · 29/06/2024 14:34

Hey girls , I haven't taken any test since this missed one I know I prob should. I keep meaning to get to the shop To pick one up but was thinking it will probably just come but now I'm like 🤔 where is it?

I can't get a test till tomorrow so was just wondering if this would be common. My periods were so regular all my life if that's relevant.

Myself and hubby just use pull out method, no contraception otherwise

My periods were irregular after they returned each time (whilst still breastfeeding). Some cycles would be the expected length and others would be 50+ days! So totally normal to be ‘late’ in this circumstance, but worth doing a test if you suspect pregnancy!

SummerSun24 · 29/06/2024 14:38

Mine were very irregular when BF! However myself and DH used condoms and now TTC so used to be confident it was just the BF. Might be best to check!!

Updating I never got to
The shop today. Still no period. Absolutely hanging with exhaustion the last 2 days.

Have two smallies already and the only time I can ever remember this exhaustion was first trimester or when you're coming down with something. Having a birthday party for my eldest tomorrow so may not get to the shop then either. 😬

I don't know what to think

You really need to go out and buy a test

Have you not heard of Amazon? You could have had tests delivered by now.

Oldernotwiser44 · 29/06/2024 21:17

I would say you’re pregnant.
Didn’t you know you can only rely on breastfeeding as contraception for the first 6 months after giving birth?

She said they’ve been using the pull out method, but it might not have worked this time round as that method is not very effective if done during fertile window!

OP: get a test asap to be 100% sure!

Irishwifey · 29/06/2024 22:10

Thanks gals.

We live in the countryside in Ireland and Amazon takes 2-3 days to be delivered and with preparing for the party tomorrow I just didn't get a chance cos I would have had to load smallies into car etc.

Ya we've been using the pull out method for the passed 5 years and only ever got pregnant when we wanted to! And there was no slips that I'm aware of 🥴

I think I better send hubby to shop in the morning , I just really kept thinking it was gonna come and was probably normal on the second cycle but now I'm thinking 🤔 wait a second, this I'm now pretty much 9 days late.

Okay yeah thats fair enough! Keep us posted 😃 enjoy the party tomorrow! xo

HcbSS · 29/06/2024 22:32

If you really wanted to know you would find a way of getting there to get a test. The anxiety and anticipation would trump party planning and CBA to put children in the car.

cherrybl0ssom5 · 29/06/2024 22:36

It could just be your hormones trying to sort themselves, but I would say grab a test or two, otherwise you’ll just keep wondering as the days go by.

Even if your period comes before you test it’s good to have them for times like this, especially if you’re relying on pull out method

There's not much party planning. It's my 3 year olds birthday. And as I said above I've been exhausted the last two days. I've a just now three year old and an ebf 10.5 month old. My 3 year old
Was playing with the bouncy castle for the party. The house is a mess , we were making her cake . The days get away from you.

But anyway .....

The reason I posted here was to see if it was normal to be this late or skip a period as I knew there was no way I'd be going to the shop today.

@Irishwifey I hope you get the outcome you’re hoping for & happy birthday to your little one! 🥳❤️

Irishwifey · 30/06/2024 14:01

Update:

Fml got a test and no line in the control window so it didn't work.

None the less am I imagining a faint line. This is within the timeframe.

I had it in the urine stream so need to wait to build up more pee . Ugh

What do ye think

Like I think there is a faint line as light as the control line that's also barely there.

Any input ?

My second period after birth was 12 days late!

SummerSun24 · 30/06/2024 14:38

I can't believe your rotten luck @Irishwifey that there's no control line either 🥹 either way I don't think you can take the result as valid. Might be worth ordering some cheap ones from Amazon so you have a stash in future!

staybyyou · 30/06/2024 15:12

I tend to think if you were 9 days late then the test would be clearer. However it does look faulty.

Irishwifey · 30/06/2024 17:05

Ok holding my wee now for three hours , I'm gonna test but the only other one I have is a digital which I got in case the other was positive. But I don't know what to make of that one!

Just putting baby to sleep now on the boob upstairs Nd the party is in full swing downstairs !!! Fml 😂 so I'll take it once he's asleep.

Fingers crossed for an ACTUAL answer
