First Cycle TTC after MMC

rosecbrm · 14/06/2024 13:33

Hello ladies, I've just started my first cycle since having a MMC with surgical management in May. That was my second pregnancy and second miscarriage, first being in September 2023.

Going to start TTC again but with a much more relaxed approach (try to anyway!). Looking for anyone to share the journey with?

Baby dust to all xxx

Well it’s official. I am 1 day post ovulation. Anyone else with me?

Steffi12 · 06/07/2024 12:08

@Nic2908 I’m ovulating today I think! So not far behind you x

Nic2908 · 06/07/2024 15:59

@Steffi12 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈 baby coming your way 🤞

Steffi12 · 06/07/2024 16:55

Aww thank you!! Right back at you🌈✨🤞🏻 x

Mummysparrow · 06/07/2024 19:39

Just went to the toilet and had a slight bit of blood, so hoping this means my period is about to start! Never thought I would be so excited to have a period but it means I can start tracking and trying again after the TFMR

moosey89 · 06/07/2024 19:50

@Mummysparrow we find the wins when facing issues TTC! Glad you might be able to move forward soon, I feel so much better that my period is back after my most recent loss xx

13lucy · 07/07/2024 09:12

@Nic2908 @Steffi12 I ovulated in the last couple of days. FF puts me at 3 DPO but I'm not sure if that's correct as I got my LH peak 2 days ago!

@Steffi12 that must be so hard with friends who had babies around you due date. Sounds mad but my neighbours had a baby around the time we started trying and I see them growing up and nothing changing for us.

The specialist was helpful but didn't learn anything completely new. She wasn't concerned with anything but recommended tests for egg and sperm quality and APS just to rule that out. It's expensive though so going to ask my GP if they can support with any of it. She advised with TTC again that you do 3 times a week through your cycle and every other day in the fertile window to take the pressure off DH and so you don't have to track everything if you know when you usually ovulate. Not so easy with my irregular cycles though. She also said that anxiety reduction is really beneficial so I'm going to think about how I can do less tracking and also doing more yoga and meditation.

How have your weekends been?

Steffi12 · 07/07/2024 11:02

@13lucy ahh we’re all so close together in our cycles! I only just started using FF last month and found it a little off too but I’m not sure if it’s because I haven’t inputted enough stuff for it to be more accurate

And aww thank you, and that doesn’t sound mad at all! I’m exactly the same, I say this to my husband and he says not to compare but it’s hard not to.

And thanks so much for letting me know how you got on at your appointment. That’s great she wasn’t concerned but the unknown is hard isn’t it. I really hope your GP can help. I’ve actually booked a GP appointment through vitality insurance that I have through work as wasn’t getting very far with my normal GP. Shall see what they say and keep you updated if you like.
And thank you so much for letting me know the DTD schedule they suggested! Just last night I was googling about recommend schedules and getting lots of different answers 🙈 I could do with some anxiety reduction too so interesting she said it’s helpful I’ll try

Weekends been okay thank you, what about you? The only thing I am driving myself a little crazy about is our DTD schedule. Part of me is like what’s done is done and we tried. It’s just the thought of another month gone and maybe missed opportunities. We DTD 3 days before I ovulated and the day of ovulation. I wanted to DTD the day of my peak but husband fell asleep🙈 I know it only takes one and it’s a waiting game it’s just hard x

13lucy · 07/07/2024 21:36

@Steffi12 I think it uses what you enter each month to determine ovulation date. Do you get ovulation pains as that's why I think mine was the day earlier than it said on the chart.

Yes good that they weren't concerned but it just means the whole thing doesn't make sense. She said she used to telling people to lose weight/stop smoking or drinking but I'm healthy etc and it still didn't work out. Yes let me know what they say!

I think the main thing is covering your fertile window which sounds like you've done. I think especially when TTC takes a while you need to do it in a sustainable way 😂do you tell your DH when youre ovulating? I know some people don't to take the pressure off. I'm the same though and get anxiety about missing the fertile window or not doing it enough! Like you say, there's only so much we can control with it, regardless of how much we DTD!

Steffi12 · 07/07/2024 22:50

@13lucy ooh okay! I’ve only been using it the past 2 months so probably doesn’t have enough info to get mine correctly. I don’t normally, but this month I felt like I had pain on my left side but this could also be me looking into things too much as I don’t normally notice anything🙈 I’m just kinda going of the LH peak I had this month

Yeah I totally understand that, as much as you don’t want anything to be wrong, you kinda want answers on to why does it keeps happening. And yes for sure I’ll let you know how I get on ☺️

Aw yes thanks! Exactly that it’s trying to make it sustainable😆 I see threads where people have done it every other day of their whole cycle or every day of their fertile window and my DH just wouldn’t be down for that 🙈
No I didnt tell him this time when I saw the peak. I used to tell him last year after we were trying after our first MC and that made DTD very scheduled and to be honest got a bit of a chore, DH got fed up of my demands 🙈 the month I didn’t track in December ended up getting a BFP on NYE! (Sadly ended in our 2nd MC in Feb).

So part of me thinks I can leave the tracking but another big part almost needs to know what’s going on and like you get anxiety if I don’t. The first time I got pregnant I just stopped the pill and naively thought it would just happen and it didn’t. On month 5 of trying a friend gave me some of her left over LH strips and I used them one month not exactly sure of what I was doing but told DH when I had the peak. We only DTD that morning and the night after and that was it! Nothing else in my fertile window and got a BFP at the end of the cycle. So I’m torn as I’ve conceived when timing DTD with a peak and then been trying for 6months timing around peaks which didn’t work, to then have a month off tracking and it working x

13lucy · 08/07/2024 16:37

@Steffi12 hard not to overthink everything isn't it! I do wonder how many times it's acceptable to speak to my GP about it all...

Haha it can get a bit long. With my longer cycles and ovulation around day 20 it can go on and on. We usually end up doing every other day or so from CD10 until ovulation and then every day from peak until temp rise. Not sure how DH does it but I'm hoping he can keep it up! 😂 have you spoke to DH about it to see what would work best? If your cycle is regular you could just do a couple of times in your fertile window and I'm sure it'll be enough?

I wonder if it's just coincidence or not with what works out. For me I started running again and I was less into temping (almost forgot to do it a few times). Also doing more yoga and weights! Are you going to keep tracking for now?

rosecbrm · 09/07/2024 12:38

Hey all, hope everyone's ok!

10DPO for me and BFN, I feel like AF is going to show soon so I think that's me out for my first cycle back after my MMC, which I'm telling myself is ok and to be expected.

Hope everyone else is ok xx

I have been offline for a few days, CD8 for me and still bleeding. Just want my period to be over now.

I found this first period after the MMC very heavy and painful, i'm so drained from it.

13lucy · 09/07/2024 14:48

@rosecbrm sorry to hear that. It's horrible losing hope when you see BFN. I'm 3 or 4 DPO and already not enjoying the two week wait and overanalysing everything!

@Lovedatforme sorry you've been going through a lot with your period. I hope it ends soon for you.

Nic2908 · 10/07/2024 09:45

What’s the earliest that people have tested and gotten pregnant?

Steffi12 · 10/07/2024 13:21

Hi ladies! Sorry I’ve been a bit MIA, I’ve been ill the past few days and now someone at work has tested positive for covid so not sure if it’s that 🙉

@13lucy oh yes I’m the queen of overthinking! I think we should be able to ask them as many questions as we want I wouldn’t worry. I spoke to a lovely GP from vitality this morning but again sadly came up against the same brick wall. They too have to follow NHS guidelines and can only look into issues/treatment if or when I have a third. I’ll be honest ugly cried about that again!! I just feel so fobbed off and frustrated with the system. Hate just being told to wait and possibly go through another MC as if it’s some easy thing to deal with. Urgh!
The running sounds good though and the yoga and weights! Can only be good if it’s allowing you to relax a bit. I have carried on tracking BBT, which seems all normal for me, did wonder if being ill would make them higher and maybe it has but I’m happy with my graph so far. I stopped the LH strips a couple of days after my peak. Which wasn’t actually intentional, as I’ve been so ill I kinda forgot to do them🙉 I nearly did one this morning mind as just wanted to scratch the testing itch! The TTW is brutal
Also big props to you and your DH for your DTD schedule that’s impressive! My DH doesn’t like the pressure of the timing DTD around testing so he has said to just to it when I feel is the time. So yeah I haven’t told him about the testing this time and just tried to be subtle 😆 although in fairness to him, last month around the time I thought I was ovulating he put the effort in saying he thought it was around the right time and he was right! Did make me think he isn’t as unobservant as I think 😆 x

Steffi12 · 10/07/2024 13:22

@rosecbrm I’m so sorry to hear you think AF is coming. As you say, after the first cycle of trying it is okay it hasn’t happened this time, but it doesn’t make it any less sad and disappointing. Hope your doing okay and being kind to yourself x

@Lovedatforme again I’m so sorry your period has been so draining and hard this time. I hope it has eased or stopped for you. Also hope your doing okay and being kind to yourself x

Steffi12 · 10/07/2024 13:26

@Nic2908 the earliest I’ve had a positive is 10dpo. I took the test on a whim as didnt really think I was pregnant, it was the month I didn’t track anything so was a big lovely shock! Unsure if I would have gotten an earlier positive if I tested before then x

Nic2908 · 10/07/2024 13:28

I’m 5dpo today and time is draaaaggging!! 🙈🙈🙈🙈😁😁😁

Lovedatforme · 10/07/2024 14:23

Thanks ladies. I thought it was gone today but nope, more bleeding 🙃

Also think I'm coming down with something so not feeling the best.

Mummysparrow · 10/07/2024 18:11

Well after thinking period was starting last week, it just spotted on off for days and finally started today but it is a bit on the light side, lighter then my usual periods so not sure if this is it or whether it will get heavier. I am not sure I ovulated last month so wondering if that has affected it. I am thinking I will still count it as cd1.

Steffi12 · 10/07/2024 20:55

@Nic2908 ahh I know the feeling I’m 4dpo and feel like it’s been ages already! I nearly took an LH strip today even though I knew it wouldn’t give any answers, just wanted to scratch that testing itch 🙉 x

@Lovedatforme oh no I’m sorry to hear that! AF can be a right cow at times! Really hope it eases soon and you don’t become too ill. I’ve been terrible the past couple of days, being ill in summer seems worse somehow 😆 x

@Mummysparrow sorry to hear it’s been a strange cycle for you. It’s so annoying when our bodies play tricks on us. I once had spotting a couple of days before a period which then stopped for a day and then my period came full force. Doesn’t half mess with your head when you hear about implantation bleeding etc x

Mummysparrow · 10/07/2024 21:02

@Steffi12 we have all had that testing itch 😂 my symptom spotting is usually looking out for a metallic taste. I had it at 2dpo with my daughter and I had it early on with my last pregnancy too so I shall be looking out for that on the future 😂
Within 2 hours of saying my period was on the lighter side it has increased in flow now so definitely on cd1. As this is my first period since my TFMR I am unsure whether to TTC this month or not. I really want to but I also want my egg quality to be great as I am anxious about my eggs now after a chromosomal abnormality with the last pregnancy

Steffi12 · 10/07/2024 21:31

@Mummysparrow ahh yeah! I just wish you knew each month right at the time if you conceived or not, the waiting is the worst 🙉
And ooh that’s interesting! I can’t say with either of my pregnancies I noticed any out of the ordinary symptoms. I just get the same if I’m pregnant or my period arrives

I hope you are feeling okay with your period arriving. And oh yes I’m so so sorry to hear about your TFMR. And that’s such a difficult decision for you regarding when to start TTC’ing again. Did the hospital give you any guidance on that at all? X

13lucy · 14/07/2024 15:43

@Steffi12 sorry you've not been feeling well! COVID is definitely doing the rounds at the moment. It is so frustrating and I think the system is still set up for when people used to start trying earlier in life. I think now with the cost of living and both having to work full time it means not trying until later, and when it doesn't work out time starts to slip away so quickly but there's such limited support! I've ended up in tears as well about hitting dead ends, you're not alone. Decided we are going to have all the testing that was recommended in September if I don't fall pregnant by then. I can't have the APS test until then anyway so that's the current plan.

I've really managed to relax in the 2ww with the odd worry about not temping and if I've missed anything. It's a nice break though so would recommend! I'll start temping again as soon as AF starts.

That's good that he's been obervant! It must get a bit long for them at times 😂i guess it's a good thing my cycles are long so we have a big gap in between!

Trying not to overanalyze things at the moment. Think I'm due AF on Friday so expecting some triggering symptoms either way. Don't really have anything at the moment but think it's highly unlikely that I'd get pregnant this quickly when it took 6 cycles last time.
