TTC #2

Currently TTC number 2 and struggling after getting pregnant fairly easily with number 1 (on cycle 3)!
Thought I'd start a thread so we can all support each other. Anyone else on their TTC journey for number 2? I am currently on cycle 7 and have ruled myself out already as negative pregnancy test at 10DPO. Each month I convince myself that I am pregnant! Experienced a chemical at cycle 3 😩

@loveyababesx the symptom spotting is the worst, especially because so many early pregnancy symptoms are the same as pms. You're still a good few days out though, keeping everything crossed for you! This is my 9th month of trying, although it's not been 9 months of proper trying. It's tricky with a toddler! There's been times when he's been sick when I've been ovulating so we haven't properly tried that month if that makes sense. I do have a thyroid problem but I got it checked at the start of the year and seemed to be ok. I've decided I'll give it another month and then call the GP, just incase it's my thyroid causing any issues.

@SkaterChick do you know what, I had a lap at 18 and I got told I was infertile & I would need IVF to have a baby. At the time I was a bit upset, but I thought sod it it's not on my radar any time soon. I never used contraception with any of my boyfriends or my now husband & fast forward 14 years I found out I was pregnant (4 months before my wedding). I have heard that it happens a lot, so no idea why they tell people that, they should maybe say it would be harder I don't know?

Sorry to hear you've been trying 18 months, it takes over your life doesn't it? I'm only on cycle 3, but considering I didn't get pregnant for 14 years I don't think it will happen any time soon. Not like I was trying, but still.

I see you've not come on your period yet, so there's still hope! I did a test this morning with a boots early response & I've realised I hate those tests as they show up with a line for the first 5 mins then it disappears 😖

Have you done a FRER? X

Yeah she was shocked to say fbd least! But they were happy about it.

No frers, there not as easy to get hold off and are more expensive.
Im using internet cheapies that supposedly detect at the same rate but time will tell I suppose.
I've heard bad things about the boots early ones so I haven't bothered with those.

I ended up putting my moon cup in before I went out this morning so I didn't have to worry about coming on and when I've removed to see if it needs emptying this afternoon there was a small amount (like 1/4tsp) of bloody mucus that was bright red which im certain is that start of my period (due to it being so red and looking so like my regular periods)

loveyababesx · 19/09/2024 19:12

@RoseA89 absolutely! I've got horrendous pains this month, yesterday it felt like It was ramping up to full period & it's quite bad today. Feel like I'm defo out this month & im going to come on early as I don't remember this last time. There's definitely no harm in going to the doctors to get yourself checked over. I feel you with trying with a toddler 😅 it's a wild ride isn't it! Are you doing your temp or anything or just going from the app? X

@SkaterChick I think I need to step away from the internet cheapies as I do them faaaaaar too often. I did manage to get some FRER from Amazon, but I only use them when I am really close to my period. sorry to hear your period has arrived, sending hugs & hope next cycle is your cycle ❤️

RoseA89 · 19/09/2024 20:31

@loveyababesx it's so frustrating when you can feel your period coming, especially when it's earlier than normal. It definitely is a wild ride! I always feel quite down when I've got the BFN's then my period comes and I'm ok and just focus on the new cycle. But I'm getting really aware that we're getting close to the year mark. I need to stay off google because I end up diagnosing myself with things!

I've only done the clear blue ovulation kits but I was thinking about doing the temperature too this month. Have you ever done temping? I don't even know where to begin 😂

NattyPeer · 19/09/2024 22:18

loveyababesx · 19/09/2024 07:49

@NattyPeer oh sorry to hear that lovely, it's so disheartening isn't it? They tell us our whole lives that we must take contraception to avoid pregnancy, but nobody tells you how hard it is to actually get pregnant!

I guess in a way I feel lucky I have one, but it doesn't feel any less disappointing every time it's negative!

Do you use ovulation sticks? Think I'm going to invest in some next cycle. I managed to cover pretty much my whole fertile period though, so probs no point but I'll try anything at this point! X

Yeah I use ovulation strips and since June have done temping as I like to know I have definitely ovulated! I am lucky I have one too but still feel disheartened too!

Are you using ovulation strips and doing temping?

loveyababesx · 20/09/2024 07:29

@NattyPeer I think I'm going to start doing both tbh 🤣 said to myself I wouldn't get obsessed with ttc, but here I am!

@RoseA89 yep I'm the same, I just want my period to come now as I'm getting super bad period pains and had some spotting already! About to order myself a thermometer!

On to the next cycle 😪

RoseA89 · 20/09/2024 15:54

@NattyPeer how does temping work? I would like to try it but I've no clue what to do!

RoseA89 · 20/09/2024 15:55

@loveyababesx AF arrived for me today. Bang on time which I suppose is a good thing but I was hoping otherwise. Onto the next cycle 🤞🏼

loveyababesx · 20/09/2024 15:58

@RoseA89 aww sorry lovely! I've tested negative again today, so I'm just waiting for mine to arrive now! On to the next

RoseA89 · 20/09/2024 17:09

@loveyababesx thank you, at least I had prepared for it with all the BFN's 😂
It's still early, I'm keeping everything crossed for you for this cycle 🍀

loveyababesx · 20/09/2024 17:44

@RoseA89 I'm 11 dpo today, so I don't have high hopes tbh & I've had really bad cramping which is definitely AF ramping up 🫠

Sending you all the posy vibes for the next cycle ❤️

I am 7dpo today and feel no different! Also my temperature isn’t as high as it has been previously so think I am out already!

@RoseA89 I have only been doing it since June and you are supposed to do it at the same time each morning before getting out of bed and before talking. It can confirm ovulation as your temperature should stay raised three days after ovulation. Apparently is can confirm pregnancy but your temperature would be raised for 18 days after ovulation! I don’t always do it at the same time each morning to be honest!

@NattyPeer you've still got a while yet & I didn't get any symptoms at all with my first so you're definitely in with a chance!

@loveyababesx with my other pregnancies I was very fatigued and tender breasts but I know all pregnancies are different but I just know if that makes sense. I would be very surprised if I was pregnant to be honest!

I’m on cycle day 3 and am happy I’ve got either work or other plans for most of this cycle’s 2 week wait, so hopefully will be less obsessed with testing than last cycle.

My luteal phase is also not actually 14 days, but more like 11. Is anyone else like that? I am going to start trying to extend it with supplements and lifestyle choices, as I don’t want it to impact fertility.

Mine was like that and then I started taking L-Arginine and Vitamin E and that has seemed to have lengthened my luteal phase

I’m due to ovulate tomorrow or day after I think…. Trying to uk equivalent of the mucinex theory this month! We shall see!

MyGardenDaisies · 22/09/2024 00:02

@NattyPeer thank you for sharing!
Instarted a pre conception multivitamin today that contains vitamin E, and will read about the other ingredient

NattyPeer · 22/09/2024 16:17

@NattyPeer sorry about your BFN. I hope you're ok, it's tough ❤️ Do you think you could still have a chance this month? I'm onto a new cycle now.

@NattyPeer I know exactly how you feel! DH and I have decided we will give it another month and then contact the GP. It's a scary thought, I never thought the road to #2 would look like this.

MyGardenDaisies · 22/09/2024 21:44

What are you all doing as part of your TTC other than sex?

ovulation tracking/ supplements / lifestyle changes?

I have the CB digital ovulation kit, supplements, testing my thyroid levels, cutting down coffee and trying to do more things that bring me peace rather than stress.

How do you test your thyroid levels? I am doing the same as you but I need to do more exercise like yoga as I have fallen off doing this now. I am not overweight or anything but exercise is good for everyone isn’t it.

It’s hard isn’t it! I have already contacted the GP this month, have blood tests booked next month / early November as you need two blood tests. I already had an ultrasound in June as they wanted to rule out an ectopic but all was ok in there!!! I think yeah give it another month and then get the ball rolling.
