Currently TTC number 2 and struggling after getting pregnant fairly easily with number 1 (on cycle 3)!
Thought I'd start a thread so we can all support each other. Anyone else on their TTC journey for number 2? I am currently on cycle 7 and have ruled myself out already as negative pregnancy test at 10DPO. Each month I convince myself that I am pregnant! Experienced a chemical at cycle 3 😩

@Xxfifixx89 congratulations, I hope it all goes well for you. It’s great to hear it has happened quickly for you.

@NattyPeer I used easy@home lh tests and also bbt. I knew I usually ovulated around day 18 so from day 12 I did the lh tests twice a day. Then bbt was mostly to confirm I had ovulated, I found bbt easier and less time consuming than the ovulation tests because it was just checking at 6am each morning. Also I enjoyed seeing the graphs in the fertility friend app.

I am really glad I did the lh tests though because the month I conceived I didn’t ovulate until day 24. I don’t usually ovulate late but I had a sore throat at the start of my cycle so maybe that delayed it? I don’t know, but if I had not have used the lh tests I wouldn’t have ds now. We usually dtd until I see ewcm and then just assume ovulation occurs (which also happens around day 17/18) and then we don’t dtd after that. That cycle when I was late the ewcm was at the right time, and then I didn’t ovulate until 6 days after that.

Blue2020 · 23/05/2024 21:10

@NattyPeer yes the mmc was hard. It was my first pregnancy so I had a false sense of security thinking getting pregnant = baby. I was in for a shock. I didn’t enjoy my second pregnancy until after 20 weeks because I was convinced I would just lose it again. The only positive I take from it all is that I wouldn’t have ds (as he is) if I didn’t have the mmc because I conceived him three months later.

Mummio92 · 24/05/2024 06:46

@Blue2020 @Sevillegarden Welcome! Great to have more of us in the same boat.

@NattyPeer As Blue mentioned, BBT only confirms that you have ov’ed so once you get the temperature rise you wouldn’t be fertile anymore, that’s why it’s useful to use OPKs as well (or monitoring CM).
The month just gone I had a sickness bug right when I was about to Ov and it must’ve delayed it happening, but fortunately the lack of temperature rise clued me in so we continued dtd until I actually Ov’ed a week later than expected. Without temping, we’d have likely timed things wrong and also I would’ve mistakenly thought my period was late and gotten hopes up ( I personally prefer period arriving than seeing the blank white preg tests!)
I think the probably the best thing to make sure you hit the fertile window is to dtd every other day between end of period and temp rise.

Hey all Grin glad to see this thread. TTC #2 and just had AF arrive so that's me out this cycle. Struggling a bit mentally with this one as we were lucky enough to conceive straight away with our first (who is now 5) but we are on cycle 7 now and nothing seems to be happening.

I'm 36 and worried I've left it too late, we always said we would wait til our little one was at school before we tried again due to money / jobs / life but now we've decided we want another one I'm struggling with how long it's taking and thinking it might not happen. Doesn't help that our 5 year old is constantly asking for a sibling and I keep seeing pregnant people everywhere.

Anyway rant over - how's everyone doing?

This is really good to know! I get so confused with it all haha! I have started temping this month so will see how that goes! So when you see the ewcm does that mean ovulation has already occurred?

This is really helpful! Thank you! I actually didn’t know that once the temp rises ovulation has already occurred haha! Yes the blank white tests do put a downer on things but then I am impatient haha!

Heyyyy welcome! We seem to be on similar journeys! AF started yesterday for me so I am out too but I knew I was anyway! I’m right with you re struggling mentally! I am also in the same boat with thinking it won’t happen and I desperately want a sibling for my DD!

I also keep seeing people pregnant and I guess when we were pregnant that was how so many other people may have been feeling at the time! I really hope we all conceive.

It would be good to keep this thread going!

Does anyone know what there luteal phase is?

OP posts:
Mummio92 · 25/05/2024 20:18

@NattyPeer ewcm comes in the lead up to Ov so it’s a good sign that you are fertile and should get down to business! Unfortunately I don’t seem to get much of it so have started taking evening primrose oil this month which supposedly helps 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yeah in order to officially confirm Ov has happened you’d be looking for 3 temps that are higher than the previous 6 by about 0.2 degrees or so so for e.g. if you’re usual BBT is around 36.45 then once Ov happens it might jump to 36.65 or higher. Usually the apps will let you know though.

@LemonBitter Hey! It’s really tough when it doesn’t happen as fast as you’d like isn’t it. I expected it to take a while since we were about 8 cycles first time round but even still I’m getting impatient. And yep I feel like everyone I know is pregnant!
I’m sure you haven’t left it too late though, will just be a matter of time.

LemonBitter · 26/05/2024 16:21

@NattyPeer seems like our cycles are matched up haha, I'm the same so desperate for a sibling now and feeling guilty they don't have one yet 😔

@Mummio92 it feels like it's really dragging and it's hard not to wish your life away wanting to get to the next fertile window!!

Mummio92 · 27/05/2024 20:19

@LemonBitter I can really relate to the feeling of wishing your life away, and I find it really tough planning anything in the future and thinking ‘well what if I can’t do that because I’m pregnant’ or ‘we might have a newborn then so we better wait and see’

LemonBitter · 27/05/2024 21:01

This is literally all I'm doing at the minute @Mummio92 it's so hard. We've just booked a holiday for January and I'm hoping to be pregnant then but 🤷🏼‍♀️

Are you going to do anything different this cycle?

Mummio92 · 27/05/2024 21:13

@LemonBitter quite a while to go before January so that seems a reasonable assumption!
I found it disappointing the other month realising that it’s no longer possible for baby #2 to be born in 2024.

I’m just taking some vitamins that I’ve read are good for increasing ewcm and lengthening the luteal phase as mine has been only 10 days roughly which I hear can make it harder to implantation to take place. So vitamin c & b6 plus evening primrose oil. We’ll see what happens, at least BBT should give me a clear indication of whether it helps with LP lengthening.

How about you, are you trying anything?

NattyPeer · 03/06/2024 20:13

How is everyone getting on? the group has gone a bit quiet so thought I would see how you all are!

is anyone taking any vitamins?

OP posts:
LemonBitter · 03/06/2024 20:23

Heyyyy 😃 sorry I missed your message somehow @Mummio92... I'm only taking vitamin d, I'm wondering if I should start taking folic acid but feel like I'm tempting fate?

Just entering fertile window now.. apps say ovulation Friday but I use the easy at home strips and the last few months I've had my peak the day after the apps have predicted ovulation so I'm just trying to work out tactics... thinking of DTD tomorrow Thursday Friday Saturday? 🥴 or maybe skip one and add Sunday in? I don't know much about frequency and sperm quality...

I'm honestly getting less confident as the cycles go on 😭

How are you getting on @NattyPeer ?

NattyPeer · 03/06/2024 21:08

@LemonBitter i am taking folic acid as well! And some other vitamins including vitamin d, Zinc, iron!

I am the same re getting less confident as the months go by! My app predicts ovulation on Saturday so we are so close in our fertile window haha! So I read that doing it 2 days before ovulation day is also good (dunno how true that is haha). It is hard to know isn’t it!

OP posts:
LemonBitter · 03/06/2024 22:05

@NattyPeer 2 days before sounds sensible.. are you trying to do a few days in a row or leaving a gap? It's so hard to know!!!

Feels like everyone is getting pregnant around me as well.. I'm so impatient and just want it to happen now but it doesn't seem to be 😭

Mummio92 · 04/06/2024 06:43

@LemonBitter @NattyPeer
my predicted ov is Sunday so looks like we could all be headed into the 2ww together next week.

To cover all bases we’ll probably aim for every other day in fertile window and every day from when I get a high OPK until my temp rises.
If you don’t monitor BBT however then wise to add in some more in the days after predicted ov just in case it’s later than expected.

When I last got pregnant, I had been taking vitamins and various things for months and then I got sick of them so stopped .. conceived that month 😂

NattyPeer · 04/06/2024 21:39

@LemonBitter trying every other day but can’t actually do the two days before as partner is away for work!

@Mummio92 Aww yay will be good to go through the TWW all together! Surely it has to result in at least one of us having a positive! I have started BBT this cycle so will be interesting to see!

OP posts:
LemonBitter · 05/06/2024 15:59

Aw it will be good to be in it together @Mummio92 @NattyPeer .

Yeah I don't track BBT actually, I'm thinking if I'm out again this cycle it's one to try on the next!

LemonBitter · 08/06/2024 11:23

How's it going everyone?

Did an easy at home ovulation test this morning and not at my peak yet.. it's usually CD14 which is today so going to test a bit later....

Mummio92 · 08/06/2024 13:01

@LemonBitter good idea testing multiple times a day now as I find the surge can spring up on you, are your OPKs getting darker?
I peaked on Thursday and had temp rise this morning to confirm O was yesterday so here we go again, back in the tww- thankfully going on holiday Friday so the second half of the wait will hopefully have too much distraction to be overanalysing!

LemonBitter · 08/06/2024 13:23

Ohh that's so good you've got a distraction @Mummio92 .. did you manage to DTD over ovulation time? I don't temperature test (might next month) but my peak tends to come out of the blue without much build up so I think I need to keep testing 🥴 will DTD tonight either way I think!!!

Mummio92 · 08/06/2024 13:48

@LemonBitter we managed to dtd 2 days before and 1 day before O, was hoping to hit O day itself but had a big family party that ended late - sometimes sleep wins out 😂

Fingers crossed both our efforts will be worth it!

When you were pregnant first time round were there any signs in the tww? I felt nauseous and headachey at 9dpo and got a bfp that same day, so now anytime I get a hint of a headache in the tww I start getting hopeful (annoying as I’m very prone to headaches generally)

LemonBitter · 08/06/2024 16:03

That's still pretty good I would say - in with a good chance!!

I'm pretty sure I felt implantation the first time - had some really sharp pains in my side. That was the first time I thought I was in with a chance as I wasn't using OPKs and we only DTD once and that was the day after flo said I ovulated so I assumed we were out...

Wow 9DPO is early - if that happens again you haven't got too long to wait at all!!

HRHXO · 08/06/2024 16:09

Hi all, I'm currently ttc baby no2. DS is 21m actual and we feel ready. I had peak on my ovulation tests yesterday and they've gone straight back to low today so assuming I should ovulate today. We've only managed to DTD once this cycle as DS has been poorly, we did it last night on peak day so fingers crossed that's enough. Anyone concieved by DTD just the once? I know it only takes once but I usually like to cover a few more days!
