Hello all

Back on the conception boards after about a year off following two losses (one in 2022, one in January 2023)

My partner and I have decided to start trying again, and hope 2024 is the year we get our BFP and our baby

This will be my first baby, and I wanted somewhere to document testing and symptoms and hopes - please feel free to join me! 🩷

Hello!

So sorry for your losses. All the best for your journey in 2024.

Really hoping this is the year for our BFPs! I came off the pill in October so only had 1 proper month of ttc so far and got my period on Xmas day so out this month! This will be my first too.

Should be ovulating in 2 weeks.

Hopingrae · 01/01/2024 22:05

Hi @ElleBelleLou @Poppypear I'll join you both!
So sorry for your previous losses @ElleBelleLou .
I have a DS who is 2. We're TTC#2 and I've just had 2 losses in a row first in August and then another at beginning of December. It's been so hard but DH and I are hoping it's just been very bad luck and we're keen to crack on with TTC again. I'm 39 so very conscious of time too!
I'm currently on CD4, and usually ovulate around CD13...upping my exercise following Christmas, but otherwise not doing anything different other than the usual pre pregnancy vitamins at the mo :)

doingitbythebookthistime · 01/01/2024 22:20

Joining if that's ok!Grin

We had a MC Dec 2022, we've been 'loosely' trying since then with no luck, by that I mean trying having sex a few times a month and not tracking ovulation etc.

Currently in our 1st 2WW after using ovulation sticks for the first time (4DPO). Also found out from these sticks that I ovulate quite late in my cycle, which could be where I was going wrong before.

Fingers crossed 2024 is our year 🤞🏻🤞🏻

hopingforapeainapod · 01/01/2024 22:23

Hi all, also jumping on this thread! Have been ttc baby number 1 for a year now, all tests etc have come back normal (doctor even told me I have a ‘textbook uterus!’) and so we are now under the unexplained infertility diagnosis. Have never had a positive pregnancy test and struggling not to feel disheartened. Really sorry for your losses all - hopefully 2024 will be our year 🤞🤞🤞

nervousn3lly · 01/01/2024 22:53

Hi I'd love to jump up too

I'm sorry for everyone's losses and unexplained fertility isn't ttc such a rollercoaster and living in 2 week blocks.

Im 37 I have a 2 year old we started ttc in March 23 2nd cycle I fell pregnant but had a miscarriage in June at 9weeks we left it for me to have 2 cycles before we started trying again so that took us to august I've just finished af so on cycle 6 of ttc now and praying for a Bfp in 2024.
Ttc I find such a lonely road I obviously have my partner to talk to but sometimes you just need to talk to someone else who understand how emotional the journey is.

I hope everyone gets there Bfp in 2024 lots of baby dust 😘

Pappychi · 02/01/2024 07:59

Hello everyone,

I am so sorry for everyone’s losses and unexplained infertility- this is such a lonely journey.

I’m 32 on Sunday and my husband is 31 - we’re trying for our first in 2024.

Always had text book cycles but now? The last two I’ve had about 5 days of brown discharge before my period. Kinda been half trying but starting properly now.

Rang the doctors and they’re not interested at all. Might as well have spoken to a vet instead every time I have issues down there.

Nice to meet you all. I hope we all get baby dust this year.

hopingforapeainapod · 02/01/2024 09:50

Hi @Pappychi unfortunately my experience is that doctors aren’t very sympathetic / thorough as they could be when it comes to anything period or fertility related! I also have spotting / brown discharge sometimes before my period and when I mentioned this to my doctor she just brushed it off and said mid-cycle spotting is completely normal (I swear it famously isn’t?!) I ended up pushing for a progesterone test which they made me have on day 21 (even though I don’t have regular 28 day cycles) and it was borderline, but doctor says no point in giving me extra progesterone 🤷‍♀️ there is so much conflicting information online as well, I want to advocate for myself but the whole thing is a minefield!

Poppypear · 02/01/2024 14:22

Has anyone had any experience of getting a BFP after coming off the pill? I came off in October and was wondering if that has impacted things when TTC in Nov and December - I've had 3 AFs and confirmed ovulating with LH test in December? I'm 33 so expect it might take a bit longer cause of my age.

Pappychi · 02/01/2024 15:31

Yes I too thought it was famously an issue mid cycle - I even took pictures, tracked it, and made notes before I made the appointment.

like I said I’d have been better off going to the vets especially when she told me I was over thinking things!

I have noticed this only started when I began taking folic acid so I’m going to know that on the head this month and see if it changes back to how it was. I’m on day 3 this months of brown discharge but no sign of proper Aunt Flo.

Hopingrae · 02/01/2024 15:59

@Poppypear I haven't got experience with TTC after pill but have after mirena coil... I've had 4 pregnancies and each was conceived within 2 cycles at ages 36 and 39 (I'm lucky to get pregnant so quickly, just getting a sticky one is difficult!) so hopefully shouldn't be your age at 33! They say within 12 months is the "normal" range but I know it feels like forever in the middle of it. Sending baby dust your way x

@hopingforapeainapod is your spotting just before your period or midcycle? I started getting spotting for 2-3 days before period starts after I had my DS, have no idea what changed! But think I read it can be normal...

ElleBelleLou · 02/01/2024 18:38

Hi everyone

So happy to see people coming along for the journey, I'm sorry to hear of losses and issues along the way but I'm hoping 2024 is the year for us all and sending lots of baby dust to everyone.

What apps does everyone use to track ovulation etc? I've always used Flo and found it quite accurate judging by ovulation pains etc I get as well - but wondered if anyone had any better suggestions?

I'll be 29 at the end of this year, and ever since I was 8 I used to write in my diaries and tell my friends and family that I'd be a mummy when I'm 28. So my fingers are crossed!!

I'm on cycle day 7, due to ovulate around the 9th so that will be my official first try of this year.

Hopingrae · 02/01/2024 19:12

@ElleBelleLou I use the Clue app which I've found helpful where I record periods, opks and TTC stuff! I've found it good for me mainly in terms of spotting cycle patterns. I use clear blue opks and usually get solid smileys on CD12.
I'm on CD5 but this is my first period since MMC so it's been heavier and longer than normal. Hoping it doesn't hold up ovulation too much!
Sending baby dust back to you!

hopingforapeainapod · 02/01/2024 19:22

@Hopingrae it varies, sometimes it’s a couple of days after ovulation, sometimes it’s like a week after ovulation (and I get my hopes up it’s implantation bleeding!) and sometimes it’s just for a few days to a week before my period 🤷‍♀️

@Poppypear I know at least 3 or 4 people who got pregnant the first month after coming off the pill! I was on the pill for over 10 years, came off august 2022, started ttc December 2022 and no luck a year later. I assumed everything would return to normal straightaway but my cycles / skin went haywire for a bit so I think it varies from person to person but I always wonder if it takes a little longer for your body to self regulate than doctors give credit for!

@ElleBelleLou I use Flo which I think is pretty good - I also used Fertility Friend to track my BBT which is very good - if you pay the monthly subscription it gives you lots of analysis and you can also look at similar charts etc. I have stopped charting this month as I found I was over analysing it and I found getting up at the same time every morning quite stressful / didn’t want ttc to be the very first thing I thought about every morning when I woke up!

nervousn3lly · 02/01/2024 20:29

I use pre nom app and the easy at home lh strips I alway find it to be slight out to another app I have but I figure the test would be more accurate for testing for the peak x

Poppypear · 03/01/2024 09:27

Thank you for your advice @hopingforapeainapod@hopingforapeainapodthink i just thought I would be one of those people who it happened for first time - I'm not very good at waiting! I'm going to try the sperm to egg method this cycle. Will report back.
Sorry to hear about your MC and wishing you all the best for this cycle!
@ElleBelleLou i use natural cycle and take my temp every day with it - i think it's good.

ElleBelleLou · 10/01/2024 07:27

How is everyone getting on? My Flo app says I ovulated yesterday and that matches up with my ovulation cramps etc. We DTD last night, the night before and will again tonight so hoping that we've given it a good chance! x

OP posts:
Hopingrae · 10/01/2024 07:32

@ElleBelleLou sounds like you've given yourself a great chance this month! My DH is away with work this week and based on opk progression I think I'll be getting a positive opk today! So typical! He's back tomorrow night so really hoping we'll still be in with a chance if we DTD as soon as he gets back! 🤣
I'll update with how my opk is looking later, maybe it'll be tomorrow which will give me an extra day to try!

Hopingrae · 12/01/2024 14:07

I'm officially 1DPO today, let the TWW begin! I did get positive opk on weds and we managed to DTD last night when DH got home from his trip on O day. Really hoping that's enough! Will try again later too!
@Poppypear have you started sperm meets egg plan this cycle? It's worked for me before, worth a go for sure!

Poppypear · 12/01/2024 14:52

@Hopingrae all the best with your tww - hope it's not too stressful! So pleased he got back in time for O day.

So have been trying SME - dtd every other day since day 10 and finally got a positive opk today (day 17) so will try to dtd today, Saturday and Sunday then once more on Tuesday . Hope it's not too stressful for DH!

Will let you know I get on!

Hopingrae · 12/01/2024 16:37

@Poppypear our TWW is quite close together then! Sounds like you're in for the best chance based on all that DTD action! Wish you lots of luck too!
@ElleBelleLou you're only a couple of days ahead, everything crossed for some good luck on this thread in a couple of weeks time.

ElleBelleLou · 12/01/2024 17:13

@Hopingrae hopefully we'll have a lot to celebrate! I've been starving today like an unfillable hole - I know it's too early for any kind of symptom spotting but I can't help remember in 2022 I was exactly like this on Boxing Day and found out I was pregnant at New Years - can't help but get my hopes up!

OP posts:
Poppypear · 12/01/2024 18:15

@ElleBelleLou ohh that's interesting - fingers crossed it's a good sign for you!

@Hopingrae we are quite close aren't we! Hope we manage to survive the TTW without too much manic testing!

Hello all! We're doing as much as I can this month. Cheap ovulation sticks, 4 day clearblue ovulation test, easy@home app, folic acid, CoQ10, vitamin D and C, low caffeine and no alcohol. I am day 7 and normally ovulate on day 12. We're trying the SME plan too. Last month we didnt get the timing right. We had a chemical in Oct (our first month TTC) so that's definitely made me feel anxious

nervousn3lly · 13/01/2024 17:23

Sorry if I sound silly what is SME? Please x

ALB1266 · 13/01/2024 21:47

Hi all,

I’m going to join the thread too. We have been trying to conceive for almost 2 years now after coming off the Depo injection. I had a HyCoSy in November and since my periods seem to have become more regular and I have more signs of possible ovulation. Hoping in the next few months we will get our positive.

Sending positive vibes to everyone else ✨
