Hello!
I’m currently 9dpo and having a bit a wobble- I keep flitting between hopeful to sad very quickly today. I think I just need some opinions from people who don’t know me and who aren’t just going to say ‘Hopefully’ or ‘fingers crossed’ (which is very sweet but I just need something more than that.

I’m 28, and me and my husband are on cycle 5 of TTC. This month I’ve been using OPKs and BBT. Currently on CD24 which is 9dpo for me- got my static smiley with my ovulation test on CD15 in the morning. We DTD every other day from CD6 up to CD19 so should be plenty of sperm up there to meet the egg!
I was concerned that I wasn’t actually ovulating despite getting a positive OPK so that’s why I started BBT (at first this was a bit of a struggle but I think I’ve got the hang of it now). My ovulation was confirmed on CD6 (one day I had to disregard my temp as I woke up slightly but didn’t temp straight away and temped an hour later when my alarm went off). My BBT has only had one dip on CD2 under the base line but have been quite zig zag like and not showing that upward curve that I would like to indicate pregnancy- I’ll attach a photo below incase we have the BBT experts out there!

My CM has been a mixture of watery and creamy, but I’ve really noticed the watery CM when I actively check and only the creamy CM once it has dried in my pants (often a cream/yellow colour). However, today on CD9 I have started to spot- it mainly is watery CM with a pink tinge- happened this morning with my first morning wee, then had a small amount mid day but my pants had creamy discharge with a slight browny colouring and then tonight I had the same watery discharge with a pink tinge. I have attached some pictures- sorry in advance for TMI or if it’s too graphic.
Picture info-

  • up close image on toilet paper was taken AM on CD9
  • picture of pants was taken mid day
  • toilet paper further away was taken PM on CD9

I would have been excited for this as it could possibly be implantation bleeding but last month I had a very similar experience (spotting started with a mixture of watery and creamy CM from CD23 and continued until CD27 to which it ended in my period).

I did also test this morning and received a BFN. I guess I’m just looking for any happily ever after who had similar situations to me or anyone with experience similar to mine. I think with the mixture of BBT and CM checking I already feel out at just 9dpo which I know is still early.

Might be worth mentioning that When I started to bleed today I thought it was game over so tried to put it out of my mind but me and my OH had sex and no trace of spotting on him or me afterwards. Plus cramps, if that’s what you can even call them has been minimal.

This TTC m’larky is so exhausting, you think it’ll be easy (I always said to people it could take a long while but I hoped deep down it would be super easy) and it’s like one thing after the next in terms of worry. First it’s the worry that you’ll get that positive OPK, then it’s the worry that if you’ll actually ovulate and get the temps to confirm it, not to mention having enough sex (whilst trying not to put too much pressure on you or your OH) and then it’s checking if your CM is right and so on and so on.
My Nan, who knows we’re TTC, said it’s any wonder anyone got pregnant back when she had her babies 😂
Just hope everyone is taking care of themselves whilst on this should be magical journey and wishing baby dust to you all!

Also, thank you for reading my long ramble and taking the time to reply! X

@MissEmily5 and why does this bloody tww go so slowly!! I’m only 4/5dpo and feels like a lifetime 😂 my boobs usually hurt by now but so far they don’t at all, so thinking it’s not looking good, but that’s me being pessimistic again!

oh that’s interesting, I’ve not heard of the book but might look in to it, thanks!

it’s so weird how this is happening, I wonder if we always had spotting and we just noticed it now? But I swear I didn’t! Will be really interesting to see what the tests show you, fingers crossed it says you ovulate really well!

MissEmily5 · 10/01/2024 20:09

@jenkh91 it’s just typical isn’t it! When you want time to go quickly it drags by- I have everything crossed for you! Maybe because it’s something you don’t usually feel it could possibly be something that leads to that BFP!

No problem, I hope it helps ☺️

We probably just haven’t noticed it to be fair- it’s during the TWW that I wish I had a really extensive log of all my normal symptoms leading up to a period, just to put my symptom spotting brain at bay...😂
Thank you! I hope so too, it’ll definitely put my mind at ease and hopefully I can relax more every month we’re trying!

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 12/01/2024 11:38

Hey @MissEmily5 how you getting on?

Think I am 7dpo today, maybe 8, my boobs still don't hurt like they normally do, maybe just a little bit, but i have had period style cramps on and off yesterday and today so feeling again like i am out, but let's see!

The last two nights i have dreamt that I took a test and it was positive, what a killer!

MissEmily5 · 13/01/2024 18:11

@jenkh91 hey! not too bad thank you- trying not to obsess over every little thing 😂 I’m either 4 or 5dpo- Flo says one thing and FF says another. Woke up with some sharp twinges last night which was weird but trying not to Google search it as a possible pregnancy symptom when it quite frankly is probably nothing!

7/8dpo is still early days and cramps could mean something positive but I get it, I’d rather prepare for the worst and hope for the best- it’s hard to strike that balance.

Ugh! I hate that so much, I had that a couple of months ago, you wake up so hopeful and happy and boom the realisation hits 🥲

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 15/01/2024 12:16

Hey @MissEmily5 its so hard not to obsess isn’t it! I started to feel really positive about this month because my boobs usually hurt from ovulation to just before AF but nothing this month and then I’ve been feeling a bit queasy, but then last night started getting cramps and today feel like AF is coming so think I’m out but still hanging on to that glimmer of hope 😂

this is all so NOT fun!

a friend of mine said when she was trying she just ended up getting really drunk every time AF arrived…thinking I might be doing this same this weekend 😂

how you feeling?

MissEmily5 · 15/01/2024 17:20

@jenkh91 it really is- how many DPOs are you? It could still be something positive!
Ah that glimmer of hope- I often wonder if it’s a good thing or a bad thing! 😂

I think that might be the way forward with this all- or at least treat myself to something every time AF comes!

I’m okay thanks, I’ve been doing them PdG tests and they’re coming back positive so far which is great, big relief for me! Also temp seems to be going up/staying up which is again good but i’m so worried that i’m getting my hopes up for nothing! Currently 7dpo and my app says to test on Saturday- which will make my luteal phrase under 2 weeks- hope this doesn’t hinder anything! But I did ovulate on CD17 according to my BBT.
Basically, I keep flitting between hopeful to scared quite a lot 🙈😂

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 16/01/2024 12:06

@MissEmily5 so i think i am 11 DPO today, which i guess is still early - this has honestly been the longest tww ever I feel like i've been waiting a month! My cramps haven't come back since sunday night and yesterday ive been very bloated, also for the last like 5 nights i have had the WEIRDEST dreams so im still clinging on to hope because of everything i read in these threads - which i am sure is setting me up to fail!

However i bought a test on way home from work last night and did it, of course it was negative so was stupid idea but i couldn't resist, i'm normally not a tester but this time i was weak haha.

Only positive i am taking is that i haven't had spotting yet, and i did read that so long as your luteal phase is over 9 days then you should be ok, so making it to 11dpo with no spotting is good i guess!

That's good news about the PdG tests, at least if this is showing as all good then that's one less thing to worry about and might put your mind at ease a little bit.

The change between feeling hopeful and feeling negative is bonkers isn't it, it can literally change 20 times a day!

MissEmily5 · 16/01/2024 14:29

@jenkh91 that all sounds really positive to be honest, I hope it is a reality for you🤞

I also took a test today and got a BFN! (No shocker 😂)
Not entirely sure what possessed me- but I think I’ve been feeling like this could be the month as I’ve been getting high results on the PdG tests, but of course that means nothing in terms of improving our chances.

Ooh that’s good to know about the luteal phase being okay if it’s past 9 days! And about no spotting! It’s sounding really good for you☺️

I started spotting today- this morning I noticed watery brown spots in the toilet bowl and just a bit discolouration on the tissue after I wiped but no more since. But now I can’t help but feel so negative and sad.

So, yes, I totally get the mood swings! I’ve had a cry and now I’m preparing myself to enter month 7 of trying! Naively, never thought it would take us this long 🤦🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 16/01/2024 15:46

@MissEmily5 well literally an hour after my last post cramps have started so think AF is coming 😩 this is such a rollercoaster 😂

you are a few days behind me this cycle right? So your spotting could be implantation maybe! Totally understand how you’re feeling but you really never know, especially if those tests are showing your progesterone is still high?? I would assume spotting related to period would be because of drop in progesterone, although not totally sure.

im keeping everything crossed for you 🤞🤞🤞

MissEmily5 · 16/01/2024 16:34

@jenkh91 cramps can still be a sign, at 11dpo right? Implantation can range from 6-12dpo. When is AF due for you?
God I know and I’m ready to get off this rollercoaster! 😂

I’m 8dpo today- it could be in theory but I’m starting to wonder if I’m even one of those women who do bleed during the process! Last night I had like a pin prick of old blood- hardly anything! And today is like I said which seem more in line with the past few
months- I don’t want to go down the rabbit hole of thinking it could be and giving myself false hope.
I’m confused though, I thought because I have nice high levels of progesterone and my BBT is still lovely and high that I wouldn’t get it at this point- who knows! My body definitely plays tricks on me 😂

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 16/01/2024 20:25

@MissEmily5 bodies are definitely playing tricks! I think you’re taking the right approach though, because it’s so hard to have your hopes up and then AF to arrive! But I can still keep my hopes up for you 😁

i know right, what an awful rollercoaster!

AF for me due Thursday or Friday, so still a few days to wait! When’s it due for you?

MissEmily5 · 17/01/2024 20:27

@jenkh91 how are you doing? any further cramps or other unwanted symptoms?
Aw bless you, that’s very sweet of you! I hope we can congratulate each very soon on BFP🥰

AF could either be due Saturday, Sunday or Monday- my app isn’t sure as as I didn’t get my peak until CD15 and then my ovulation was confirmed on CD17- I’m on CD26 (9dpo) now and usually my period ranges from 25 to 28 days! So who knows🤦🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 18/01/2024 09:11

@MissEmily5 well I had the tiniest bit of spotting yesterday and this morning have proper cramps so think AF will turn up today right on time!
I think next month I’m not going to track anything and just try dtd every other day during my fertile window, I feel like I need a break from tracking.

have you had any more spotting since the other day?

MissEmily5 · 18/01/2024 18:52

@jenkh91 aw I’m so sorry 😔 that sucks, I hope that ugly AF comes swiftly and is done nice quick so you guys can start again!

I’m thinking the same actually, it’s a lot of pressure and it can really bog you down can’t it- I think now I know that I ovulate then I might just do the sperm meets the egg method!

No, I haven’t- weirdly (and sorry for TMI) my pants have been really damp and quite a bit of creamy CM, I’ve tried to Google what this could mean but not a lot of information on it! But I’m still not hopeful, I feel like it’s going to come any day now!

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 19/01/2024 13:23

@MissEmily5 well it kind of started then stopped again, but I still feel like it’s coming, i just wish it would hurry up and get on with it!

Yh it really bogs you down doesn’t it, and after many months of tracking I notice that the apps are pretty much spot on with my ovulation day so just going to go by that and try take my mind of it!

have you had any more spotting yet?

MissEmily5 · 19/01/2024 15:39

@jenkh91 i think I’m in the exact same situation as you again! I’ve had some more spotting- very creamy and brown in colour which implies that AF is on her way, but not a lot of it! I’m 11dpo today (CD28), so I expect her tomorrow- I very, very rarely go longer than 28 days.

But the strange thing is I’ve not really had cramps, just feel achy but I’m starting to develop a sore throat and just feel generally run down- nothing to how I normally feel when AF comes.

I’m definitely going to try and do that- but I’m not sure I’m kidding myself if I quit all the tracking cold turkey! 😂

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 21/01/2024 12:28

Hey @MissEmily5 AF came in full force by Friday night so now feeling more relaxed at least that the waiting is over! So let’s see how the no tracking goes in the coming weeks!

how are you doing? Any sign of AF or any good news?!

MissEmily5 · 21/01/2024 18:11

@jenkh91 I’m glad you’re not in period limbo anymore, hope you’re okay and taking care of yourself!
We should try and keep ourselves accountable but all is forgiven if we cave- which quite frankly is a strong possibility😂

I’m okay thanks, but throughly confused! On CD30 (13dpo), only had one cycle that lasted this long since coming off birth control a year ago and no period as such yet but a lot of spotting, It’s very creamy and brown and quite a bit of it but it starts and stops.

I took a test to rule it out pregnancy completely yesterday and it was a very stark BFN. I fully expected my period this morning, I usually start in the mornings, but no… more creamy brown spotting. I’ve not had any of my usual period symptoms, I’m not cramping and my boobs don’t hurt, so very confused!!

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 22/01/2024 12:32

@MissEmily5 yep at least I’m out of limbo land.

how is limbo land going for you? That is all so strange, has it arrived properly yet or not? It’s all so confusing because you’d expect a positive by now but also you do hear if people not getting BFPs until days after AF was due.

MissEmily5 · 02/02/2024 22:21

@jenkh91 sorry I went AWOL- I hope you’re okay and doing okay.
I’m now on CD12- we had a little set back, my DH took a home test for sperm count and it was not great- were hoping it was just a fluke as we didn’t realise we had give it 3 days at least from DD and it was only 2.
So we’ve booked in for the private tests, a bit earlier than we planned but we just need to have answers or we’ll go mad- plus my little sister has just got pregnant after just 2 months, which unfortunately has made us feel more pressure 😔
what stage are you at?:)

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 03/02/2024 15:57

Hey @MissEmily5 oh no, I’m sorry to hear that. I think it’s a good idea to get the private tests booked in and get answers! Makes total sense.

i read on a thread here somewhere that those at homes are not particularly reliable - I’m also certain I read that someone’s partner got a not great result from the at home tests and then when they had a proper test there was nothing wrong - so fingers crossed!

that’s tough news about your sister too, even though you’re still happy for them it’s hard to hear isn’t it.

so I am cd 16, I think I ovulated yesterday so now heading into the shitty tww - haven’t tracked this month and feeling more relaxed for it but also bit worried I’ve got the timing wrong, but we did it plenty this week so hopefully we are covered.

if it doesn’t work this month then going to book in for private tests too

Westsussex · 03/02/2024 17:13

MissEmily5 · 19/12/2023 18:02

@4LeafCloverBaby hi again!
hope you’re well :)
we haven’t yet no, I said to my OH that if we’re not lucky this month I’ll be contacting doctors. Just don’t want them to completely disregard us because we’ve only been trying what will be 6 months and we’re both under the age of 35.
Did you go private for this? :)

Yes, you'll need to go private for your tests, lovely. I've been to a private scanning room, which was full testing it was amazing and under £90 I can't recommend it more!

I've also had all my hormones tested (all perfect as well as my scanning), but we did an at home test on dh who has low motility which we're working on.

Nhs won't help for 2 years, if you can go private and get some peace of mind.

Symptom spotting is exhausting eventually. Try to wait until your missed period if you can . But your symptoms could be implantation for sure. Xx

MissEmily5 · 04/02/2024 18:00

@jenkh91 I’m glad that we’ve booked the tests and we’ll know one way or another- at least if there’s a problem we know and we can get started on putting things in place and if there is not then it’s just a matter of time :) aw I hope that is the case for us and that the home test was wrong- would definitely make things less stressful.

It’s always hard when it comes to hearing someone you’re close gets pregnant easily and you’re not finding it easy. But I’m just going to let myself feel sad when I need to but remind myself that I’ll be getting a new niece or nephew.
Ahh the dreaded TWW, never gets easier does it! I hope you get your BFP this month- I’ve also not tested this month and I definitely don’t feel as obsessed with every little symptom by not testing as much.

What month does this make for you?
I think that’s a good idea, I certainly feel more relaxed about it all, maybe it’s because I feel more in control.

@Westsussex thanks for your kind words and advice- we’ve booked in and we should have answers by the end of the month- the tests cover lots of things so we’ll have a nice clear idea. We’re very lucky that our MIL and FIL have paid for us to go private so we don’t have to wait, which is such a privilege.

Symptom spotting is the absolute worst and very much emotionally draining! Xx

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 05/02/2024 10:07

hey @MissEmily5 yep defo, you have a plan now and one way or another it will be sorted!

yh for sure, let yourself feel however you need to - be kind to yourself ❤️

one of my close friends knows I’m trying and she and her partner are going to start trying soon too and in my head I’m just thinking I really hope I’m pregnant before she is otherwise I will find it really tough - but equally I don’t want her to have to go through all of this and hope it happens quickly for her!

this is month 6 for me, so I know in the grand scheme of things it’s really not that long - but it feels like forever 😂

i also have Bupa through my work and just found out they now offer fertility testing, so hoping I’m eligible for that and if it doesn’t work this month will get in touch with them. It would only be for me and not my partner but its a start!

MissEmily5 · 07/02/2024 21:24

@jenkh91
yeah, I’m just sick of being upset about it all the time. It’s just so consuming, I don’t want to think about it anymore. 😔

It’s tricky to balance your feelings of wanting the best and being angry with your reality, but sometimes it’s difficult.

I’ve only got one month on you but god it is super difficult- I don’t think it matters how long you’ve been trying everyone is allowed to feel.

Thats great news! Fingers crossed you get seen soon, bet that is a relief! ☺️
