@CatiaR i am feeling good thank you! Only 5 weeks 1 day so very early! Online says most people start getting symptoms around the 6-8 week mark!

CatiaR · 13/02/2024 13:18

@EK37 yeah that’s true I only had the odd cramp back then. Hopefully no sickness coming your way 😊

only a few weeks then you’ll get your booking appointment

@CatiaR yeah I have had the odd cramp and I am very bloated but other than that I feel normal for now! I have booked in for a private scan in 3 weeks just so I can make sure they are sat where they need to be and that there’s only one in there 😂😂 and I have filled out my referral form so should get a call this week!

etaketak1991 · 13/02/2024 13:47

@CatiaR Aw congratulations, what a lovely little baby! Are you interested in gender nub theory? I think I might be able to take a guess 👀

@EK37 Good luck for your scan in 3 weeks ❤️

CatiaR · 13/02/2024 14:08

@etaketak1991 thanks! well we are not planning to find out but everyone already been taking guesses even before they have seen the scan picture so you're welcome to take a guess as well if you want :) I have seen those around but honestly have no clue what I am looking at and other scan pictures we have look a bit different than that one so couldn't tell either way

we'll be happy either way :)

@CatiaR ahhh amazing 😍 you must be so excited to tell your family! Do you know when your 20 week scan will be?
Everyone guessed boy on my nub theory and here we are with a girl so I am not convinced on that anymore 😂
I'm really good thanks! I've started buying bits and I'm just so excited for it all 🥰 it's the most amazing feeling when she kicks me, it's definitely not getting old yet 😅 I miss her during the day because I'm so busy I barely feel her 😂

etaketak1991 · 13/02/2024 14:21

@CatiaR It's all just guesswork isn't it, even sonographers get it wrong sometimes! I think based on that photo you might have a girl there 🩷 Our scan was much blurrier 😂

@Hotmalibu94 aww that’s lovely can’t wait for that 🥰

I don’t know yet but got my 16 week midwife appointment booked on in 3 weeks.

@etaketak1991 its always fun to try anyway ! We will be chuffed either way but we still don’t agree on a boys name 😂

ah I see it’s a bit more blurry yeah. It took our sonographer a long while till they could take a nice picture or even do the last measurements since baby wouldn’t stop moving around 😂

Hotmalibu94 · 13/02/2024 14:31

@etaketak1991 @CatiaR our 12 week scan was so clear and then our 20 week scan was just pants for photos 😅 the only half decent one we got was her squished up with her face against her knees 😂

Hotmalibu94 · 13/02/2024 14:32

@CatiaR I wanted to wait to find out before we got pregnant and then as soon as we did fall pregnant I was so impatient 😂 had to just go for it! So fair play to you 😂

etaketak1991 · 13/02/2024 14:34

@Hotmalibu94 Haha look at her all squished! What a gorgeous bub 🥰 I've got my private gender scan booked on the 24th, can't wait!

missshortie89 · 13/02/2024 14:41

Hi all! so nice reading through everything!

I took this this morning, not due on for 6 days but had sore breasts, needed a nap the last few days and was over excited.

It's so faint but it's definitely there isn't it?

@Hotmalibu94 aww how cute 🥰 for now I think a surprise would be nice but I can’t help look at all the work samples which are so cute especially girly clothes but hanging on and getting bits as gender neutral as possible. I think it would be nice to have a surprise too. But who knows it may change as it goes along.

@etaketak1991 exciting 🥰

@missshortie89 looks like it could be something although the line is getting thinner near the bottom. Fingers crossed for you 🤞

@CatiaR aw so sweet! I'm so pleased it went well!! 😊

@EK37 it feels like it'll take forever until your scans etc but for me, after my 12 week it has flown by!! Fingers crossed everything continues well and your private scan goes well in a few weeks!

@Hotmalibu94 aw that's such a cute pic! All scrunched up! 🥰

I've had a bit of a nightmare with the 20 week scans, they couldn't find everything they needed to on the first one, so went back yesterday and they can only find one kidney, so have just been back to see a consultant and they've confirmed that they are currently unable to see the kidney or any vessels or blood flow to indicate that there is one there somewhere so that means I'm now under the consultant for that!
And my placenta is low so they have said that it's highly likely that I will have to have a c section and around 36 weeks which is absolutely fine (the health of baby comes first) but I am a bit gutted that I may not get to have the experience of a natural birth and then have to go through the recovery etc 😔

Have any of you had a cesarean?

EK37 · 14/02/2024 10:58

@Hollie18 yeah I feel like it is dragging and I’m just in a constant state of worry wondering if they are ok. I keep going to the toilet to check for blood I’m just so paranoid. I’ve noticed I’m starting to get a lot more tired, and I feel more crampy if I move a lot. Just mopped our floors and need to have a sit down I’m knackered 😂

sorry to hear about your scans, it’s such a worry but it’s good that you are getting consultant led, will be the best care for you and bubba x

etaketak1991 · 14/02/2024 11:58

@Hollie18 I'm sorry that things are complex! I haven't had a caesarean, but everyone I know who has have said that a planned c section has a lot of advantages - you know your date and what to expect recovery-wise. If you choose to have another child, you can always go for a vbac too ☺️

Hotmalibu94 · 14/02/2024 13:43

@Hollie18 sorry things aren't straightforward for you! Are they going to keep doing scans to check for the other kidney or are they just assuming it isn't there?
I'm in the same boat as you with the low placenta, have they indicated that it might move for you?
Hope you're doing ok! X

Hollie18 · 14/02/2024 20:57

@EK37 hang in there, it'll drag, then fly!! I keep saying/thinking oh it's still early but actually, now I've been told that I'll likely deliver around 36 weeks I've only got 14 weeks left!! Mildly freaking out 😂 I also used to pop to the toilet often worried about bleeding etc, hopefully once you have had that early scan it'll put your mind at ease a little!

@etaketak1991 Yeah, a lot of my friends have said that they had good experiences and one has actually had a vaginal and then an elected c section and said that she far preferred the c section so maybe it's not the end of the world - just sad to have the option removed I suppose!

@Hotmalibu94 they are pretty confident that it's not there and that he just has one, which funnily enough is the same as my brother! But the one that is there is functioning and is healthy so they aren't really worried about it, it'll just mean follow ups for him throughout childhood.

They did indicate that the placenta may move during my initial 20 week scan, but the one today was with a consultant and he was much more thorough and basically said that the cord is coming out of the side rather than the middle and looks to be obstructing the cervix which could end up cutting off oxygen to baby if they let me go into natural labour, so they would want to deliver early before that happens 😔

Ncl31 · 15/02/2024 06:39

@Hollie18 im sorry things don’t seem to be straight forward for you. But it sounds like you’re being looked after well.
Obviously I’ve never had a c section myself but I’ve been involved in thousands in theatre, I’m sure you’ll be very well looked after and will just need to take it easy while you recover.

EK37 · 15/02/2024 10:55

Hey all, can I just ask when you got your 3+ on clearblue digital? I am 5 weeks 3 days and tested but it’s still saying 2-3 weeks and now I am panicking. I have looked online and some say they got it at about 6 weeks or never and some are saying about 5 weeks???

etaketak1991 · 15/02/2024 11:07

@EK37 I never bothered trying to get a 3+ on the dating tests! Everything I read said they're only really reliable for telling you if you're pregnant or not 😂 I would try not to worry x

EK37 · 15/02/2024 11:12

@etaketak1991 yeah I have read they’re really unreliable so I’m annoyed I did this to myself cause now I’m worried for no reason lol. I am hoping I get a call from my midwife today as it’s been nearly a week since I filled my form in so might just mention it then and see what they say lol

CatiaR · 15/02/2024 18:03

@EK37 I did get a 3+ weeks but can’t recall exactly at how many weeks I did it at I think it was 6 weeks tho, exactly for that reason most likely. Spread it out enough and didn’t want to worry too much about it.

if you feeling ok I’m sure it’s all good, seen lots of people not getting 3+ so who knows

OP posts:
EK37 · 15/02/2024 18:07

@CatiaR thanks! I’m not gonna test again until
maybe next week then. I feel good so far so I’m hoping that’s a good sign. Waiting for the symtoms to start kicking in which I think is roughly around next week or the week after so making the most of feeling good whilst I can 😂

CatiaR · 15/02/2024 18:12

@EK37 ah yeah I only was mildly cramping occasionally back then with sore boobs which is not unusual before AF would show. Only been sick once but was hoping that I’d stop being nauseous by now but last Saturday was on the verge of throwing up multiple times during the day and that lasted from when I woke up till sleep!

other than being hungry and needing to pee all the damn time - and being bloated, finally got my maternity jeans yesterday and love it! No more squished lower tummy!! Not showing much but was getting very uncomfortable already in normal jeans 😂
