I’m ovulation day (pending bbt confirmation!), and I’m really not looking forward to two weeks of obsession. What’s your tww survival plan?

MrsL2019 · 10/11/2023 21:22

@BatildaB i wish i had a plan, i try not to obsess and symptom spot but i swear the TWW turns me into a different person! Whats your game plan?

OP posts:
BatildaB · 10/11/2023 22:25

I don’t know but I need one! Last cycle was ridiculous, I started testing 8dpo and did basically nothing but stare at blank tests for 5 days and prod my breasts to see if they were sore... I wfh so the TWW is becoming a ridiculous productivity killer because I get so distracted.

This is my first month tracking bbt, so it’s probably going to be even worse, as I won’t even have a week of not thinking about it!

Ideally I guess I’d like to focus on healthy diet, plenty of sleep, daily gentle exercise, etc. Will try to hold off testing till at least 10dpo this time.

MrsL2019 · 10/11/2023 22:46

@BatildaB i work from home too and i find that the hardest part! I feel like i get more obsessive over it when im supposed to be working.

I was the same as you last month but i weirdly got so many symptoms that i convinced myself i was pregnant. I dont ever get any symptoms before AF other than spotting and pain due to endometriosis, so when my boobs was heavy and full that threw me. The symptoms just kept coming from there.

I always feel better when i have someone who i can talk to and who understands when in the TWW. We can both push each other to hold off testing so early!

OP posts:
BatildaB · 10/11/2023 23:23

@MrsL2019 Oh me too. Althougg I’ve convinced myself I was pregnant every one of the four cycles I’ve tracked.. But last cycle I do think something was going on although nothing ever really showed on a test. But I had my longest cycle in three years, all sorts of symptoms including a nosebleed, and my lh levels are very different this month. So it was hard not to be distracted. But regardless of what happens or doesn’t this time I don’t want an entire week of not knowing but not thinking about anything else!

Solidarity in holding off on early tests sounds good!

GHJ · 11/11/2023 08:55

Hi ladies hope you don't mind if I join in too. I think I'm 1dpo, cd20, have had really weird long cycles the last few. Last one I tested for 42 days and never got a positive opk, ended up being 60 day cycle in the end. This cycle went the other way and had 3 days of positives! So not sure 100% which day I ovulated or if I definitely did. Bbt sl higher this morning but had an awful night sleep so not very accurate. Nice to join you at the same stage of the tww (I know I definitely won't last 2 weeks before testing!)

BatildaB · 11/11/2023 09:11

@GHJ Hi! I think a longer surge is normal variation isn’t it? Or were the days not together? I have the opposite issue of quite short cycles so feel a bit like I’m permanently in the tww. And my bbt was low this morning, but i also had bad night’s sleep so I’m not sure it means anything. Can we just claim that insomnia is an ovulation sign?

MrsL2019 · 11/11/2023 10:17

@BatildaB how long have you been trying? Is it your first baby?

@GHJ welcome! This cycle i had a couple days of high ovulation tests too, which i didnt get last month. I went from high to low really quickly last month! When did you get your positive ovulation test?

OP posts:
GHJ · 11/11/2023 13:07

Hi maybe it is completely normal to have a few days positive but it's the first time for me as last cycle never went positive at all. It was 3 days in a row and back to negative yesterday so I think I'm 1dpo, I think anyway! I like the idea of insomnia being an ovulation sign, hopefully a successful one too! It's my 1st wedding anniversary a week tomorrow and I love the idea of a bfp on my anniversary but know it will probably be too early and likely negative given the last few months but wouldn't that be exciting! How long have you both been trying and is this baby 1? TTC our first and been trying around 7 months but coming off the pill really mixed around my cycles!

MrsL2019 · 11/11/2023 17:13

@GHJ do you use the premom app to upload your tests to identify your peak? I have a little girl already who currently nearly 2.5 years old. Lately she has been telling me she wants a brother or sister haha!

OP posts:
GHJ · 11/11/2023 18:24

@MrsL2019 yes I'm using premom but I don't 100% trust it I think I'm quite wary after my last few cycles and it gave me all sorts of crazy answers and kept changing all the time. It has told me I've ovulated a couple of different days over a 3 day period this time but it's now decided I'm 1dpo so hoping that's right. Ah that's lovely that your little girl is excited to be a big sister!

BatildaB · 11/11/2023 22:12

@MrsL2019 very sweet that she wants a little brother or sister. A friend of mine just told their child about that age that they’re going to have a little brother and the response was “does that mean i can have a bunk bed?” 😂

@GHJ an anniversary bfp would be lovely, although it does sound like it might be a bit early! Do you think you will test that day?

Would be a first child for me and my partner, and have left it a bit late, both in late 30s. Have been sort of trying for 6-7 months, but we had some life events and illness get in the way for some of that time, so this is only the 3rd or 4th month where we’ve been ‘really’ trying, with timing and tracking etc. Would be happy with just one child so not feeling too stressed about it yet, but starting to feel slightly impatient! Also on a year contract so there’s a very short window where i’ll qualify for maternity pay and would be nice to hit that..

MrsL2019 · 12/11/2023 10:53

@GHJ i would always class your ovulation day as the day after your peak. Thats what ive always done!

@BatildaB i find TTC so hard, it really consumes you doesnt it so im not surprised your feeling impatient. Its only my 2nd month trying but i feel impatient already. I dont think it helps that people tell you from a young age youll fall pregnant instantly, we all know thats not the case!!

Im 3 dpo today and feel like its the calm before the storm, i havnt obsessed at all yet but i tend to start the further i get into the TWW!

OP posts:
GHJ · 12/11/2023 17:57

Lovely to be at the same stage ish as you ladies in the tww. I'm already thinking about when I can poas! I'm a bit of a POAS addict! I don't think I'll last the full two weeks I think I'll probably start next weekend at 9dpo ish though I know it'll be negative and I'll take some cheapie tests on my holiday the following week with me. I know it's not healthy testing before AF due but I think it gives me something to do at least. I'm still not convinced I've actually ovulated as the last few cycles have been so crazy but we'll see. Any symptom spotting yet? I know it's too early but my boobs are really sensitive like if I get a knock or anything they're quite uncomfortable. Hopefully a sign I've ovulated if nothing else!

MrsL2019 · 13/11/2023 12:18

@GHJ if POAS helps you survive the TWW then thats all that matters!! I usually start my period on 12dpo and usually spot a little before hand which gives me an idea of whats happening usually. No symptoms here apart from pinching/achy pains in my pelvic area and lower back, but having endometriosis means thats completely normal for me

Lucky for me im so busy at work today so i might make it to 5dpo (tomorrow) with no obsessing🤣

OP posts:
BatildaB · 13/11/2023 13:06

I usually manage not to symptom spot for 6 days and then I’ll go crazy with it. Sounds good approach @GHJ if you can keep the early symptom spotting to proof of ovulation. My temperature only really obviously went up this morning, which should be 3dpo, so now I’m worrying that we missed the most fertile days and trying not to feel annoyed at my partner for being too tired to have a final go for this cycle the day after peak! Am a bit confused about how precise timing is on lh and bbts anyway.

@MrsL2019 we’re on a very similar timetable, i also usually get af 12 dpo.

Yolo23 · 13/11/2023 23:23

Hello everyone! Please may I join 🥰

I’m currently OD expected - I used clearblue digitals this month and had a flashing, followed by static smiley so I’m fairly certain I’ve caught it. We DTD a few times before my partner went away.

Been TTC since July last year - however I’m a numbers gal and it looks like we’ve only really DTD in the fertile window for 7/8 of those months.

I was shocked to see the TWW is literally STARTING for me today 😂 we had a CP this time last year (first and only ever BFP which lasted a few days). Hopeful that November is a good month!? I did read somewhere earlier (weirdly) that late autumn is one of the most successful times for TTC - atleast in the US 🤣 not sure what time of year is the most successful in the UK yet… here goes my next crazy google search!!

MrsL2019 · 14/11/2023 10:50

@BatildaB how are you feeling?

@Yolo23 welcome!! That is an interesting fact, lets hope it applies to UK too🤣 nice to see we have more people joining us for the dreaded TWW!

My daughter is super poorly at the minute, so im getting no sleep and im stressed with constant doctors/hospital visits all while trying to keep it together and not crumble so i can make sure im here for my little girl. I would not be shocked if i dont get pregnant this cycle with how my body is feeling after all this. I had a really horrible vivid nightmare last night, thats sleep deprivation taking its toll!

OP posts:
BatildaB · 14/11/2023 15:10

@MrsL2019 so sorry to hear that your little girl is so poorly, hope that she starts to get better soon. And yes the stress and sleep deprivation can definitely have an effect on cycles can’t it, although obviously some women do get pregnant in very stressful times! Hope you all get some rest and recuperation time soon.

@Yolo23 hi! I like the idea of autumn being a good fertility season.. I am not going to google it because I don’t want to find out if it isn’t true! Maybe it’s the hibernation vibes, staying cosy and eating more!

I’m too early to test or symptom spot but the days are already seeming quite long! My first ever bbt chart is looking good still though so that’s something to keep me obsessing for now..

Yolo23 · 14/11/2023 18:43

@MrsL2019 oh bless her! I hope she’s feeling a bit better this evening. It sounds as though there’s a lot going on for you - what scans and tests are you having at the moment?

@BatildaB I agree! I definitely cosy up more and eat more 👀 😂 wouldn’t it be nice if that’s all it took to conceive! A little extra TLC in the winter months lol.

Im far too early to test too - only maybe 1dpo today so will wait it out. Also going to just see what happens, I don’t tend to test until the day of AF anyway, or day before because when I had the CP it was negative up until 11dpo so while I’d like to know if it happens again, I also want to protect myself from the upset of an early negative - you can’t really win can you 😂 what CD are you on? Xx

GHJ · 14/11/2023 20:20

How's it going ladies? 4dpo today (supposedly but I'm still super sceptical) and just had some very sharp pains in uterus area one made me actually say ouch out loud. Nothing since sort of feels a bit grumbly like very mild period pains but I'm just having a warm bath. My bbt not looking especially convincing tbh so I expect I'm pulling at straws just seemed a bit unusual. Anyone else having any signs they want to think far too deep into? Xx

MrsL2019 · 15/11/2023 12:30

Hi all, i was MIA yesterday while working from home and tending to a poorly child. She seems to have perked up a little today so hoping things get better now.

Im 6dpo but no obvious symptoms yet. My CM is creamy, i have lower back ache, some sharp twinges and also had a constant headache the past few days. I am under a lot of stress so its probably just that taking its toll on me! AF is due on tuesday so usually by about sunday i should be spotting if shes arriving.

Hope you are all hanging on! When is everyone else due AF?

Hello everyone. Joining here for this tww. I think I’m 1dpo but not sure. I was so sure ovulation was on Monday had all the signs and cervix back to closed. Tuesday morning bbt didn’t rise and cervix was back to open and ewcm. Today bbt went up to my usual 1dpo temp but cervix is still a bit open, not sure about ewcm as we dtd yesterday and I can’t tell the difference between mucus and sperm.

BatildaB · 15/11/2023 17:28

@MrsL2019 glad she’s feeling a bit better. I had some sharp twinges this morning but that’s definitely a ‘symptom’ that I’ve had most cycles since starting ttc, so I’m not reading much into it. I’m due on Weds - Sat next week, my cycle is a bit variable.

Hi @emmatcc1 . Do you not do lh tracking then? I’ve tried paying attention to what my cervix is up to but it seems pretty random. I’m curious about bbt as this is my first time tracking it. Mine has only really risen four days post lh peak, although was maybe starting to climb the day prior. Can’t work out which is likely to give the most accurate day, do you know? I’m hoping it’s lh as we didn’t manage to dtd again after peak day.

emmatcc1 · 15/11/2023 17:55

@BatildaB I’ve given up tracking with opks but did bbt this month just for fun. I’ve tracked cervix for quite long now and it has always been accurate until now. My bbt the day after ovulation is only 0.1-0.2 higher and the next day it’s a bigger rise. You probably ovulated a day or two after peak.
