FRER evaporation line within timeframe?

Khanga27 · 30/10/2023 11:06

I'm 12dpo I think based on ovulation tests alone, and flo has predicted me a 25 day cycle based on periods before my MMC so has predicted AF to start Thursday. Have had one period since my MMC which started 31 days after my surgical management for RPOC.

I took a FRER this morning and within the timeframe I got such a faint line that I can't even make out if there's colour. Can you get evaporation lines within the timeframe? Am I out for this month? Regretting taking a test this early tbh as I feel if I took one when or after AF was due I'd have more certainty that I was in or out for the month

Sorry with test pic now. I have compared to the test last time I was pregnant and the line at least looks in right place...

FRER evaporation line within timeframe?

I'd wait to see if period is late then take another test

Khanga27 · 30/10/2023 11:24

Yeah I think I will, thanks. I think line was clearer in person than on the picture which looks barely there at all, but even then I couldn't be confident about the colour at the time, just that it was there which made me think evap even though within the 3 min window.

I definitely see it, fingers crossed you get a darker line in a few days 🤞

Khanga27 · 30/10/2023 16:37

@Millie1501 Thank you. I don't want to get too excited but the fact it appeared within the timeframe (albeit so faint) made me hope, because i thought evaporation lines were usually after a while. I would have waited until missing AF or AF coming, but going away later in week and my ability to do certain things depends on the result. But I'll wait another few days (I only have one FRER left, and I can't seem to get any more online or in shop I normally get them from 😪)

I had a similar issue with a FRER back in June; tbh I'm still not sure if it was a real positive and I had a CP or not. I can definitely see what you're seeing.
Can you get the boots early test ones or the clear blue ultra early digital and maybe try them?

Khanga27 · 30/10/2023 16:59

@Bugdem123 Thanks will have a look for boots. My local shop had the early clearblue ones but seen so much about evap lines with them before so was reluctant to buy them. I may pop out to see if I can get the boots ones or see if the FRER ones are available elsewhere. Not sure if they're being discontinued or just a stall in supply affecting their availability?!

I'm frustrated as I'm just feeling now that I wish I hadn't done the test. I would have rather had a clear negative than what feels a bit like a limbo result ha. Going to just try and forget about it until when I actually go away now.

There's an ultra early digital clear blue one that I think is meant to be accurate from 5 days before your period. I definitely wouldn't waste your time with the clear blue line ones.

I know, I say every cycle I'm not going to test until my period is late - I've never managed it once yet 😅

Fingers crossed the line is darker in a couple of days.

Millie1501 · 30/10/2023 18:53

@Khanga27 This is why early testing is a nightmare, it causes more confusion and can get your hopes up. Most of us do it though so don’t beat yourself up. If you do a test soon and it’s negative you will be wondering which test is right. Because if that test is a true positive it is still very early and the hcg is low so there’s a chance you’ll get a false negative. If you give it three days hcg should have doubled in that timeframe so you should get a clearer result. Keep us posted and fingers crossed it’s a positive for you 🤞.

Wednesdaysotherchild · 30/10/2023 19:09

I thought FRER have been withdrawn for being inaccurate. I use wondfo or easy@home strips.

Khanga27 · 30/10/2023 20:13

Thanks all for replies. When trying to find similar with a BFP in the end, I've seen so many posts on here where people have thought they've seen a line and then AF came so they've been gutted it's either an evap or indent line, so i think I've convinced myself now that it's either negative or too early, so going to leave it a few days.

@Wednesdaysotherchild I hadn't seen that, that definitely explains why they don't seem to be available anywhere anymore though! Thanks for the heads up

They seem to have been withdrawn in the UK. I don't think it was for being inaccurate though - that is just the Mumsnet Conception board rumour mill going at full pelt.

Khanga27 · 31/10/2023 10:23

Thanks @curliegirlie. Bought the boots 6 day early ones.

Not taking test today and probably not tomorrow either. I've had some cramp quite low down today and in my legs a little, and been feeling a little sick, so could be heading for start of AF. The more I think about yesterday's test the more I feel it should have been darker based on when I think I ovulated, but I'm only basing this on last pregnancy when I tested back in June. It's hard go not have this consume my head though.

Tried a boots early test which again shows a faint faint line (camera shows it even fainter than it is in real life). DP thinks its more obvious line than FRER but I'm not sure. I am so frustrated that I've had this with two brands now!! I've seen mixed reviews about the boots tests online showing negative when used early for example when person was pregnant. Anyone got experience with these early boots tests?

I'm now 14dpo roughly (based on when I got peak on ovulation test, however only had one period since MMC which took nearly 2 months to resolve so I don't even know if my hormones were reliable for ovulation tests..)

Millie1501 · 01/11/2023 09:02

@Khanga27 Oh that does look like a very faint positive. It seems unlikely that you would get two evaporation lines within the time frame on two different tests. It’s looking good 🤞. You may have ovulated earlier than you think or you may have implanted in the later side. If you can hold off I would wait another couple of days to see if that line gets darker. When is af due?

Khanga27 · 01/11/2023 09:07

@Millie1501 yeah I def will leave it now for a few days, maybe take a test (and some sanitary products) on my trip. AF due tomorrow.

Felt quite sick yesterday and had a migraine since yesterday afternoon that still hasn't cleared today. Not feeling well at all which isn't helping

OP posts:
Millie1501 · 01/11/2023 11:57

The line does look clearer on your second test so I do think there’s a good chance these are early positives 🤞. Do keep us posted.

Khanga27 · 01/11/2023 14:48

Not a great update I'm afraid - had some creamy discharge with a little pink in which I'm guessing could be the start of my period, so looks like I'm out for this month

OP posts:
Khanga27 · 01/11/2023 16:04

I also took a pic as had a brief though it was implantation bleeding (even though i have no idea what that would look like as i didnt get it last time) but decided not to share as I just don't want to give myself false hope 😪

OP posts:
Millie1501 · 01/11/2023 19:13

@Khanga27 Awww I’m very sorry if this is the beginning of your period. You’ll know very soon I’m sure. Definitely could be implantation bleeding of it doesn’t get heavy.

Totters123 · 04/11/2023 22:01

I'm having similar issues with clear blue and im so confused - can anyone help??

These are test 10, 12 and 14 DPO (today). I assumed they were all negative after a couple of minutes and binned them, but I left the most recent on the side, then saw that line a few hours later. I pulled the old ones out the bin like a nutter. I've had had a negative digital test this evening (probably should have waited til the morning but I couldnt bear the wait). Assume this means negative?

Struggling so much with this as have PCOS and trying for over a year now :(

FRER evaporation line within timeframe?
Millie1501 · 05/11/2023 21:21

@Totters123 If it’s outside of the timeframe I’m afraid it doesn’t count. If they were all negative within the timeframe then I would have thought those are negative. When is af due?

Millie1501 · 05/11/2023 21:23

@Totters123 sorry just realised you mentioned pcos so you probably don’t know exactly when you are due af. In all honesty they do like evaporation lines, I am sorry because of course that’s not what you want to hear.

SwordToFlamethrower · 05/11/2023 21:24

No I'd say you're pregnant!

Congratulations!

Khanga27 · 05/11/2023 21:44

@Totters123 I'm afraid I agree with @Millie1501, if the line didn't appear after the 3 minutes and only appeared hours later then these will be evaporation lines which is where a line forms after the urine dries. Clearblue is notorious for this as they still show as they have colour, but if this is hours later then I would say you had a negative test and an evaporation line. Maybe wait another 3-5 days before doing another test if AF doesn't come.

I'm sorry this is probably not what you wanted to hear - TTC can be such a difficult period. It's tricky if you don't know when AF is due, but do you use ovulation tests at all, or do you use early detection tests?
