Aw sorry SM - its shit. You sound just like me - perfect timing etc etc. So, can't advise cos then I'd be getting it right ! I can't remember where you are with doctors etc .. have you been referred for investigations ?

A 5 year gap was my limit too but now I say I'll try until dd is 5 which is January 2010. Don't know if it will creep up as time gets nearer.

It really is a pile of shit. I've spent most of this month being all optimistic - tons of EWCM, loads of sex, funny twinges I'd convinced myself were implantation, etc etc, but I can feel the tell-tale signs of aunty F coming up the garden path, once again.

Met a friend on Friday who's going to spain to have IVF with donor eggs. I'm beginning to wonder if that might be a solution... Doctors have said that I've just been incredibly unlucky (4 MCs, for those that don't know my history), but maybe all my eggs are shot to hell.

SM - I think we've chatted about Hughes syndrome before. Its interesting - I too have some of these symptoms - primarily the pregnancy related ones (m/c, dd was IUGR, I possibly had pre-eclampsia) and also the migraine description is quite spot on for me - I had it as a older child/teenager, went away a bit and has started to come back more I think.... I might mention it at my appointment on thursday - I have been wondering if there's anything that could have caused IUGR/mc/infertility as it seems all too much of a coincidence.

I think its a really hard decision to decide how far to take tests etc. It has taken me this long to get to see a consultant as I was trying to let nature take its course, wasn't sure I wanted invasive tests or IVF if it came to it. We have now reached the conclusion that we will do all we can within the next couple of years - tests, IVF. For us (and this is for us) we need to feel we have tried everything. We agreed over the weekend (or I told DH probably more to the point) that we would give it up to 3 attempts at IVF if it comes to us.... he paled rather at the thought of the cost......

how did you get on at your appointment today wheely? did you mention the migraine thing?

annoyingly the snotty haematology consultant never asked me anything about symptoms just said we'll see what your blood tests show. that was it. i should have asked about this (rather large) deficit in the blood results, but i had to take dd and she really was a cow (the doc, not dd) and although i'm used to dealing with snotty docs it was easier just to leave and wait for results. it does now mean i need to discuss them with someone but i think i'll talk to my obstet first.

itisme · 15/04/2008 18:39

sorry wheely misread your appt is thursday not today

i wasnt actually, i mentioned the thread to someone else and she went on a rant about how she drank throughout her pg and she thinks that im too uptight.

Your friend hasn't a clue Lissie. Best to feel sorry for her ignorance and very sorry for her potential FAS baby, who may have many problems later in life...

OracleInaCoracle · 16/04/2008 11:18

and while the odd drink is not the same as drinking heavily having a series of mc does rather alter the sacrifices you are willing to make in pg and ttc, so all the stats and doctors admissions are not going to convince me.

OracleInaCoracle · 16/04/2008 11:19

thanks duchesse, just pissed me off, and i (rather stupidly it seems) thought that i could come here for a rant.

OracleInaCoracle · 16/04/2008 11:24

OP posts:
duchesse · 16/04/2008 11:57

kin ell Lissie. That's a pain.

And we both know that this is rant-city- that's why we set it up. So of course you can rant here...

OracleInaCoracle · 16/04/2008 12:02

it is. Im so pissed off about it, ds obv cant help being ill, but this time they were going to run some more tests and comeup with an proper game plan.

still, how are you doing?

OP posts:

There's a particularly grr-inducing thread going on at the mo about how quickly various MNers conceived their second child. Rant rant rant.

Especially vexing as I can feel bitch flo approach, after a few days of hopefulness - feel sicky, buzzy mouth, 'different' crampy feelings, tingly nips. For heavens sake body, just give me the same pre-AF symptoms every month, rather than varying them each time to get my hopes up. Bastard.

OracleInaCoracle · 16/04/2008 12:05

thank god for the hide function herby

sorry about imminent period not been in for a while, where are you at the mo?

OP posts:
duchesse · 16/04/2008 12:12

herby- that's been my experience since I had the Mirena removed in June 2003. I used to have very reliable cycles and symptoms- now I struggle to spot the arrival of my period- I am caught out practically every month, after PMS that is vastly similar to early pregnancy, and also after timing everything to perfection at the crucial time. I'm in fuckitwhatthehell mode though and have been for months. Still a pain when I start bleeding virtually unexpectedly (although I still vaguely know which week to expect it).
