and frankly am so shite at it that it's not worth it....

i have a couple of questions.

i've been testing for ovulation this month, and for the last three days have had positive?

is this feasible? for 3 days? or is there something wrong with me.

didn't use first pee of day as per instructions.

also, i am pretty late in my cycle, CD20! is that feasible too?

want to really go for it, as dh has finally agreed that we should, and appears to be taking it very seriously

any help or pisstaking gratefully received!

um, dunno about the ovulation/wee/temp stuff, but why don't you shag him just in case?

Twiglett · 06/03/2008 20:41

once you have a positive you're supposed to stop testing .. because you'll ovulate within the next 24 - 48 hours

yes it is more than feasible to ovulate on CD20 .. I used to ovulate on CD23 .. by charting for 3 months we identified I had an issue with my luteal phase (ov to beginning of period) being shorter than 10 days meant I couldn't conceive without help

good luck soph

Pesha · 06/03/2008 20:42

Yes I would just shag anyway!

No more helpful advice than that though I'm afraid - sorry.

bethoo · 06/03/2008 20:42

i also had three days of strong lines, go for it though unlikely to conceive if having sex after the lines have shown.

Lulumama · 06/03/2008 20:42

your cycle can be funny if you have come off hormonal contraception. don;t know about OPK or anything, but good luck !

Heathcliffscathy · 06/03/2008 20:43

have been have been.

ooo shit, am in tears, you remember my threads don't you? i'm so fucking happy that we're finally doing this [tearful smiling emoticon]

thanks both

surely eggs live for 24-48 hours?

Twiglett · 06/03/2008 20:43

oh and we were also advised that sex every 2 days was best for sperm

but as soon as positive OPK start da shag .. or shag up to and around

SenoraPostrophe · 06/03/2008 20:44

am vpleased for you btw.

Disenchanted · 06/03/2008 20:44

Hiya,

for it to be positive it has to be DARKER than the control line...

in this picture ONLY the last one is actully +

Heathcliffscathy · 06/03/2008 20:44

haven't been on pill for eons.

twig, should i worry, does late ovulations mean prob? what help?

OP posts:
Heathcliffscathy · 06/03/2008 20:45

yes yes, very dark line, darker.

Disenchanted · 06/03/2008 20:45

It doesnt dectect OVULATION as such, it detects the LH surge (leutenizing hormone) that happens 24/48 hours before ovulation.

Tutter · 06/03/2008 20:45

just go for it every other day from a week or so after your period stops

that should do it

(this, from woman who was soooo obsessed pre-ds1 - who read every book, bouht every test, tried every tip)

Disenchanted · 06/03/2008 20:46

Did you know that ovulation tests come up positive when you are pregnant?

Twiglett · 06/03/2008 20:46

no do not worry .. but keep charting

really nothing to worry about

what cd is your period normally?

Heathcliffscathy · 06/03/2008 20:47

lol tutter. good advice. not so easy with a ds that keeps walking into our room though!

but we'll try!

OP posts:
Tutter · 06/03/2008 20:47

do you know about other general tips? keep hydrated. avoid anti-histamines. if you want to be just a little barking, drink grapefruit juice

beaniesteve · 06/03/2008 20:47

that's wrong isn't it - that you are unlikely conceive after the lines have shown? The line only shows a surge which takes place before you ovulate. You are unlikely to conceive AFTER you ovulate but a surge doesn't mean ovulation has happened - it means it's about to happen.... surely shirley....

ladytophamhatt · 06/03/2008 20:47

awww, no advice just want to wish you good luck

Heathcliffscathy · 06/03/2008 20:48

i think it is about a 30 day cycle. think.

i need to start charting don't i? that would be good. is there an online one i can use.

jesus mn is my mum sometimes.

YUP beanie,

if you get a + you will ovulate soon, it doesnt mean you are of have done.

Thomcat · 06/03/2008 20:48

Soph - I love you
Really happy you're happy, that you're going for it.
Good luck lovely lady and fingers crossed for a quick one! xxxx

Heathcliffscathy · 06/03/2008 20:49

gosh tutter thanks for those, had no idea at all.

ds was pretty easy (3 cycles bobs your uncle) but that was five years ago....

Tutter · 06/03/2008 20:49

if you are going to chart, buy "taking charge of your fertility" by toni weschler

but seriously, it boils down to: wait til you haev the right kind of gunge then go for it
