TTC for 18+ months and feeling low!

Natty2 · 02/09/2023 14:42

I'm fairly new at this forum and decided to join after TTC since the start of 2022
We discovered earlier this year that my DH morphology was low, although all other results were normal. He implemented life style changes straight away, and even went through a varicocele embolisation a few months ago, so we're waiting to see if that's helped.

Having gone through the rest of the year undergoing tests everything seems normal, so the NHS are not letting us even get on the IVF list until 2024. It's been such a long, physical and emotional journey and there seems to be no end in sight.

Anyone else going through similar things? I feel like I live life in 2 week cycles and it's so hard to try and not think about it all!!
Any tips?!

@Natty2 oooh that is quick! I know what you mean about wanting to chill over Christmas. I would prefer that if I was you

missmoosh · 07/12/2023 16:00

@Natty2 yeah if you have a lot of plans I defo would wait until after, be more relaxed then! I still have the meds in the fridge in case anything goes wrong for us! Fridge space is defo something you need lots of! 😂 Fingers crossed it works first time for you!

missmoosh · 16/12/2023 14:19

@Natty2 hey just wanted to check how everything was going for you?!

Natty2 · 16/12/2023 15:06

@missmoosh thank you for asking!
13dpo today which means of course spotting has started 🙄
But that means the 4 week countdown to ivf can begin at least.

How are you getting on?

OP posts:
missmoosh · 16/12/2023 15:34

@Natty2 oh no! Sorry to hear that but how exciting your so close to starting Ivf now!! Do keep us updated when it all gets going! You must be getting really excited! Have you got meds yet??

So far going well, had a scan last week as I was concerned of no symptoms and a temp drop. Saw the heartbeat and measured 6+5 😊 got another scan next weekend so hoping all is still well! My symptoms arrived the day after the early scan and I have been puking all day for the last few days and been off work with nausea all week!

Natty2 · 04/01/2024 13:27

Hope everyone is well and hoping for a happy new year for us all!
How is everyone getting on?

My ivf meds arrive next week and due to start hopefully by next weekend 🤞 just booked my first acupuncture session for next week too, to try and do everything possible for success 🤞🤞

@Natty2 ahhh so exciting! I was thinking you must be starting soon the other day and meant to message!
So close now for you, how are you feeling about it all?

I'm unfortunately suffering from hyperemesis, been off work for a month already! But it will all be worth it! Have our 12 week scan in 2 weeks which I'm super excited and very nervous for!

Natty2 · 04/01/2024 21:18

@missmoosh oh no poor you 😔
Will definitely all be worth it though and hope you're not suffering for too long. Good luck for your scan!

I'm feeling similar, excited and nervous! Feels really strange to be getting closer to starting now!

@missmoosh oh no, hope you're feeling better soon

@Natty2 good luck with starting, hope it all goes well for you!

We have our first appointment at the clinic next Wednesday. Had a lot of paperwork too which makes it feel more real. We're going on holiday in February so earliest we can start is March I guess but I don't know how long the wait will be for an IVF slot. Assuming we get the OK and the funding approved.

Natty2 · 06/01/2024 07:46

@LucyLoopyLu thank you!
Sounds like you are making good progress too, I found that after funding was approved things moved very quickly! Not long until March and nice to have a holiday to look forward to before it all begins

@Natty2 thank you!
Feels much more real now after the appointment yesterday. Nurse appointment at the end of February and then should be starting approx. third week in March when I get my period.
Glad I have some time to get my head around it all before then

How are you doing?

Natty2 · 11/01/2024 13:22

@LucyLoopyLu that's exciting! Really good that you've got something to work towards as well. Glad it's all coming together!

I'm doing ok thank you, my meds arrived on Monday which feels very surreal! I'm just waiting for my day 1 which could be anytime between tomorrow- Monday I think.

@missmoosh must be your 12 week scan soon? Good luck!

@Natty2 how exciting that your meds have arrived! How are you feeling? I know I cried when mine arrived, the sudden realisation it was happening (albeit it never did). Let us know when all the injections kick off!

Yes 12 week scan is on Wednesday next week, I will be 12+2 based on dating from early scan. Praying little bean is still doing well!

@LucyLoopyLu glad to hear there is a plan in place for you now. Hopefully this is the light at the end of a very dark tunnel for you both.

Natty2 · 11/01/2024 18:04

@missmoosh yeah it was quite emotional getting them!
My bbt has been really high this month so we did test yesterday but it was a bfn. To be honest I was actually ok with that though! As this is an nhs round I'm hoping that we can just freeze a good amount of embryos so we don't have to pay for the whole process again. That's our main mission now as we know the first transfer has a low % of success.
I'll be doing everything possible though to hope it will work!

Fingers crossed for your scan! Hope you've not been suffering too much with the sickness

@Natty2 that's exciting that your medication has arrived, I can totally understand it was a bit overwhelming. I felt a bit overwhelmed just seeing my protocol written out yesterday. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Are you just waiting for AF now?

@missmoosh thanks so much. Glad to hear you're doing well although 12 week scan next week seems to have come around fast! Would love to hear any updates and wishing you all the best

HalloumiGeller · 11/01/2024 21:44

I firmly believe that its the actively trying to conceive that stops you from actually conceiving! It's surprising what stress does to your body!

Myself and partner conceived on our 3rd cycle of, and I swear it's because on the 3rd one we weren't trying, as we both believed we had missed the window due to me being away.

I know its hard, but you need to relax, don't measure your temp, do ovulation tests etc, and just go with it. Have things to look forward to etc.

Natty2 · 12/01/2024 06:33

@HalloumiGeller I think that may be the case for unexplained but unfortunately we were diagnosed with issues therefore starting ivf this month

@LucyLoopyLu @missmoosh 13dpo... which means as usual my day 1 has arrived. Will be calling my clinic this morning and injections start tomorrow!

Wow. Read the room. You conceived on your third cycle and think you're qualified to give us all advice? I've literally just seen a consultant this week to kick start IVF. Pretty sure I will be listening to her opinion more than yours.

Also I've been trying for nearly two years. Do you really think I haven't had cycles where I've been relaxed? I literally went on a once in a lifetime holiday to a tropical island last year and guess what, no BFP.

LucyLoopyLu · 12/01/2024 10:28

@Natty2 wow exciting times! Sending you lots of luck, hope the injections go well x

missmoosh · 12/01/2024 10:54

@Natty2 ahh it begins! Glad AF didn't have you hanging around waiting for it to start! Hopefully your first try is a sticky bean and you don't have to go through it all again, but I totally understand the mentality of bank as many as you can as that's what I was thinking at the time too! Don't be too disheartened if you don't get lots though, from what I read the first round is trial and error on the protocol.

I have the dreaded hyperemesis, so the sickness has been brutal I can't lie. It's very hard mentally as I want the baby so much and I don't want to moan, given how lucky I feel to be pregnant. But at the same time I feel like death haha!

@LucyLoopyLu yes it has come round so quickly, I'm praying all is well! And also well said in response to that other poster. I'm not even going to bother responding to the comment, I think I would find myself abruptly removed from mumsnet if I said what I thought of it!!!

Natty2 · 12/01/2024 13:01

Thank you both!
And @LucyLoopyLu 🙌🙌

@missmoosh oh no, that sounds grim. I think you're still allowed to complain and grumble about feeling so poorly. Hope it passes soon for you in second trimester x

kalixxx · 12/01/2024 15:14

@Natty2 I’ve not posted on this thread for a while but do check in now and then.

Just wanted to say good luck and I’m rooting for you! X

@Natty2 @LucyLoopyLu @missmoosh So lovely to get the notification and see all your updates!

@Natty2 and @LucyLoopyLu wishing you the best of luck for starting the next step! I’m sure it’s a mixture of emotions but looking forward to hearing how everything progresses for you both!

@missmoosh Good Luck for your 12 week scan! I know the mixture of excitement and nerves ❤️ Sorry to hear about your sickness that sounds very challenging - I hope it passes for you and you feel better as you go into the second trimester!
