TTC for 18+ months and feeling low!

Natty2 · 02/09/2023 14:42

I'm fairly new at this forum and decided to join after TTC since the start of 2022
We discovered earlier this year that my DH morphology was low, although all other results were normal. He implemented life style changes straight away, and even went through a varicocele embolisation a few months ago, so we're waiting to see if that's helped.

Having gone through the rest of the year undergoing tests everything seems normal, so the NHS are not letting us even get on the IVF list until 2024. It's been such a long, physical and emotional journey and there seems to be no end in sight.

Anyone else going through similar things? I feel like I live life in 2 week cycles and it's so hard to try and not think about it all!!
Any tips?!

@Emz09 good news 🙂 glad things are moving in the right direction!

Natty2 · 26/11/2024 18:57

@Emz09 great to hear! I stopped testing after the 3+ as it was so nice to finally see that. Do you have your first scan booked in?

All ok here thanks, 28 weeks this week! 🤯 on our third antenatal class this evening too.

@LucyLoopyLu hope you are doing ok, you must have less than a month until due date?

@Natty2 glad you're doing well!

I'm 36 weeks tomorrow (or Friday according to the hospital). I've got a growth scan tomorrow as well so hopefully everything is still looking ok. She's definitely active which makes me feel a bit more relaxed.

Foreverhopeful92 · 26/11/2024 20:20

Lovely to get a notification for this thread and to read all your exciting news ladies! Congratulations! 🥳🎉

Emz09 · 04/12/2024 17:29

Guys I need help/advice....food aversions have hit! I literally don't want to eat anything but I'm so hungry which is making me feel so sick. Did any of you suffer with this? Hope you're all well xx

CatCaretaker · 04/12/2024 17:34

@Emz09 yes I did (and I would normally eat ANYTHING so it was very odd). There was a short list of things I could eat without vomiting, and I just stuck to those. It was very boring and didn't include things that I normally love.

For me the worst was eggs. I love eggs but couldn't even look at them for a while. It only lasted 2/3 weeks for me, so I just coped and then it went as quickly as it came. All gone by week 12/13 and I was back to normal.

Natty2 · 06/12/2024 06:27

@Emz09 yes! My food aversions hit at 6 weeks exactly and tbh I've only just gone back to eating chicken in the last week! It does get better, but it did take me a while to slowly reintroduce things.
Find things that you can tolerate and stick to those. Also found my nausea got worse if I was hungry so keep up with your healthy snacks!

@Natty2 glad to hear it gets better, at the moment I don't fancy a single thing. Trying to eat is like doing a bush tucker trial and then drinking is hard cause I don't want to eat. Going to contact the GP today not sure they can even help but I feel awful and have lost weight already.

CatCaretaker · 06/12/2024 09:37

@Emz09 I lost weight too during that time. I think it's entirely normal, don't worry. I'm now 36 weeks and baby is absolutely fine, though I lost a few kg over about 3 weeks.

Natty2 · 06/12/2024 13:39

@Emz09 hope you had some luck with the GP. Don't worry about losing weight, I lost about 2kg in my first trimester too and there wasn't much to me to begin with! Hope you feel better soon

Hi all! Thank you all for the advice, I think I turned a corner once I forced myself to just keep eating what I could. Once the hunger was manageable then the sickness felt better! Had our clinic scan today and baby is looking perfect at the moment and measuring spot on for 7 weeks 6 days.

I hope everyone is doing ok xxx

CatCaretaker · 12/12/2024 18:33

@Emz09 that's great news. The scans are so reassuring aren't they!

LucyLoopyLu · 12/12/2024 18:50

@Emz09 fantastic news! Glad you're eating a bit better now as well x

Natty2 · 12/12/2024 19:50

@Emz09 that's great news! So pleased to hear. Look forward to hearing your updates!

Hope everyone else is well too

Hi ladies, hope you’re all doing well! I know a few of you have been through the fertility clinic so I was wondering if anyone could answer my question!

My partner had genetic counselling blood tests around 2 months ago now. I emailed the clinic and she said they’re still waiting on one more result. She didn’t comment on the others and it’s made me think maybe something is wrong? Or do they just prefer to discuss all results at an appointment even if they’re fine?

Natty2 · 23/12/2024 20:00

Hi @kalixxx sorry for the delay. My DH had them all in one go so I'm not sure if they would hold back on giving the results until they're all in. Have you heard anymore?

How's everyone else getting on?
@LucyLoopyLu not long left!

CatCaretaker · 23/12/2024 22:40

@Natty2 39 weeks today, still loving every minute of it (even though I found my feet quite swollen this evening). How are you getting on?

LucyLoopyLu · 26/12/2024 16:03

Hi all.
Managed to get past Christmas day without the baby coming which is great! Tomorrow will probably be our last quiet day at home as we're booked for induction on Sat (28th). Feeling happy with the decision but apprehensive too!

Hope everyone else is well and having a lovely Christmas time x

Nosejug · 26/12/2024 17:05

@Natty2 oh my, your OP came up in my feed today and without looking at the date I was about to blunder into responding me too! With 3yr ttc and partner low morphology, who had the same vascular surgery to help. We're currently on ivf round two. First round was unsuccessful (just one failed fresh transfer) then a spontaneous first oregnancy&miscarriage two months back. It gave me joy to read that you're actually rather pregnant! Like a Time Machine briefly looking back through the thread. Hoping one day someone will see my own posts and read a happy ending :)

Natty2 · 01/01/2025 08:43

@LucyLoopyLu @CatCaretaker hope you are both doing ok?!

@Nosejug so sorry to hear about your journey so far. How are you getting on with round 2?
Hope you get your happy ending this year 🫶🏼

Aw thanks @Natty2 :)
Injections all going fine, more of them this time (5 one day!) but they’re no longer a stress to me. Follicle count only 6 this time which is a shame, but I’ve been gifted some nice positive stories on mumsnet with low follicle count so still feeling positive :) hill walk today to make use of another sober New Year’s Eve!

happy new year to you! Hope you enjoyed crossing the threshold with a sprog in tow!

CatCaretaker · 01/01/2025 14:40

Thanks @Natty2 . Baby girl arrived at 7:31am Monday morning, 8 pounds 2 ounces. She's perfect.

Natty2 · 02/01/2025 07:52

@Nosejug glad the injections are going in well. I felt the same with our second round, didn't seem to phase me anymore putting the injections in!
Fingers crossed for you 🤞🤞

@CatCaretaker that's wonderful news, congrats! Enjoy these precious moments 🥰

@kalixxx Just to say when we had some fertility tests done at a private clinic they wouldn’t give us the results over email or phone even though mine came in quicker than DHs.
We had to have an appointment to go through them which was their policy irrespective of the results.
Being cynical I expect it was to charge us an extra appointment fee! But their reasoning was so that they could discuss and answer any questions we had about the tests themselves and the results.
To reassure you - my results that came in early were the ones that were fine so they weren’t holding them back for the reason of there being an issue.

kalixxx · 05/01/2025 00:34

@Foreverhopeful92 Thank you, this made me feel a lot better! I’ve not chased them again because it’s been Christmas but we’re still waiting for the results an our appointment. NHS is a very long process 😖
