1DPO... any cycle buddies out there?

I'm currently TTC following a miscarriage at 12 weeks on 5th August. I haven't had a period yet but we decided not to wait, as I'm desperate to be pregnant again and I think that is the only thing that will make me feel better about the loss. I have been tracking ovulation and did catch my peak so now just hoping I've got the timing of DTD right.

Just wondering if anyone out there TTC is around the same time in their cycle so that we can chat to each other really. I think I'm already driving my husband mad, it would be nice to speak to other people who really understand how I'm feeling! 😊

Also I read this really interesting paper about the characteristics of LH surges, and it prompted me to keep testing after I got my positive because apparently you can have a double peak. It turns out I am a single peak-er as expected, but I have a slow rise, which means I should be able to spot it coming earlier next month…

@Amberellalina Oh I'm happy that you're feeling positive about things 😊 I am too, as I've realised our timings were actually quite good this month. I'm terrible at remembering to take the pregnancy vitamins though so who knows! Will you be able to access ivf through the nhs?

Yes I know you're right about the psychic 🤣 ridiculous really but I guess I'm just desperate and clutching at straws! Interesting about the double peak, I may also continue testing just to see!

OP posts:
moosey89 · 28/09/2023 13:21

@Amberellalina sadly can't get a prescription until I see the consultant apparently which seems ridiculous given I know and have tests saying it's too low! B6 I already take along with lots of other vitamins haha

Amberellalina · 29/09/2023 07:20

@moosey89 that’s annoying! The nhs is rubbish for fertility isn’t it? Based on what I’ve read online, American women seem to get much more help!

@Kewchoc alas we’d have to pay for the IVF ourselves since we already have a child together.

Sending positivity to everyone for the weekend.

moosey89 · 29/09/2023 09:00

@Amberellalina well only if you have the right insurance! That's the upside of the US system, it's all about money so doctors are more likely to do more tests sooner as it's more dollars in their pocket!

Kewchoc · 29/09/2023 11:28

Oh it's so ridiculous how it all works isn't it. Also very annoying that most of these decisions are likely made by men 🙄

Kewchoc · 30/09/2023 07:39

How's everyone feeling today? Do we all have nice weekends planned?

Not toooooo long left til we can start testing now 🤞🏼 I must say I'm really enjoying this thread, I sometimes find other threads difficult to follow when there's a lot of people on them but I think there's a nice number of us in here 😊

OP posts:
Amberellalina · 30/09/2023 07:53

Yes, I agree 😊it’s easier to keep track of people and their individual stories so I feel invested in everyone’s journey in a way that’s difficult with the busy threads!

Not much planned for the weekend, the weather forecast looks a bit variable and because we prefer to be outdoors if we can we’ll just play it by ear! How about you?

On the subject of testing, I’ve just ordered some pdg testing strips (first time I’ve used them) which are supposed to be a measure of progesterone. According to Premom I do this on Wednesday… Not sure if it’s reliable (maybe @moosey89 will know?) but I thought it would break up the TWW at least!

moosey89 · 30/09/2023 09:10

@Amberellalina ah I'm afraid I'm not too sure on standalone home urine tests - I've only done the home blood test which was very accurate! I do use Mira which does analyse progesterone and that seemed to align with both a home blood test and an NHS one so hopefully they're accurate!

I'm actually feeling a bit down. Feel like it won't be my month again but can't put my finger on why. I am currently 7dpo so nothing to really tell me I'm out but yeah...just not feeling positive!

Agathapoirot · 30/09/2023 09:26

Hey, hope you’re all doing well, and surviving the TWW!

I got my peak yesterday morning, at least I think I did, still not convinced in testing at the right time and not drinking too much 🤣 but it means ovulation day is today and is CD15 which sounds about right 🤣

Got two really busy weeks at work now and a marathon to run next weekend all being well so hopefully that will keep me busy in the TWW

@moosey89 - hopefully it’s not too long of a wait to see a consultant and get what you need, so rubbish that they can’t just help now that you’ve got all the info you need!

No weekend plans here, looking forward to a quiet one 🤩

Kewchoc · 30/09/2023 11:59

@Amberellalina I'm interesting in the pdg strips... I really haven't looked into it but presuming that higher levels of pdg mean it's more likely you'll conceive? We have absolutely nothing planned this weekend but I'm glad really, I'm absolutely shattered at the minute so I'm glad for a rest!

@moosey89 oh bless you 😞 as you know, 7DPO is still so early so you're in with a chance although I do know what you mean about that feeling of being out for the month, it's shit. Hope you feel better soon 💕

@Agathapoirot oh it's good that you're busy at work, I'm the same at the min and it definitely helps the time pass more quickly and is a good distraction!

OP posts:
moosey89 · 30/09/2023 12:19

Thanks @Kewchoc - yeah it's just a feeling I can't shake. I'm really not very optimistic about my chances full stop given my experiences, and I know a positive test is only step one which then makes me feel even worse! 🙈

Kewchoc · 30/09/2023 12:24

@moosey89 that makes sense, it's hard anyway to be positive after one negative experience never mind when it's something that is so fragile such as a pregnancy. One thing that does make me feel better is thinking about positive stories from people I know... one of my friends actually had four early miscarriages in a row but has since had two healthy children without any intervention. I know she was convinced it would never happen but then all of a sudden, it did!

OP posts:
Kewchoc · 30/09/2023 13:38

So I've received this very vague letter this morning regarding my miscarriage (presumably, I haven't had any other procedures recently) but I'm so confused and don't know what it means or why they've tested anything. I didn't think they tested the lost babies until after three miscarriages, have any of you received anything similar?

@Amberellalina could your science brain explain this any better?!

Would help if I posted the photo wouldn't it!

@Kewchoc if you have surgical management they do some testing - not genetics etc that you get after 3, I'm not entirely sure what exactly they are looking at but it feels like it's some super basic tests like infection markers or something! I got asked on my surgery form if I wanted testing and I said yes (said yes twice now with no idea how yay they actually test 🤣)

moosey89 · 30/09/2023 14:21

*how they actually test, that should say!

Crazydogladie · 30/09/2023 17:15

Hi guys, hope the TWW is going ok. I’m 3DPO today and already starting to go loopy! Really moody for the last few days for some reason. I won’t test until 10DPO but that’s the day I go on holidays which may be a bad idea 😅 having a quiet weekend which is needed so trying to get myself in a calm headspace for the next week.

Kewchoc · 30/09/2023 17:59

@moosey89 Ahh okay thank you, that makes sense. I don't remember anyone ever discussing it with me but I didn't technically have surgery so maybe that's why I didn't fill a form in. I don't really know what I had to be honest I just know it was incredibly traumatic!

@Crazydogladie haha I'm also 3DPO and also moody! But I think that's more to do with being tired, for me. I'm sorry if you've already said but I've lost track of everyone's individual stories, do you have any dc already? When I was pregnant with my little boy I literally had no symptoms, so I try to remind myself of that when I start going down the crazy symptom spotting hole that I'm trying to get out of. Sometimes it does help for about 10 mins 🤣

Amberellalina · 30/09/2023 19:33

Ooh, busy day on the thread!

@Kewchoc yep, I got a letter like that too (I did have surgery). It is for things like infection, but also for molar pregnancy I think. When I saw my doctor last week she had access to the details (that weren’t in the letter) and she said my tests found it was bits of placenta hanging around and nothing sinister.

Sorry you’re feeling down @moosey89. You might not be out yet, and even if you are then you’re also one month closer to your referral and progesterone prescription. Sending a hug x

Welcome to the TWW @Agathapoirot! Yes, I imagine training for a marathon might be a distraction… well done though in advance. Do you do them often?

@Crazydogladie I’m with you - I woke up with a zit and was like ‘Ooh I wonder if that’s an early symptom?’ Rather than just a consequence of my daughter regularly pawing at my face with her sticky toddler fingers, which lets face it is far more likely…

4dpo here, not too mad so far, though probably just on the come down from the opk testing mayhem!

Crazydogladie · 30/09/2023 19:44

Yeah I think my moodiness is more TWW stress than a symptom this early - will try to keep the symptom spotting under control at least until next week 😅@Kewchoc I have no DC, this would be our first. I’m nearly 34 so feeling the pressure to get things started! I never thought about my age until I started TTC hah. Hope your feeling ok after that letter, good that all was normal but it must have been a jolt to get out of the blue!

Agathapoirot · 30/09/2023 20:30

I’ve always run a bit, but got the bug after covid when I was trying to lose a bit of weight and joined a running club. This will be my fourth marathon in 2 years, and to be honest entered after the mc as a new focus. I honestly don’t think I would have survived the last few months without it. Clears my head, gives me perspective and a reset. Although the neighbours probably have thought I’m a complete weirdo running down the road crying sometimes 🤣🤣🤣

When are you all planning on testing? I’m really hoping I can hold out until my period is actually late this month! I’ve got no tests in the house as I have no trust in myself 🤣

Kewchoc · 01/10/2023 07:35

@Crazydogladie Haha, there's nothing like TTC to make you feel old is there?! I'm almost 33 which I'm aware is still fairly young but it's hard not to worry about it still at the minute. Thanks, I did feel ok when I first got it but then as the day went on started feeling quite down about it as it feels like there is just constant reminders of the mc and it makes it impossible to move on!

@Agathapoirot That makes sense, I do think exercise is so good for our mental health. I actually found the opposite after my mc though, I had still been going to the gym while I was pregnant so then I found it really difficult to go back when I was suddenly "not pregnant". I do wish I'd found it a good escape like you have though because now I spend my days sat on our sofa feeling sorry for myself and piling weight on!!

I would also like to wait until missed period to test but god knows whether I'll manage that, I've already ordered a box of 20 pregnancy tests 🤣 we go away on Thursday which is when I'll be 8DPO so if I manage to hold out til then I'll be happy

moosey89 · 01/10/2023 08:15

Thanks @Amberellalina - did a urine progesterone test today and it is so so low, there's absolutely no way I'm pregnant this month. I had a feeling but I'm still devastated 😞. 2 months until miscarriage clinic appointment but could be ages until fertility clinic. I hate all this, I hate how unfair it is and how some people have no issues at all or even don't really care about having kids and can just get pregnant! Why does it have to be so hard 😔

Amberellalina · 01/10/2023 18:11

Sorry to hear that @moosey89 it is so so horrible to see a blank space where the second line should be... I guess just keep pestering the docs until you get your referral?

You’re all spring chickens 😀I was 38 when I got pregnant with DD!! I hadn’t really thought about it until then either, but now I’m obviously wishing I’d got started earlier. You are all clearly much more sensible that me!

Hopefully the pdg test on Tuesday will satisfy my urge to poas for a while. Hoping to wait until Saturday for the hcg. I only have easy@home tests in so I might also order a pack of frer before then.
