Reading premom ovulation charts! Confused!

Hello! So I've started the past few days tracking ovulation and looking for some advice from the pros as I am confused how to read!

My cycles are abit haywire. Have 2 kids and hormone levels are normal so not pcos i have been told. At times my cycle can be 28 days for months like clockwork and then another fee months of 42 day cycles. The past 2 cycles have been 42 days long. This month is the first month we are going to start trying so thought I'd buy the easy @ home ovulation tests. I've read mixed things and unsure to know when is peak and what the numbers mean. How do people know with the numbers when they are due to ovulate? Feel the estimation could be wrong cause my period csn be allover the place! Just confusing myself! Does anyone have experience of this or similar cycles ? I've attached a picture of my chart over the past 4 days since my period ended.

Hi @Scotmum256 that looks very close to reaching high and then peak levels. You should maybe try testing twice a day now if possible as it can rise quickly then drop back down. The best time to test is usually afternoon and evening. It looks to me like you're nearly ovulating so hopefully it means your cycle is returning to its normal length

Would this be the correct time for ovulation if it was returning to a normal cycle? I thought it was maybe too close after my period finishing but then when I seen the chart rising it really confused me. Night time do you mean 7ish or later like 10 or 11? Sorry I probably sound daft but just want to make sure I am doing it properly so I get correct readings!

@Scotmum256 I'll add my chart and tests here for you to give you an idea. I was due to ovulate on cd 16 this cycle but because I hit the peak earlier the app automatically moved it forward a few days to cd13 which it'll probably do with yours when you hit peak

Not daft at all, it's such a minefield. I think the main thing is not to test with fmu, even 2nd urine would be better.. you can see how much mine fluctuated in just a few hours. I wasn't due to enter fertile window until 5 or 6 days after AF but as I was tracking and it was getting jogger the app knew to move it. It's a really great way of predicting cycles going forward

Ah ok so it can move it. Thats geest actually. So yous think I should test twice per day and looks like it might peak sooner than it suggested ? Thanks for sharing that it's good to see !

It definitely is a minefield and I'm thinking it however long it takes to conceive it will be good regardless to pre emt my periods and have a record of them anyway!

Yeah it's a great way of predicting cycle. I initially started the app last year just to gauge my periods as I'd just come off birth control. I Didn't start actively ttc until early this year. I've had a MMC and chemical since then which have messed up cycles a bit but the app does move it when it starts to rise which is great... one thing I would add is listen to your body too. I started to get ewcm and ov pain earlier than it predicted, I should have known my levels would jump and I'd be in window sooner than I thought. So I feel like I lost 2 days where I could have dtd more but hoping it's been enough 🤞

Fingers crossed for you @Sez281 ! It'd good it recalculates and is a school day for me as I didn't think it was possible to ovulate this early in a cycle so I'll see over the next few days and hopefully I manage to see a peak

Well confused as done another test and it was down to 0.12 so god knows what's going on😂 time will tell I suppose...hopefully.

Thanks @Scotmum256 you too.. I should have added don't worry if it goes down a bit before it goes up again. It's normal to fluctuate a bit each day. Your low test tonight may have been too diluted. I'd say lunchtime and dinner time going forward maybe 🤷‍♀️Ov day is day after peak so If you're cycle day 9 today and got that higher reading earlier I'd say another 2-3 days and you'll hit it... it's trial and error really

@Sez281 thank you for replying and informing! It is a mine field women really are complicated creatures aren't we lol. I checked today and its went back up to 0.41 so will check again this afternoon and see. So it's normal for it to go down then back up. From your charts I did notice that and it peaked rapidly. Amazing actually x

So testing still and do far this is my readings ..is it normal for it to stay like this for days until I hit ovulation then it goes back down? When I was reading online It seemed as if most people's lows were 0.20 so though mines looked higher than normal for being low ? Confused.com lol

My lows are around that. I had one high this week randomly and it was .86. I've only just started temping and using this app so I'm not quite sure what the different levels are.

How do you find temping ? I'm confused aswell tbh. Was hoping my charts would be like other people's and quite obvious and see a peak. Today I have quite abit of ewcm amd cervix has went high but reading is low. Confused me so much don't know what's going on tbh!

I've only been temping about a week or so, so it's not long enough to really see a pattern. I have irregular cycles, I think, so every aspect of this is frustrating haha. I like how the app reads my OPKs for me and interprets them.

@IsLarryFromSomething I'm the same with irregular cycles its extremely frustrating.. I'm only.dping ovulation tests but maybe temp next month as its perhaps more accurate to do both. Today got highest reading of 0.66 but still low. Tmi but have some ewcm so hoping I'll get a positive ovulation test soon! On cd 16 today. What are you?

Honestly, with the strangeness of my periods this summer, either I am on CD80 something or I am on CD21. (I've had what I consider heavy spotting but after a lot of reading I'm wondering if my periods are presenting differently the further I get from being on the pill.) It's a very stressful mystery 😅

Premom is now saying I have ovulated and to take a pregnancy test towards the end of my cycle. So....I'll do that I guess!

@IsLarryFromSomething ah ok you were on thr pill! Takes a while to come out your system I suppose. I'd take a bleed as a period as they can fluctuate and be light and heavy.

I've tested again today and back down to .034 and stick is very light. Also read online your supposed to hold urine in for 4 hours before doing ovulation tests?! Is this true do u know? If so then I haven't been doing that so probably messed it up.

Probably worth giving up this month as charts qre haywire. Dissapointing as I really hoped I'd see a peak nice and simple like others! My luck lol

It calculated my peak based on the opks and bbt so perhaps that is helpful for seeing a pattern. Actually now that I'm a few days past the supposed peak I can see it.

The app says the best time to take an opk is between 10am and 8pm. I had been hitting that on holiday when I started the app but now that I'm back at work, when I do it really early the app scolds me and says to take another one in the afternoon. I haven't seen anything about holding for 4 hours (but I have for pregnancy tests).

@IsLarryFromSomething ah ok. Yeah it's difficult isn't it with work etc . Can you take teats to work to do at lunch ? I Done that today and I eventually think I am going to ovulate soon. I got my first high reading of 0.89 and noticed test changed very fast compared to other days. Premom has me as ovulation today so suppose it is out by a couple of days.

No, it's not possible unfortunately but on days when I have taken 2 readings, it doesn't seem to have much of a difference, so I'm not too concerned about the timing. Other websites say different things anyway!

@IsLarryFromSomething ah ok at least you are getting some sort of reading though. Have you had any luck the past days or any signs ? I eventually peaked today didn't have a high before but think I maybe missed thst yesterday as I didn't test for nearly 24 hours. My peak wasn't as high as others snd was 0.89 but will take it !

@IsLarryFromSomething what do ya think? Had to take it out the test for the camera to pick it up. The line is def blue not clear . So faint though so will prob need to retest!
