Does anyone use CB ovulation tests? I used my first this morning, I clearly didn't read the instructions properly & dipped the window and not the tip and wondered why it wasn't working. I've only got a pack of 10 as they're so expensive 🙈 how many times a day should I be testing? Should I be DTD as soon as I get a flashing smiley? I've heard some people get a flashing smiley for 6 + days beforehand & with a young DC it's hard fitting in the time!

Sending baby dust to all ❤️

A fertility expertni spoke to said using OPKs alone is not really reliable.
Sometimes when you get that line darker or as dark as the control you may have already or just ovulated. So the key is to use your entire fertile week plus a few days after for maximum chances of conception. We startes to DTD every 2nd day 6days before my Positive and then a further 4 days after and now back to every 3 days until AF decides to show up.

Last month got my + on CD15 and this month CD20.

Jumping on TTC baby no. 2.
I got really obsessive with my first tracking everything, symptom spotting and doing early tests and told myself I would be more chill this time.

But here I am 4 DPO checking my nips to see if they've got any darker 😂

I actually regretted testing so early last time it made the first trimester feel really long so I'm really trying to hold out this time until maybe 2 days before my period but that's feels like so far away.

Baby dust to you all. So nice to have people in the same boat

😂 i was the same!!! However I didn't have any of the usual Pregnancy synptoms at all not until I got my BFP at 12DPO! My nipples didn't get darker until I was in my 2nd trimester, sickness kicked well after 6weeks,
My symptoms were forgetfulness, extreme fatigue, sciatica back pain (7DPO) that's it.

@MrsHousePlant thank you, I think we'll do that. I'm furious I wasted 1 because I didn't read the instructions properly!

I ourchased a whole load of cheapies from ebay came with 40 OPKs and 10 HPT.

I have only tested after CD10 as my cycles generally in yhe longer side and have stopped using the OPKS 3 days after the + mine got from dark to barely there within 24hrs.
Everyone's LH levels will be different so some ladies well have a steady increase and decrease but mine got from pale to intense within 24hrs and then back to pale! So after another 2 days I just stop.

The fertility expert I spoke to said a lot of women will continue to have surges on and off post ovulation int he 2nd half of the cycle that is normal and usually a durge a few days before AF shows up.
I learned that last on CD 26 I got a LH surge that showed up before the control and then 3 days later my period started.

@Blackberry95 Quick question, did you have irregular cycles before starting the pill and did they remain regular once you came off?

Just wanted to hop in her and give my experince once I atopoed the pill NY cycles went right back to being irregular and longer.

I started using the CB tests this month. I went for every other day when flashing then did the night before static (by chance really) and the day after when static. Would have done the first day of static too but honestly didn’t have the energy 😂
You’re supposed to do one per day with FMU until flashing, it does say when it’s flashing you can do it more often but they’re so expensive I didn’t bother.

Thenfertility expert I spoke to said OOKs are used with urine from midday until 4pm some say 9pm os fine to. FMU is for HPT.
The levels of LH surge in the early morning and build to its peak later in the day.
They told me to test the same time daily do I picked 2pm (LO os napping) and stuck to it. I also try to hold my pee for 3/4hrs around this time to.

Riverofhope · 04/09/2023 06:23

I’ve done another test this morning and got a slightly darker line 🙏🏼
I wasn’t going to test as was convinced I was out this month, but I’ve had a lower back ache since DPO6, then yesterday twinges and cramps pretty much the whole day.

MrsHousePlant · 04/09/2023 06:51

@MixedCouple that’s interesting thank you! To be honest it’s easier for me just doing FMU (and I did that originally just following the CB test info). I don’t work in a job that means I can nip off and do a test during the day. It’s also rare that I’ll get a long hold at any other point during the day, I drink loads of water otherwise I get headaches and generally feel crappy!

Skyla01 · 04/09/2023 06:52

@Riverofhope that's really great news! I am the same after testing this morning - line is faint but not a squinter any more so definitely darker than Saturday. I've never done lots of tests like this to look for progression- it's quite stressful, but not sure I can stop now until I get a really strong line. I'm going to try and wait until the end of the week.

etaketak1991 · 04/09/2023 07:08

@Skyla01 and @Riverofhope , massive congratulations to you both! Sounds so positive. Hope those lines keep darkening 🤞

I had a BFN on a clearblue early detection this morning, so I'm 99% sure this isn't the cycle for me. I'll test again if I'm late, but just going to try to put it out of my head for now 🤷 Luckily today's a busy day (I'm a teacher!) so plenty to take my mind off it haha.

muffin1996 · 04/09/2023 07:23

@MixedCouple ohh okay. So I’m guessing if you initially had irregular cycles, it’ll just return once you stop the pill?

secondtimelucky87 · 04/09/2023 07:45

BFN on my easy @ home test this morning at 11dpo. Been nauseous and cramping for 4 days but AF is due within days and I reckon the nausea could be from prenatals. Argh. Not out until AF shows up I guess but not feeling positive. Just need to somehow to find the energy to DTD more often despite having a 2 year old and a full time teaching job - neither of which lead to much energy in the evenings 🤣

Congratulations to the ladies with BFPs! Lovely news and gives us all hope 💗 x

Blackberry95 · 04/09/2023 08:22

Those that have been pregnant before… how does pregnancy cramping compare to PMS/incoming AF cramping for you?
Im 13 DPO and presume on out now because of light cramping and a BFN yesterday 😭 think AF will be here before the days out but have no idea if it would be in any way different if I was pregnant

Fingerscrossed2023 · 04/09/2023 10:10

@Riverofhope and @Skyla01 congrats so much on your positives! What day did you both test? Yay for some positives on this thread!

Riverofhope · 04/09/2023 10:21

@Fingerscrossed2023 Thank you. I have had MCs previously so am cautious, but have been prescribed lots of things to take this time around.
I got a barely their line yesterday DPO10 using the ultra sensitive tests (husband couldn’t see anything) then this morning bit stronger and visible xx

muffin1996 · 04/09/2023 10:48

@Riverofhope Congrats!!1 Hopefully the line darkens in the next few days!

I'm 1 day late for my period but I'm refraining from testing until a few more days have passed. I only have the cheapie sticks for mommed on amazon thatt test 25hcg or above so i dont know how accurate it is. (15dpo)

muffin1996 · 04/09/2023 13:03

Caved in and did a HPT. As expected, it's BFN 😞

Blackberry95 · 04/09/2023 13:31

Me too @muffin1996 hope you are ok x

muffin1996 · 04/09/2023 13:58

@Blackberry95 We're not out till we're out x

Skyla01 · 04/09/2023 14:11

@Fingerscrossed2023 I did my first test on the day AF was due, I'm now three days late and lines still on the faint side. However my luteal phase is on the short side so I would guess I'm only about 15dpo now. And my tests are not very sensitive ones.

Also feeling cautious though due to previous mc.

For those awaiting AF, you're not out until she arrives! I only got a real squinter so you never know.

Blackberry95 · 04/09/2023 14:28

@muffin1996 @Skyla01

yes this is true- sorry I was sounding super negative there, my emotions are on a total wobble today

Skyla01 · 04/09/2023 14:32

@Blackberry95 I know, it's rubbish. This process can be such a rollercoaster. I'm not sure I would recommend early testing, just made me more anxious.

Skyla01 · 04/09/2023 14:34

@Blackberry95 my last pregnancy earlier this year I had cramping for several weeks, quite similar to AF cramps. Although cramps didn't start until about 5/6 weeks along.

Blackberry95 · 04/09/2023 14:35

@Skyla01 yeah I told myself I wouldn’t but I’m just too weak willed to wait. I can’t decide if it’s softening the blow to be gradually let down or just making it worse because you think you are out when you may not be

muffin1996 · 04/09/2023 15:00

@Blackberry95 Also negative but my motto in life sometimes is 'have no expectations and you won't get disappointed'

With TTC I feel like the best thing for me is to assume I'm out and just get on with the next cycle. But you can't help having that tingy little bit of hope lol
