Hi, can I hop on? I am TTC number 2. Been off contraception for almost a year. However took 3months for my cycles to restart and then had a MMC in the spring which took another 3months or thereabouts, so only about five months of active trying. AF due in a few days. Baby dust to everyone!

HashB · 29/08/2023 13:59

This is my second cycle TTC after a MMC in late June. I ovulated on Saturday and now have the dreaded 2 week wait to see if anything stuck.

Having only done this for 5 cycles in total now, I have so much admiration for the women who do this for 1+ 2+ years. It’s not a fun rollercoaster xx

WishingUponARainbow · 29/08/2023 14:15

Hi everyone, hope it's okay to jump on.
Currently TTC our first, this is our 9th cycle. Had a miscarriage in April. Should be ovulating in the next few days.

Personal question incoming - how often does everyone DTD during the fertile window? My boyfriend still doesn't seem to grasp the concept that the more often we have sex the higher chance we have of making a baby!!

HashB · 29/08/2023 14:32

@WishingUponARainbow once a day for 6 days across the ‘fertile window’. By the end I’d really rather just go to sleep 😂

Lorddenning1 · 29/08/2023 14:36

Nobody has answered me yet, but all of you who use ovulation tests, how many days after a positive do you normally ovulate etc, I'm going to be using them next cycle if I'm not successful with this cycle, currently 9DPO.

moosey89 · 29/08/2023 14:45

@Lorddenning1 I use the clearblue ones, and I ovulate usually like 36hrs ish after that. Last time I got pregnant was from just DTD once the day after the static smiley! I now track via Mira which gives me numerical values for my hormone levels and I can see that my true peak LH is the day after I get a peak on opks usually, so I will ovulate like 12hrs after my true peak.

Riverofhope · 29/08/2023 14:46

Hi @Lorddenning1 I was told that ovulation would usually occur within 24 hours of the peak result of the positive. With the clear blue opks they stay solid smiley for 2 days after so to cover that window x

Riverofhope · 29/08/2023 14:48

Hi @WishingUponARainbow looks like we are in the same boat! We’ve tried doing it just on the positive Ov days, then every day and also tried every other day! Nothing worked so far….
A Dr did say to me though think of it like a scatter gun that has to hit a particular spot. The more you do it the more chance you have. I really don’t know! X

muffin1996 · 29/08/2023 15:04

Hi guys,
Thought I'd jump on. This is my very first month of TTC. Currently 10dpo and becuase I'm so impatient I've tested yesterday and today lol which was unsurpisingly a BFN. I'm not pushing my luck for this month so will just wait for AF to arrive this Saturday but if it happens, of course I'll be over the moon lol!!

Think I might buy OPK for this month.

My biggest struggle is the TWW but it helps to know so many people are in the same boat as me.

Quick question: What made you guys decide to try for a baby? Like at what point did you decide you were ready?

Angelselevenx · 29/08/2023 15:09

Can I join please 😊 TTC first. Currently 4 days before expected AF, had this month off tracking so no idea where I am just know that my period normally comes CD31/32 so we will see. Ordered a new BBT thermometer that doesn't have the annoying beep and back on taking b6 to try bring forward O or lengthen my LP which is normally 10 days.

This is cycle 7 for us, cycle 8 when AF arrives (or hopefully doesn't), had a CP on cycle 2 but nothing since 😔 x

@muffin1996 after getting married we decided to have a year of saying 'yes' to doing all the things we wanted to do and using our annual leave for trips and adventures without children and then we would try knowing we had no regrets.

Here we are now after a very fun year seeing what the future holds... I think we will keep up enjoying ourselves and saying yes to doing more until I get pregnant as having read so many stories on here I'm well aware it could take ups some time. How about you?

etaketak1991 · 29/08/2023 16:13

@Angelselevenx Ooh can I ask which.thermometer you've bought? Considering buying a new one if this month is a BFN.

Thats good to hear! I think it's really important to make sure we try and do as much as we can, especially the things that are not really child-friendly before the little ones.

I'm kind of doing the same thing. Yesterday was our one year marriage anniversary and I finally feel ready both mentally and physcially. I used to be the type that can babysit and play with a baby, but as soon as they start crying, I'm looking for the mum lol 😂and I'm not getting any younger, so need to start my dream of a big family asap lol

Grungegoo · 29/08/2023 16:22

Today I’m 5DPO and it´s probably just me obsessing over possible symptoms.
However, today I have been having the strangest “cramps” on the lower right side of my abdomen. Not the deep ones I usually have when I am on my period but strong pangs which come and go. I know it´s a long shot but it´s the first time I have consciously felt this and I wonder of anyone else has has these. Maybe implantation cramps?

Sorry to hear of your previous miscarriage! We actually dont DTD every day during fertile window - it's not good for me and it's not good for husband! We both enjoy spontaneity and a really relaxed approach which is hard when you're trying to maximise your chances within a 5 day period haha! Once a day is probably ideal unless your partner has any known sperm issues. However most sources suggest every other day is almost as good, and that is what we do or sometimes we will just go for the day before and day of ovulation if we happen to time it right!

Lorddenning1 · 29/08/2023 17:09

@moosey89 many thanks for your reply, what is Mira, sorry new to all the ovulation stuff, with my last baby I had fertility treatment and had clomid and the drs monitored ovulation so this is new to me :)

careerchanger123 · 29/08/2023 17:34

@etaketak1991 I use natural cycles and bought their gen 2 thermometer, I had gen 1 that came with the subscription but the beep drove me mad

ReginaPhalange12 · 29/08/2023 19:03

Hi everyone, joining the Sept TTC after AF started this morning, feeling sore & sad today so hoping September will be our month🤞🏽

CathyJ30 · 29/08/2023 19:09

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind me joining this thread? I'm new to mumsnet and also TTC. Starting in September and it will be baby #3. Good luck ladies 🤞

moosey89 · 29/08/2023 19:18

@Lorddenning1 don't be sorry! I've become a bit of a know-it-all haha 7 years ago was when I first started ttc with my ex, so it's been a long road so far!

Mira is basically a fertility analyser that's a step more detailed than opks. You track different hormones (oestrogen, LH, progesterone, FSH) and it plots the values on a graph so you can see the rise and fall throughout the month. I love stats and data so have found it fascinating!

Happy anniversary to you! I know just what you mean, it has taken us until now to feel that this is definitely the right time. We’ve loved playing with nieces then handing them back until now 😂

Fingers crossed for us!

Confusedddddddd · 29/08/2023 20:27

Please can I join? I'm CD1, second cycle TTC after an ectopic in June-July (we weren't trying before). This will be our second child.

Lushfanatic123 · 29/08/2023 20:50

Hi all

I've moved over from August chat.
AF came today so hopefully I'll have more luck in my next cycle.

Ttc baby number 2, this will be my second month.

muffin1996 · 29/08/2023 20:58

@MrsHousePlant thank you! Xx

We’ve got this! 💪🏼

Twinkles18 · 29/08/2023 21:15

@secondtimelucky87 i recommend it..much easier than OPKs as you use FMU and it does all the thinking for you lol. It is a bit pricey but was recommended it by my friend when I was ttc with my daughter..my friend got her BFP after 3 cycles with it and I got my BFP after just 1 cycle using it so iv been very happy with it! Def worth having a think about it if you’re trying for a while! ❤️
