Hello, just wanted to start a thread to see if anyone else was in the same position as us or had some success stories of ttc after 12+cycles! We’ve been trying to conceive our first for 14 cycles (AF arrived today!!) and I’m starting to loose hope! We’ve had some tests done both privately and on the NHS and so far everything looks good. We’ve got a referral to the fertility clinic but that’s not until November and I’m not really sure what to expect when we go.

Hope you guys can join me on this crazy ttc journey! X

Hi there! It sucks doesn't it! We had an appointment with the doctor recently and will begin medicated IUI next cycle (presuming of course it doesn't happen this month 😅). I'm not really sure what to expect, but she said I will have to give myself injections from about cycle day 3-5 until ovulation, then they do the IUI part, then progesterone after.

I'm currently on CD 5 of this month, so I still have my fingers crossed again for this month. Got a new lube so who knows maybe that will make the difference 😂 (conceive plus, been using preseed for the last half year or so and it's made no difference).

Whereabouts in your cycle are you at the mo? X

Hi lovely,

It took my husband and I 3 years. We never went down the investigations route but were already into our 30s and 40s respectively.

Truthfully, for us I think stress was the major barrier. It meant we probably weren't trying enough and were both just so consumed by work etc.

Then the pandemic happened. Suddenly we were both WFH, not really allowed to go out much, had more time together and were more relaxed (no commutes etc). I remember one day literally saying to myself: this is the month it's going to happen. And it did. We DTD 4 days in a row leading up to expected ovulation and now I have a beautiful 2.5 year old I'm so grateful for every single day.

I don't know if any of this is helpful and I hope you get your BFP much sooner than I did. Just wanted to give you some hope. Definitely worth considering whether stress is a factor and if it is, whether there's anything you can do. Can you get away for a few days for example around your fertile time?

Wishing you lots of luck and baby dust! X

Goldendoodlelover · 19/10/2023 13:18

Hi @Seasidegirll , have you had any luck or updates? I’m in a similar position - been ttc baby number 1 for 11 months now, all bloods and baseline scans have come back normal, am pretty sure I’m ovulating and DTD at the right time, so at a bit of a loss! Doctor has said just to keep trying :/

Seasidegirll · 30/10/2023 10:21

Hi @Goldendoodlelover sorry to hear that you’re in a similar position, it’s absolutely crap isn’t it 😞 no luck unfortunately, we amazingly had our first BFP a few cycles ago but that unfortunately ended up being a chemical pregnancy. My period is due tomorrow, I’ve been testing negative for the last few days so this cycle is looking like it’s going to be another negative one! We have our first appointment with the fertility clinic on the nhs next week, I can keep you updated with how that goes if you like? X

@mushroomushroom hey! So sorry that I never replied, how are you getting on? I hope all is well! X

Have you read It Starts With The Egg? My and a friend both had success by following the evidence presented in that book.

emmatcc1 · 30/10/2023 11:11

I’m on cycle 16 of trying and 9dpo today pretty sure it’s gonna be another negative.

Seasidegirll · 30/10/2023 12:22

@PurpleOrchid42 no I haven’t actually! It’s been on my list so I might go ahead and order it. I take Ovum supplements and as far as I’m aware, it includes most/a lot of vitamins that are recommended in the book.

@emmatcc1 So sorry that you’re in a similar position 😞 have you had any tests done yet?

For me and my friend, the biggest thing seems to have been ubiquinol. We were both taking the other things until then.

Goldendoodlelover · 30/10/2023 19:56

Hi @Seasidegirll - really sorry to hear about your chemical pregnancy, that must have been hard after waiting for so long. Exciting that you have your first fertility appointment though, I hope it goes well 🤞 I’ve decided to try and have a month ‘off’ so no BBT testing, no OPKs, and give myself as much of a psychological break as I can but I’m only CD7 and it’s really, really hard to not obsess or think about it! Will then hopefully book an appointment for a HSG/Hycosy as I haven’t had one yet and I’ve heard they can give you a bit of a fertility ‘boost’ as they can unclog things so we shall see! Have you had one of those? Xx

riverlodge90 · 01/11/2023 15:34

@Goldendoodlelover

hi sorry for jumping in, but would you be booking the HSG through the NHS or privately? I've tried to look online but seems mixed as to what's available.

Goldendoodlelover · 01/11/2023 15:48

Hi @riverlodge90 I’d be looking to book the HSG privately I think - unfortunately the waiting lists in my area are insane and because I had the other tests (eg bloods and ultrasounds) privately (because I did not want to wait for the 12 month mark) I might have to have those done again first which would slow things down further. It is all v expensive though…

Flowers07 · 12/12/2023 14:50

Hi I know this thread is a few months old however wanted to see if you had any success and also how your app went at the fertility Clinic? I am cycle 11 or 12 and no luck yet just tested at 12dpo and negative so think I’m out this month!! Had my bloods done last week and partner got sperm sample soon was told by gp If I don’t hear anything from fertility clinic by Jan to contact them!! X

riverlodge90 · 13/12/2023 11:19

@Flowers07 I am still trying.
Getting sperm test in the new year and my partner is now taking men's fertility supplements although he jokes they have given him bigger knob haha we shall see hopefully get a BFP on NYD when I can test.

Anyone else on the thread have any news or updates?

Goldendoodlelover · 13/12/2023 12:07

Hi all - unfortunately no real news or updates yet. Had a Hycosy last week (tubes were all clear, which was a relief) and I’m now 6 or 7dpo and in the dreaded TWW. Really hoping I can be one of those Hycosy success stories but trying not to get my hopes up as I have also heard that the dye they use can affect implantation. DH is also getting a sperm dna fragmentation test next week as I want to rule out everything before having conversations around IUI or IVF…

Flowers07 · 13/12/2023 21:45

Good luck hun fingers crossed!!! Praying myself for better news next month. Keep us updated

Bex4567 · 30/12/2023 07:59

Any updates ladies

emmatcc1 · 30/12/2023 09:32

@Bex4567 I got pregnant this month.

Goldendoodlelover · 30/12/2023 11:51

@emmatcc1 congratulations! Did you do anything differently to get your bfp?

AF came for me about 10 days ago so now onto cycle 13. Still hoping I can be a Hycosy success story, but have decided if it doesn’t work in January then I will try 2.5mg of Letrozole. Doctor was quite on the fence about giving it to me as all signs show I am already ovulating, but I am willing to try anything at this stage!

emmatcc1 · 30/12/2023 12:35

@Goldendoodlelover It took us 17 cycles and I had no hope for this month as we were sick with covid during ovulation and it was a pretty stressful week as well.

Kate3150 · 30/12/2023 17:45

@emmatcc1 massive congratulations to you 🩶

riverlodge90 · 30/12/2023 21:52
