I am feeling positive this cycle, hope we get our good news soon.

We are working from home today, so dtd this afternoon, this night, tomorrow evening and maybe for a good measure Sunday morning 😂 I am a planner, so it helps me to know what's happening in case someone is wondering I've gone mad.

@BlossomTree123 this morning I got a line same as control, so I would count that as peak this morning. My most fertile times are (according to the instructions) today and tomorrow. But I'll also opk few more times today and tomorrow just to make sure.

I'm doing 2 different opks and temping, so I've officially crossed the line of obsession 😂 I'm now going to watch out for temp increase 🧐

Good luck @HelloMoon87 !

Which opk strips do you use? I'd like to move to cheap strips as the clear blue ones are 🤑🤑🤑 and seem wasteful, but I'm a bit unsure how easy the strips are to interpret. Do the instructions make it easy enough to work out, in your experience?

Silverseas1 · 28/07/2023 12:18

My friend drove herself nuts with tests, calculations and dtd at certain times only. She admitted all she could think about during dtd was will it be this time and usually it wasn't. I suggested trying throwing caution to the wind, doing what 'comes' (important what ever way) naturally and relaxing about it all. She was pregnant within 10 weeks and now has a beautiful baby boy. Obviously depending on circumstances it wouldn't work for everyone. This was her first time ttc and she'd being relying on ovulation tests for 2 years.

HelloMoon87 · 28/07/2023 12:22

Dtd is all planned on our side unfortunately. We have a 2 year old and full time jobs 5 days a week and no family around, so unless we plan it, other things take priority. I did pregnant first time after throwing the wind to caution, so if I don't get pregnant until September, I definitely want to chill for a bit.

Hmm anyone know about if smear tests affect anything during ovulation? I’m due to ov within the next day or 2. Just had my first smear done as I’m 25 in a couple of weeks and I did bleed quite a bit… she asked when my period is due and I told her that it’s not for a couple of weeks as I am actually in my ovulation window now… has anyone had anything similar before ?😅

HelloMoon87 · 28/07/2023 12:23

@Doodlestar I got the cheapies easyhome from Amazon. It is my second time using clearblue, they have matched very well, so I don't think it is necessary to buy expensive ones 🤞

Well that went up quickly.

Totally understandable although personally speaking my pregnancies happened when I actually felt like dtd rather than planning it. My thoughts on this at the time were it was my body telling me its time ie the more I actually felt like it without other things on my mind the higher my chances were of it happening🤔
Anyway, I shouldn't really be on this thread just felt like sharing my experience 😊👍

HelloMoon87 · 28/07/2023 12:38

@missmae I'd be really surprised if it did affect TTC. I was due smear test when I was pregnant and advised not to do it, I did it 12 weeks after baby was born. But not while TTC.

missmae · 28/07/2023 12:43

@HelloMoon87 oh wow that did go up quick, definitely a peak!
And yeah I was thinking surely it wouldn’t affect it as it’s the cervix and nothing else… just concerned about the bleeding as there was quite a lot…Hoping it stops and doesn’t get in the way of the lil swimmers 😟lol !

I completely understand. My first pregnancy happened very casually after TTC for one year, and when I least expected it.
But I'm romanticising the idea of having April baby 😂 it's so hard to not get obsessed... When do you draw the line? Because after finding out pregnancy, there is a lot of other stuff to worry about. Definitely agree being chilled is the goal

I also bled quite a bit with my first smear. Yeah I think they will be able to get where they need to! 💚🤞
When do you get the results back?

OP posts:
missmae · 28/07/2023 12:55

@HelloMoon87 ah did you! Yes fingers crossed they do as I noticed I actually have ewcm this cycle where as last cycle I didn’t notice any… but I can this time so I was feeling hopeful… I hope I haven’t just ruined the chances lol!😭in 3 weeks!

HelloMoon87 · 28/07/2023 12:57

@missmae what will be will be, I'm sure it won't be affected by smear. And it will be out of the way if you're pregnant, you don't have to worry about it for a while x

OP posts:
missmae · 28/07/2023 13:01

@HelloMoon87 that is true! I will stay relaxed! And yes exactly I’ve been wanting to have it done so at least it is out of the way now! X

missmae · 28/07/2023 14:20

@HelloMoon87 you inspired me to test again with my opk, I have also just got my peak! Crazy how fast it can change within a few hours! Cd14 today!

longingtobe23 · 28/07/2023 15:16

@HelloMoon87 mine also just shot up! After I said my peak is typically evening 🤣🤭
But down to business now, I am thrilled it’s happened as it has - because I’m away Saturday night and Sunday morning ✨ the stars aligned!

I can’t believe it I’ve been TTC the longest in this thread and I never get a peak on Cycle day 14!

@longingtobe23 glad youre home to do the baby dance!

Fingers crossed for you and @missmae and @HelloMoon87

SnookyPook · 28/07/2023 15:21

Congrats on the peaks ladies! Got mine a couple of days ago so we're all similar stages for the tww! Good luck and baby dust to us all!!

Can't remember who was asking but I just always use the cheapy OneStep opk strips from Amazon and they've always been fine for me. Plus recently have used them with the Premom app to determine the peaks more clearly and all seems to work well. I've never used ClearBlue so can't say how superior they are but am happy with the cheap ones 👍🏻

HelloMoon87 · 28/07/2023 15:27

@missmae lol I was going to suggest doing opk after I got my peak but I don't want to be an enabler to my madness 😂

@longingtobe23 I've not had a peak on CD 13 since I started TTC, it's unusual. Usually my peak is CD 15/16, so quite early. And it's also good timing for us!

Good luck to everyone!

So update ,, had some pink cm today which maybe the start of af tho confused as my last peak on ovulation tests were 7days ago with ewcm etc so I kind of thought I would expect af 10-14 days after if this was in fact my ovulation…. More watching and waiting ! 🙈😞

GinAndBearIt90 · 28/07/2023 19:20

@Tes004 could be implantation?

I'm now 7DPO and still on holiday so the first week has flown by. Clearly need to book another holiday for next cycle to distract me when we are properly trying 😂😂 no symptoms or anything to report. First pregnancy I had zero symptoms until 6 weeks when they all hit at once. Second pregnancy I had some distinctive bloating/uneasy tummy feelings in the days running up to AF that I recognised immediately so I knew I was pregnant before testing! Then the bad nausea hit a bit earlier at around 5ish weeks! 🤢

missmae · 28/07/2023 19:30

@HelloMoon87 im convinced I’ve messed it up this cycle, I’m bleeding very heavy almost like a period. Tried to dtd and it was a mess and very painful 😰 might be out this month already by the looks of it!

HelloMoon87 · 28/07/2023 19:50

@missmae oh no. I'm just reading that it's better to not have sex within 24 hours. I'm guessing that it to avoid inflaming it? Don't feel the pressure, it was good to get the smear done and there is always the next cycle. I would just wait until you're fully recovered, and do it next cycle. Sorry to hear it's been painful, it really shouldn't be 😢

OP posts:
HelloMoon87 · 28/07/2023 19:51

Also sperm stays for up to 5 days, so since you dtd yesterday it is still very much possible you get pregnant. Just let it be and I hope the bleeding and pain stop soon
