First tww after loss

SnookyPook · 31/05/2023 15:15

Hi All,

I sadly had a MMC mid-April (had a scan for some spotting at 11+4 as my 12 wk scan wasn't due until almost 14wks... and unfortunately baby had stopped developing at 7+5)... am now back hoping to conceive my rainbow baby. Currently 1dpo so right at the beginning of the tww.

Wondered if anyone else is in a similar position and would fancy whiling away some time together?!

Mixed feelings... Obviously longing for another BFP but also slightly scared of getting one and knowing there will be weeks of anxiety ahead. Also trying to not overthink where I'd have been up to with my lost pregnancy if it was still going... So many mixed feelings!

So sorry to hear of your mmc. I had one in January and totally understand the mixed feelings. It's so hard not to think where you'd be up to and to try and stay positive. I'm terrified of what may happen next time so each AF has brought disappointment but also a touch of relief at delaying the anxiety.

It may take a while for your hormones to settle properly. We've had 3 attempts since Jan (currently in our TWW) but this last period was the first one feeling normal with my usual cramping and PMT. Up until then I didn't have those at all which is unusual for me so don't think they'd settled properly.

SnookyPook · 31/05/2023 19:03

@RoseH36 thanks and sorry for your loss too. I completely get what you said about AF... Almost like there's a bit of relief you don't have to deal with the worry yet!

Yeah I'm curious how my cycles will be. I got my peak a couple of days earlier than I usually would but apart from that things have seemed fairly similar. However I gave heard of people having one or two 'normal' cycles and then things going a bit crazy for a while so who knows! Best of luck to you! 🌈🤞🏻

Hi @SnookyPook I’m on some other threads with you. Also in my TWW, although have a short cycle so AF will be due next Friday. We haven’t tried properly this month but didn’t prevent so will see what happens. Just wanted to ease back in after having my first period since miscarriage. And as you both said above, I’m not sure if my cycles will be all over the place for a bit!

RoseH36 · 02/06/2023 08:16

@SnookyPook I hadn't even clocked it was you, I'd chatted to you in the 35+ thread recently. Hopefully your cycle has gotten back to normal for you and you get your rainbow baby soon. 🌈

@J2023xx think you're AF is due similar time to mine. I caved in and ended up working it out, but it depends on my cycle length. Up until this last one they were 28 days, which would be next Friday, but this one was 25 days which would be Tuesday. So sometime next week.

SnookyPook · 02/06/2023 08:58

@J2023xx @RoseH36 ah yes, hello from the other threads! Ah not long for you both to wait until AF then... You never know! Quite a while still for me to wait. But I think @J2023xx I'm a bit like you, was mostly curious to see howy body regulates/gets back into rhythm after the loss. So if it happens this month, great, but if not, I'll just be happy to see AF at the expected time etc!

OP posts:
J2023xx · 05/06/2023 14:16

@SnookyPook @RoseH36 how are you both?

I’m 6 DPO… in my first pregnancy I got a BFP at 10DPO after neg tests before but the last pregnancy it was 8 DPO I got my BFP. We are going to Greece tomorrow evening so I’m just wanting to know whether I can drink on holiday or not 😂 but I know I won’t know for sure until Wednesday-Friday!

Hankthehonk · 05/06/2023 14:34

Hey @SnookyPook can I join? Technically I'm in my second tww after loss but close enough right.
As you might have seen in my posts in other threads, I had a pretty normal first cycle after the loss - no luck with ttc obviously, I went doo-lally with testing in the tww. I hope you can be more sane than me!
The month of May was all over the place and really confusing - LH and BBT going nuts, 10 days of light spotting, mood swings, I had no idea what was going on. Might have been stress related due to a big work trip and events I was running.
Suddenly in the last few days I had clear ovulation symptoms and caught an LH peak. I will wait for 3 days of BBT rise so I know for sure I've ovulated, but if I have I'm 1dpo today.
I'm a bit exhausted with all the tracking and confusion, but I'll be so chuffed and relieved if I have ovulated after all. It was CD39 if I did.

SnookyPook · 05/06/2023 14:56

@J2023xx hey! I'm also 6dpo! Desperately trying to not symptom spot but already on hyper alert... I've decided though that I'm not going to test until AF is about a week late (well I'm saying that now...) Definitely not until due at least which I've always managed in the past. I just don't want to get sucked into anxiety etc too soon if I'm lucky enough to get a BFP... We'll see!

@Hankthehonk - you are most welcome! In fact I was thinking about you earlier and almost PMd as you'd gone a little quiet on a couple of the other threads. Sorry to hear you had a bit of a rough few weeks but fingers crossed it sounds like things are getting back on track now. If so, you're not too far behind the rest of us! X

OP posts:
Hankthehonk · 05/06/2023 15:02

@SnookyPook Oh thanks, that's so thoughtful of you.
We were on holiday so I wasn't online very much, which is a nice reason I went quiet! On the more negative side, I'd also just become totally scunnered (as we say in Scotland...fed up but more forceful than that😂) with not knowing what was going on in my body. The whole business of TTC felt impossible if my cycles weren't going to be regular anymore and I didn't really want to be on here. Ovulation symptoms came out of the blue in the last few days and I feel like I'm back in the game, hopefully anyway.
It feels like since the loss, everything is so up and down, and I have quite extreme emotional reactions. Now that I've ovulated it doesn't seem like such a big deal that I had 3 weeks of not knowing what was happening with my cycle. But it was devastating when I was in it. I was even starting to think that I just can't do this whole thing and maybe we can just be happy with one child after all.

RoseH36 · 05/06/2023 17:45

@J2023xx have a fab holiday, will be so hard for you to resist testing. Its hard not drinking though isn't it? I went to a party over the weekend with our neighbours. Thankfully no one asked why I wasn't drinking but I was expecting them too all evening. I'm not the biggest drinker anyway so maybe they thought nothing of it.

My aim is to get to Thursday before testing. AF is due anytime from tomorrow - Friday. So far no signs of it arriving for tomorrow but with the first 2 periods following my mmc I had no pmt, spotting or cramps before it arrived so I know I could be having another month like that, even though last months had all those.

@SnookyPook good luck in your quest not to test too, so hard!!

@Hankthehonk fingers crossed you have ovulated.

Hankthehonk · 05/06/2023 18:11

@RoseH36 @SnookyPook I'm very impressed by your willpower with testing! I am hoping to hold out to 10dpo and that would be good for me 😬 I got bfp at 9dpo in the past so it feels impossible for me to wait for AF.
Tracking BBT helps as well though because if it drops I'll know I'm most likely out without waiting so long or going through testing hell.

J2023xx · 05/06/2023 18:25

I second @Hankthehonk and am very impressed with the resistance of testing @SnookyPook @RoseH36 I’ll definitely be taking tests away with me 😂

RoseH36 · 05/06/2023 18:28

@Hankthehonk it's SO hard! I told DH to tell me off as I was so tempted to test on Saturday and he talked me out of it. Got a positive quite early with my first but then the second time (when I had my mmc) it was negative first and then positive a couple of days later so determined to try and wait.

I have no idea on BBT at all, does that keep you at a higher temp if you're pregnant then?

Hankthehonk · 05/06/2023 18:37

@RoseH36 Yes if BBT stays up in luteal phase you might be pregnant (obviously it's no guarantee) but if it drops then very likely you're not and AF is coming!

RoseH36 · 05/06/2023 18:51

@Hankthehonk thank you, thats interesting to know. If I'm not pregnant this time round I'll look into that some more 🙂

DmcinT · 07/06/2023 18:14

@SnookyPook can I also join (on a few other threads with u also) I’d MMC start of April, was all over the place for a few weeks, testing for everything but nothing following a pattern until May 29/30th when I deff got my peak and 🤞🏽Ovulated 🎉 in the TWW now about 8 dpo.

How is everyone finding the TWW? I notice tiredness over the last 2/3 days has been off the charts, I’m napping at all times in the day(very strange for me) but god knows it could be the heat, progesterone related to af 🤷🏼‍♀️ too hard to know. I deff noticed an urgency to pee around this stage with my last preg but I don’t have it this time.

SnookyPook · 07/06/2023 19:00

@DmcinT of course! Welcome! And as noted on the other thread, same dpo! In proper high alert territory now..! So I've been quite gassy and my boobs have been a bit tender which have both been signs for me previously. However last time I had a day of cramping at 8dpo which I'm sure was implantation (though didn't with my successful pregnancy) and I've also had creamy CM in the tww with my previous pregnancies and not noticed that thus far... So... Haha. Who the hell knows basically. And they say every pregnancy is different anyway don't they 🤷🏼‍♀️

Have already had the slightly concerned "don't be too gutted if it hasn't happened this time" from DH... Think he's a bit worried about me...

I'm trying to see the positives regardless.. if AF arrives then I've tracked a full cycle and been able to identify ovulation etc so everything seems to be working properly again...

Don't know if any of you saw in the 35+ thread but I got a BFP today. Didn't wait until tomorrow, thought I'd done well to get to today before testing. Lots of tears this morning from fear rather than happiness. Just need to try and remain positive somehow.

Keeping everything crossed for you all that we will be on this journey together.

SnookyPook · 07/06/2023 20:37

@RoseH36 ah amazing!! No I hadn't seen! Oh goodness I can imagine the nerves etc but hopefully excitement and happiness too! Everything crossed that this is a healthy and sticky 🌈 baby! What dpo are you? Congratulations!! 🥰 Xx

@RoseH36 after your comment I realised I hadn't had any alerts for the 35+ group in ages and just checked and the group I was on just stopped at p.40 so I guess it was full..? Is there a link to a new group that I've missed? I was on the Part 2 one! Thanks!

OP posts:
RoseH36 · 07/06/2023 21:33

@SnookyPook thank you. I'm around 13dpo. Really hope this one is staying put.

I did think I hadn't seen you in there, yes there's a part 3. No idea if you can link threads or not on here.

Hankthehonk · 07/06/2023 23:11

@RoseH36 Wow congratulations!! That's amazing news. Can you share your bfp pic? What's your estimated due date?

@SnookyPook I think it's only natural to be a bit obsessive and overly hopeful trying after loss. We can tell our brains to be rationale but if you're anything like me, emotions are running wild. You're almost at testing time! I can't remember whether you track bbt as well? If you do, has it stayed up?

I'm only 3dpo but I've got creamy CM which is a good sign I think? Certainly not the norm for me in luteal phase. I've ordered Proov pdg tests and will be taking them from 7dpo to check whether I've ovulated and get a sense of my progesterone levels. Because I suspect they're low. But Proov is expensive definitely can't afford it every month!

SnookyPook · 07/06/2023 23:40

@RoseH36 I've found it, thank you!

@Hankthehonk glad you understand the madness 😆 No I don't track bbt. Previously been lucky to fall on cycles 4 & 3 of trying so never quite got worried enough to get into all that. It does sound interesting though!

Creamy CM has been a good sign for me twice and is the reason I'm keeping my expectations low this time aside from other possible signs as not really had it. Fingers crossed for you!
