Have I ovulated?

Hi - I hope someone can help! I got a positive OPK CD35 and this lasted for 3 days (see images below) and not sure if I've ovulated or not.

My cycles are irregular and this is my first time tracking BBT. Looking at the graphs do you think I've ovulated? I'm so lost with it all and just looking for reassurance!

Hey, I would say your strips look very convincing of ovulation but you need to keep testing bbt to see if it rises over the next few days.
You can only really confirm ovulation with temps if consistently raised for 3 or more days after suspected ov. It does look like it's probably starting to increase today but you just need a few more days to be sure 🙂

ABLOSSOM · 23/05/2023 10:56

@dabs9 thank you for getting back to me! Should BBT rise higher than usual? I feel like my temp has been all over the place so starting to think the worst! Especially with me having longer cycles.

Will keep testing and hopefully see an increase!

@ABLOSSOM post ovulation temps are higher than pre ovulation.

dabs9 · 23/05/2023 11:05

@ABLOSSOM yes, after ovulation temp is higher than before ov. And should stay higher until just before your period/ period starts.

Hopefully I can reassure you that I also have long and irregular cycles and have successfully ovulated as late as day 54! 😂 (confirmed with bbt and blood test) so it's definitely possible and hopefully you'll see your temp going up now. X

Lalalucy123 · 23/05/2023 15:33

@ABLOSSOM are your cycles usually this long? Have you been diagnosed with PCOS? I know from personal experience the difficulty of trying to conceive with irregular cycles. Your best bet is to try regulate your cycle so your at least getting your chance every month.

ABLOSSOM · 23/05/2023 16:00

@dabs9 thank you for that reassurance - I will keep you updated. I am praying it will increase but not feeling hopeful.

@Lalalucy123 they have been so irregular since coming off my contraception last august (ranging 45 - 96 day cycles). I have been taking conceive plus vitamins and had 2 acupuncture sessions to try and help regulate. I had bloods and an internal scan and been told it's unlikely I have PCOS. But as it's been nearly a year I am really concerned something is wrong. I feel like I am doing all the right things and something just isn't working ☹️

This is the first month of BBT tracking and I feel this is making me feel worse. From examples I've been my temp should be higher during that ovulation stage.... I'm an overthinker if you haven't gathered!

@ABLOSSOM That is really frustrating. I’ve heard of a lot of people having these kinds of issues after coming off hormonal birth control. For me a mixture of daily Myo-inositol and a low GI diet regulated my cycles however I have been diagnosed with PCOS. Have you asked your GP about ovulation induction using Letrozole or Clomid? It’s a good option for people who aren’t ovulating regularly due to hormonal issues.

ABLOSSOM · 23/05/2023 17:42

@Lalalucy123 someone has mentioned a low GI diet to me before and when I briefly looked it's pretty much my diet now - but I need to look more into it so thank you. I've never heard of myo-intositol is this a supplement?

My GP has advised I go for some more bloods and tests so going to go next week has hopefully find out some more information. I was kind of hoping this month would be the month with me having acupuncture, a better diet and vitamins etc but I guess we'll find out!

OP posts:
dabs9 · 23/05/2023 19:03

@ABLOSSOM is one of the blood tests you're having to check progesterone levels? If having bloods taken next week it would be good for you to have progesterone at what you think is 7dpo as that could confirm you have ovulated.

Lalalucy123 · 23/05/2023 19:06

@ABLOSSOM It took about 5 months before I saw any differences with the diet. Not sure how long you’ve been at it but stick with it if it’s relatively new. It can’t hurt!

Myo-inositol is a supplement that improves your insulin sensitivity, which is an issue a lot of people with PCOS have that stops them ovulating.

Hopefully the blood tests will help you get to the root of your problem. Your LH surge looks really good so hopefully your bbt will stay up to confirm ovulation this month.

Borkled · 23/05/2023 20:03

If your temp’s up tomorrow then I reckon you ovulated on CD37. The weird thing about BBT charts is that you’ll be stressing about not ovulating, then 12 hours later you’re suddenly 3DPO.

ABLOSSOM · 23/05/2023 20:23

@dabs9 to be honest, they didn't say they just told me to get a bloods form from the doctors - so I will request this!

@Lalalucy123 thank you for your help! I'm going to keep at it, just sending myself crazy right now.

@Borkled thank you, it's so new to me and so confusing! Then I look at examples and you can so clearly see the increase so I'm just convincing myself it isn't happening. I'm so hoping tomorrow it rises!

OP posts:
ABLOSSOM · 24/05/2023 07:21

@Borkled @dabs9 @Lalalucy123 here is my chart this morning. It has risen but not by much. My pre ovulation temp ranged from 36.0-36.44 and my temps after ovulation (peak OPK) are 36.07, 36.24, 36.17, 36.41 and today 36.54 so I am not sure if you can count that as a "rise" although the graph looks like so. What do you all think? Am I overthinking? 🙈

dabs9 · 24/05/2023 08:01

@ABLOSSOM that looks like a good enough rise to me 😊 I think you probably ovulated CD37. After your temp tomorrow morning, if it rises again your premom app will identify a cover line and confirm a definite basal shift post ov. Sometimes my temp just gradually increases the first few dpo and then does it's bigger jump after a few days.

ABLOSSOM · 24/05/2023 15:57

@dabs9 great thank you! I can already feel I'm going to be obsessed with my BBT temps! 🤣

Really annoyed we didn't DTD after CD35 as thought I had covered ovulation but oh well I guess time will tell.

Thank you so much for the support and kind words of reassurance. Nice to know I'm not crazy.

How was your temp this morning @ABLOSSOM ? 🤞

ABLOSSOM · 25/05/2023 13:13

@dabs9 36.68 so definitely a rise! Hopefully this is the month, but trying not to symptom spot etc. Do you think I ovulated CD37?

How are you?

emmatcc1 · 25/05/2023 13:15

@ABLOSSOM I would say ovulation was on day37

dabs9 · 25/05/2023 13:20

Yes I agree with Emma, I think ov on CD37! 🎉
And your app has identified the shift in temp too which is great!

I'm ok thank, think I'm headed towards my peak in the next day or 2 so I'm happy about that 😊

Lalalucy123 · 25/05/2023 13:44

@ABLOSSOM your chart looks great!

Time for the 2WW! I’ve started keeping a detailed log of my symptoms so I can keep myself in check with the symptom spotting and remind myself if I’ve felt that symptom before in an unsuccessful cycle 😂

I’m only CD3 so still a long way for me to go this cycle!

ABLOSSOM · 25/05/2023 14:30

@emmatcc1 @dabs9 thank you! I DTD for 2 days after my positive OPK but nothing CD36 and 37 so hope I'm still in for a chance! I know they say it only takes 1 but I wonder if I missed my slot 😫

Sounds great @dabs9 you'll have to keep us updated! Fingers crossed for us all 🩷

@Lalalucy123 thank you! It's making me feel less worried now as at least I know I'm getting that increase 🙈 good idea logging your symptoms I'm going to start that as I'm already sending myself mad over any little thing and it's only 2/3 DPO 🤣 fingers crossed this cycle for you and keep us updated! I hate these long irregular cycles!

ABLOSSOM · 27/05/2023 08:28

@dabs9 @emmatcc1 @Lalalucy123 hope you are all doing ok!

Do you think this dip means I'm out? ☹️ my luteal phase is usually 14 days but I'm sure it's supposed to keep rising. What do you think?

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 27/05/2023 08:36

Are you doing your temps at the same time each day before you do anything else? You need to try and do them all at the same time of day for an accurate picture.

Not sure what app you use but on fertility friend open circles mean the temp might not be accurate. Not sure if they all work a similar way

ABLOSSOM · 27/05/2023 08:38

@Justhereforthechristmasthreads yes they're all usually done within the same 45 minutes. I'm hoping it may just be inaccurate and it will rise again tomorrow.

dabs9 · 27/05/2023 08:38

Morning @ABLOSSOM I'm good thanks think I'm 1dpo today but haven't done toooo much opk testing so not 100% sure.

It's really common to get a dip around this sort of time for a lot of people, I've had it quite a few months and then the next day it's gone back up. Something to do with a second estrogen surge I think 🤔 (I might be wrong, but hormone related anyway).
But for some people it can indicate implantation 🤞 definitely doesn't mean you're out. Xx
