👋
I'm just trying to get an idea and a bit of hope in TTC over 40, and for me...mid 40's!
I'm 44 and will soon be 45 🙃
TTC number 2.
Have been trying for over a year.
IVF not an option.
Delayed our TTC number 2 because of Covid.
Anyone in the same boat?

Hi all, I hope you don’t mind me hoping on this thread, I am 41 and have been trying to conceive my third (conceived the other two children no issues) this time since trying I have had 6 miscarriages and 1 mmc at 10weeks. I have had all tests done and all fine. I take vitamins, tried acupuncture. My periods are on time and I take opk’s every month. Can I ask what vitamins does everyone take?

I’m on
Proceive and the omega 3 also.

I had my first two children at 23 and 26 but trying again suffered mc at 7 weeks but baby stopped growing 5+5. Hoping within the next week to get a BFP

Isitthathardtobekind · 18/02/2024 22:42

@Lin380 thanks for the positivity! I have 2 children who are now 11 and 12 so another reason I would like to soon if it will ever happen again.

Sorry to hear this.

I started Proceive Max last month - it was on offer at Boots so thought I’d give it a try- not sure I will continue at full price though. I had been having shorter cycles for the last 6 months and also lots of breast pain from around day 12/13. The last one was the shortest. I took Proceive and suddenly it jumped back up to 30 days and only slight pain which is much more what I was used to for the last few years. I assume that the vitamins may have had something to do with it. I thought I may have actually been pregnant this time but then AF came.

Rosyposy26 · 22/02/2024 10:08

Did a test this morning a faint positive line. 9dpo Will retest at the weekend. Currently feel nauseous and have very sore nipples. Hoping this one sticks

theleavesfall24 · 23/02/2024 06:05

@Rosyposy26 let us know how you go...that sounds positive to me.

I'm out out again this month....slightly heavier AF and was 2 days late so I'm hoping it's not the road to menopause just yet 😩
But I'm 45 now.
Anyone with anymore 45+ positive TTC stories 😊

Hi everyone, I turned 41 this month and am ttc no. 2. DD is 19 months.

We've been trying since last July and so far, we've had one miscarriage (anembryonic), that took a few months to resolve, so I guess it's not been that many cycles yet. The big difference I've noticed is that last time I found it easy to catch - I conceived on 4 out of 5 consecutive cycles and had three losses before DD. The only cycle I didn't conceive was due to a burst ovarian cyst. It was a hellish year, but I could be almost guaranteed of a bfp. This time, nothing (apart from the blighted ovum).

I'm sure my egg quality is terrible, and now I'm also thinking my reserve is probably super low. AF due tomorrow, and BFN today. Pretty disheartened atm.

I did a test yesterday and was BFN so maybe a evap line. Still have sore breast and feel nauseous but working out dates I’m only 11DPO so don’t want to test again yet.

SwordToFlamethrower · 25/02/2024 11:15

In my 40s i had 6 rounds of IVF to get a baby and then, 2 miscarriages in a row 3 and 4 months post partum cycles.

We had 1 natural pregnancy in 2016 that ended in miscarriage at 5 weeks when we were avoiding sex during ovulation. 6 years of actively trying and not a single BFP!

I'm almost 47, so it's not surprising the pregnancies didn't stick, but 2 in a row?! We haven't been using contraception and thought that sex could just be for fun now.

It's been a devastating loss.

SwordToFlamethrower · 25/02/2024 12:35

Male fertility can and does change with age and diet so always have a sperm analysis done as a first port of call.

It's wrong and medical sexism to say men don't develop fertility issues.

Hey unfortunately every test I’ve done since then has been a BFN today I started spotting so think AF is about to arrive. Massive headache and feel nauseous part of me is hoping it’s implantation but realistic I know it’s not.

Tillyminny · 30/03/2024 00:44

@rainyday32 did you conceive? I’m 47 and been TTC since I was 43. I check my ovulation every month but also told I have a less than 1% chance now. Although when I started TTC I was told my results were not too bad. Obviously declined quite quickly. I don’t know if i should just give up hope

Tillyminny · 30/03/2024 00:47

@SwordToFlamethrower how are you getting on? I’m TTC at 47 so I’m interested. I’ve been trying since I was 43 but nothing at all. Had fertility tests and at 43 the tests were okay but now I E got less than 1% chance

summerbreeze2000 · 30/03/2024 05:42

@Tillyminny I'm 45 and have been TTC number 2 since I was about 43,
Had DD1 when I was 40.
I'm all but given up hope on this one.
Conceived DD1 within 7 months of trying 2 years has been long.
However I've kind of stopped obsessing over it now.

summerbreeze2000 · 30/03/2024 05:44

@Tillyminny are you TTC your first? Would IVF or donor eggs be an option for you?
And I'm sure you are already, using OPKs and tracking with an app.
I use Flo. Although when my period was later by a couple of days it bugged me with its "do a pregnancy test!" "Are you pregnant?" "Switch to the pregnancy app" 😃😩🤦🏻‍♀️

Tillyminny · 30/03/2024 10:22

@summerbreeze2000 ah your message made me laugh 😂. I’ve been to fertility clinics but they said that it wouldn’t be ethical because I have fibroids so I’d need to get treatment for them. So I went to see about that but the only options for me are things that interfere with fertility and would likely end in a hysterectomy. So I suppose I’d rather live with a minute chance of s miracle than no chance whatsoever. The fibroids are actually on the outside so wouldn’t interfere with an embryo sticking. It’s just the clinic didn’t think it was ethical because it there is more chance of miscarriage. I’ve heard of Flo and was thinking of giving it a try but currently using Bellabeat which always predict my ovulation correctly and day 1 of my period x

Tillyminny · 30/03/2024 10:26

@summerbreeze2000 yeah…part of me thinks ‘just give up’ because you hear stories of how people give up after years of trying then get pregnant as soon as they give up. But then I think if I give up the universe might listen to me and push me into menopause 🙄 . I take sooo many supplements too x

summerbreeze2000 · 31/03/2024 05:19

@Tillyminny have you thought about getting an ultrasound to check for follicles ?
I had one done when I was 40 and it gave me a clear indication of how many follicles I had per ovary. And if there was a dominant one. There was and of course we relaxed...3 months later we conceived.

I go a lot on relaxing but it's really hard when you know you are knocking on the door of menopause...

I turn 46 in August so I'm not holding out much hope now.

Periods are regular though...

Tillyminny · 31/03/2024 10:56

@summerbreeze2000 i think there was only one last time I had a check. My periods and ovulation are like clockwork though. When I first started trying I had a good number of follicles but they rapidly declined. The only hope I have now is when I read stories about women generations ago (before ivf) who got pregnant in their late 40s or even 50. Sometimes they pop up on feeds on social media and I get a little Ray of hope. But realistically I know i should give up x

summerbreeze2000 · 02/04/2024 11:25

@digitalmeta ?

summerbreeze2000 · 02/04/2024 11:26

@Tillyminny can I ask how you know when you ovulate?
Sometimes it can be later / earlier

Tillyminny · 02/04/2024 11:28

@unicornglitter123 im in exactly the same boat. I’ve been trying since2020 and I’m now 47. Unfortunately it didn’t work for me (although I’ll not give up). I’ve been taking so many supplements and reading about nutrition. I obsessively read posts on social media and my hope is that sometimes I come across people posting about grandmothers having healthy babies in their late 40s or even early 50s (before IVF).

Tillyminny · 02/04/2024 11:53

@summerbreeze2000 i use the ovulation strips. I also track everything on an app. The app predicts my fertile window and I start testing as soon as I enter into that time. It’s generally accurate give or take a day. I used two apps but one was completely off. I can also feel slight pain like period pain (but it’s ovulation pain) and that gives me an idea too.

KoraliaValentine · 02/04/2024 11:57

Can I join? I'm 42, been trying for a year and a half. Got pregnant last autumn but ended in a MMC at 10 weeks. We knew it was coming as had gone private for early scans and knew the baby wasn't growing at the normal rate from 6th week.

Decided to have one shot at IVF with own eggs. Had egg retrieval on Sunday, and found out yesterday that 9 eggs have fertilised. Of course there are still really low odds of this resulting in an actual baby, so trying not to get my hopes up too much!

Edited to add that this would be my first baby.

Tillyminny · 02/04/2024 15:05

@KoraliaValentine thats brilliant news that 9 of the eggs have fertilised.
