TTC - month 8

Nelly08 · 01/05/2023 01:08

I’m in my early thirties and me and my partner decided to try for a baby so I can off the pill in November, now in May we are still TTC. All of my friends fell pregnant really easy and now I’m starting to worry. I haven’t got anyone to talk to about this and it’s really starting to get me down. I track ovulation and BBT monthly and ovulate with all the signs each month - hopefully someone has been in my shoes or is in the same boat and we can support each other
thanks for reading x

It’s worth stating I’m in my two week wait and having cramps currently 6dpo and struggling this month with symptom spotting

Took me 6 months and i felt frustrated. The month we did concieve was the month i made DP take male prenatals and he also stopped vaping. Obviously we dont know if it helped but i did catch.

NurseEssie · 01/05/2023 05:29

Took me 8 months OP.
DH and I both vaped by the way. I stopped whilst pregnant.

Healthy happy baby.
Have you done AHM level tests, and also 21 day blood test? Both private.

I used ovulation sticks to tell me when I was
Ovulating.

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 01/05/2023 08:40

Just some recommendations, the month I used SMEP and the clear blue ovulation monitor I got pregnant. No idea which one it was or a combo of both but I ovulated earlier than I thought I was at CD12/13 x

Nelly08 · 01/05/2023 11:33

Thanks ladies for your responses I’m tracking ovulation, using SMEP and tried pre seed last month. I think next stop is getting tests privately as GP recommends waiting until 12 months. I guess it’s just frustrating watching everyone around you get pregnant so easily x

akk · 02/05/2023 21:53

We're in pretty much the same boat, in early 30s and came off the pill in December :( haven't been tracking bbt or ovulation because my cycles haven't regulated yet.

ar91 · 02/05/2023 22:04

We're in a similar position. Early 30s, have been trying a little longer at almost 18 months, so have had some fertility testing done through NHS.
I completely agree it's so frustrating seeing it happen what seems easily for everyone else. I think every single one of my friends has had a baby in the last couple of years 😅 It's tough.

I would definitely recommend private fertility testing if not keen to wait the 12 months. If you're in a position to be able to pay privately then it can only help to have some answers.

Also currently 6dpo and finding the TWW hard work this month. Xx

Nelly08 · 04/05/2023 18:04

Keep the faith ladies our time will come! I’ve tried not to look at apps during the TWW so I’m not obsessed with what DPO I am, seems to have helped this month and has weirdly made the two weeks go fast xx

On month 7 and understand your feelings. I just feel down other women seem to just pregnant easily. Even some women aged 40 plus, with PCOS etc and still they can get lucky quickly.
Also hearing stats that most women get pregnant within 6 months isn't reassuring but also heard 75% women aged 30-38 trying for 6 months do get pregnant within 12 months after so holding on to that statistic for hope..
I am getting private tests done with my dh this month and this gives me some peace of mind that we are making some steps just to find out if there are any issues.

ar91 · 04/05/2023 18:26

The statistics scare me tbh. It makes me feel like I've lost any chance because I haven't fallen in to any of them. I know they're just generalised but it's hard not to focus on them isn't it.

Feel like I'm just waiting for AF now to arrive and give me another opportunity! X

Nelly08 · 05/05/2023 00:58

Thanks Ladies, I actually always believed I would fall pregnant so easily. Even when the contraceptive pill I was so careful not to miss one or take it too late as I believed it was so easy to get pregnant - how wrong was I :( just did a test and it’s negative so feeling completely deflated now and just gutted really. I think tests are the next stop! Sending you all luck and positivity xx

OP posts:
akk · 11/05/2023 22:08

I know what you mean about the pill and being so careful, I used to freak out if I was a few hours late taking it. Never crossed my mind that I could 'forget' 4/5 months worth of pills in a row and still not be pregnant.

All the best for your tests and hope you get some positive news soon!

Makemeover3 · 12/05/2023 11:24

It took us 15 months to conceive our daughter. We’d had tests done, mine came back clear but my husbands sperm count was low. We were waiting for an appointment at the fertility clinic when we conceived. I’ve got no idea if it was a coincidence but 3 months after banning my husband from hot baths and him taking a make conception vitamin we conceived. We’re planning to start trying again soon so he’s already on the vitamins and banned from hot baths as a preemptive strike!

I remember how difficult it was. Sending you lots of love and hoping you get your BFP soon!

Fifii · 23/05/2023 07:31

I’m in a very similar position - came off the pill in October and no luck yet. My cycles have been regular but the last couple have been weird which makes me worry.

one of my best friends got pregnant on her first month ttc and even though I’m so happy for her and love getting her updates, it makes me want it so much more. I feel like everyone around me is either pregnant or just had a baby, and peoples comments really don’t help. The usual ‘does it make you broody?’ type questions when you’re holding a baby - it sounds silly but it makes me want to cry! And the stress really doesn’t help haha

have you looked into getting tests done? I feel like that’s my next step too if nothing happens this month (AF due this weekend).

sending everyone lots of baby dust ✨

Nelly08 · 23/05/2023 09:50

Thanks ladies, I went for some blood tests and so far have come back normal with the exception of low haemoglobin levels but going for a retest, I am hoping this is the cause and it’s something as simple as low iron levels but won’t know until the results all come back in. Sending positivity and baby dust we will get there xx

I ended up finding out that I had endometriosis and PCOS, had surgery in May and fell pregnant 6 weeks later.
Currently 15 weeks 😊

Amazing!!! massive congratulations!
what led you to a diagnosis of endometriosis? Did you have symptoms?
I have a small adenomyoma but have spoken to 5 different O&G consultants who have all said to ignore it as it’s not impacting it or to not have surgery to remove it. It was an incidental finding for me so I have no symptoms whatsoever! Sometimes I do wonder if I have endo too, but again only mild symptoms! Xx

Wow that’s amazing news! Congratulations to you!!! We are on cycle 8, I did have a chemical in May on cycle 4 so I’m holding onto hope that it CAN happen, but this has given me lots of hope so thank you so much 🩵

OneHeapedTeaspoonOfSugar · 22/09/2024 20:48

I also have borderline PCOS so even though it’s cycle number 8 we are coming up to 9 months of trying which is always a bit mental to think I could have grown a human in this time 🤯

Thank you! We were referred to fertility services after a year of trying and my endometriosis was very clear on an ultrasound which is not always the case. The Consultant could see that my ovaries were literally stuck together and to my pelvis, way to far down for an egg to get to the right place. I would say that I had endo symptoms years ago but my symptoms after stopping the pill weren't typical of it. My bloods were clear for PCOS but I had some symptoms.

How long have you been trying??

I have had such a similar experience! congratulations to you 😊

I also ended up finding out I had endometriosis, which was also obvious on an ultrasound (and subsequent MRI). My ovaries were stuck behind my uterus, my uterus was stuck to my colon, I had an endometrioma, etc.

I had surgery in early March which thankfully was very successful, and I fell pregnant 6 weeks later in mid April.

currently 25 weeks pregnant and feeling kicks as I type this 😊

Ahh congratulations 😊 I can't wait to start feeling kicks! I'm currently in the phase where I don't feel sick or anything anymore and I also can't feel baby which is a bit anxiety inducing. I'm sure I'll regret wishing these weeks away though once baby starts kicking me all night!!

Oh that’s interesting, did you have a hycosy during that time too? That must have been such a rollercoaster - they really don’t prepare you for this do they!!

I had irregular periods and have a very subtle sign on my bloods for PCOS but no ultrasound features so they think I’m borderline. We’ve been trying since the beginning of this year “actively”, but I’ve always been a bit anxious about this stuff since finding out I have this adenomyoma last year, so we’ve done a lot of stuff privately in terms of investigations. My husband has a low sperm concentration and has been doing all of the lifestyle stuff, as well as having seen a urologist who couldn’t find anything to treat, so with us both having things I’ve felt really worried about conceiving.

Trying to let this go, relax, and next step will be IVF privately if we haven’t conceived by next year xx
