Teuch, I think maybe you are right about going with your instincts, you will know whats right for you. Looking more at this website it def says no co-sharing at all, I think mainly due to the dangers of you rolling on top of baby, but this works for a lot of people. Just like breast feeding works for some people (I really want to gove it a go) but others never get on with it.

Kay, I'm def not doing sleep suits with poppers, quite keen on the idea of nighties at the moment,
like this but I am sure I will change my mind later . Quite enjoying all this "research", there's so much to do/investigate/look at!

NatalieJane · 18/02/2008 14:10

Actually BB it was the biggest PITA we bought! Never used the changer top thing, the toy bar thing was way too high for him to use while he was led down. The best thing about it was that it had a vibrating matress thing, and the nightlight was useful, other than that it was just a travel cot! Ours was a very slightly different colour way, I don't think they do it anymore, was the same brown and beige tones, but has little black stars all over it. Think it was called twinkle star or something, my memory is failing!

Which buggy are you planning on? I like a good buggy conversation, hun

kayzisbroody · 18/02/2008 14:10

Nat, were you ever scared that you or your dh would roll over onto your ds?
My HV told us never to have ds in our bed as we may roll over onto him and suffocate him. Which is why I could never do it as I think she put the fear of god into me by telling me that.
I would have loved to share as I thought it would be really nice to be able to cuddle him to sleep.

Playingthewaitinggame · 18/02/2008 14:11

BB, what pram are you going for then?

Teuch · 18/02/2008 14:12

DS used to dirty nappies at every feed so night changes became the norm...luckily the deal was that I fed and DH would change, for a while anyway. If I knew he had a busy day ahead then I would go into the livingroom to feed & change.

BTW we didn't co-sleep (well, officially) but did have spells when DS was about 6-12 months where he would come into our bed for part of the night...this still happens . Oh, and he only went into his own room a few months ago

Teuch · 18/02/2008 14:15

well...wrt the co-sleeping...they do say that you shouldn't co-sleep if you have had alcohol, smoke, are under the influence or drugs or are overtired Show me a new mum who ain't overtired .

In reality though, the stats ahve dropped for co-sleepers of 'better' socioeconomic status - basically those who are less likely to smoke, etc anyway. I love the wee baby nest things that you get for having them in your bed...off to find a link

kayzisbroody · 18/02/2008 14:18

Playing I love those, I wish I had found them when ds was waking up for night feeds.
Ds comes into our bed in the morning if we want a lie in, but he tends to try and eat the bed.

Teuch · 18/02/2008 14:21

here?

Playingthewaitinggame · 18/02/2008 14:21

You see all the "research" pays off! I am going to be the best prepared knowlegable non pg person around

Teuch · 18/02/2008 14:21

ds was 'helping' with that post...

kayzisbroody · 18/02/2008 14:22

I really like the idea of those.
I also like those bedside cots you can get but our bedroom isn't big enough

Playingthewaitinggame · 18/02/2008 14:22

Teuch, I had seen them before and think they are a great compromise for people who want to bed share. Not sure thats me though, I struggle to bed share with DH and we have a king size bed!! I am a very anti social sleeper, I need room to move!!

Playingthewaitinggame · 18/02/2008 14:25

I know what you mean kay, I am sure we could squeeze a moses basket in our room but we dont have much space, which is part of why I was thinking about using the nursery from day 1.

Playingthewaitinggame · 18/02/2008 14:27

Where's BB?? Was looking forward to our Buggy conversation

kayzisbroody · 18/02/2008 14:29

You can by monitors that have a mat which detects if your baby stops breathing

BeMyLilBaby · 18/02/2008 14:34

Im here soz... its a graco one and its black cant remember the name BUT im open to suggestions.....

NJ would you not recommend that travel cot then? would i be better of with a cheaper one?

we have a secret weapon...DPs BF works for TOys r us so we can get discount at babies r us lol x

Teuch · 18/02/2008 14:36

Kay - our friend had one of those but the alarm went off so regularly that they stopped using it. I don't like sharing a bed either...but then I don't particularly like things chomping on my nipples and I did that for 10 mths!!

Sun's out...think we will head outdoors.

Playingthewaitinggame · 18/02/2008 14:38

BB, I love your secret weapon!! What use are you though if you cant rememebr what graco . I am just being nosy, I know nothing about buggies from the POV of using them but I know how to fit buggy boards to them! Not sure what I want yet. I want something where baby can lie flat facing me, thats light (ish) easy to fold and can it a buggy board (just in case).

Playingthewaitinggame · 18/02/2008 14:39

will also get a good study baby carrier and possible a sling as well.

kayzisbroody · 18/02/2008 14:43

I got a baby carrier and I hated it, but I'm going to buy a proper sling this time. We're in the process of buying a carrier that goes on your back for ds.

Teuch - my friends one kept going off too, they dont sound that good.

kayzisbroody · 18/02/2008 14:45

I really like this one I think

Teuch · 18/02/2008 14:46

I have an Infinity - mothercare now do one the same - and it was great. It has carry cot and buggy bit which are both reversible, plus car seat that attached straight to wheels, which was fab for shopping as no heavy pram to lug...

Aww...has been discontinued

Playingthewaitinggame · 18/02/2008 14:48

Kay, you have to get the right baby carrier Certain brands are just crap (not going to name names) but there are others that are great. Needs to be fully adjustable for both you and DH, and properly supportive so it does not put undue strain on your back, one that are comaptible with car seats are also great so you dont have to wake them up to put them in the car. I think you really do get what you pay for. My time spent selling baby/toddler products does have uses sometimes!
