@MrsJGrealish Wohoo lovely that's a excellent line well done for all the wee saving 💪🏼

Happinessandrainbows · 15/03/2023 19:33

@MrsJGrealish omg that's amazing!

bunnykins123 · 15/03/2023 19:38

@FfoxRedN oh god progesterone, good luck with the 💨 😂 honestly I'm so happy for you! I'm good thanks, 17 weeks now 🫣 had my midwife appt today and heard the heartbeat which was so nice (I was trying for persuade her not to as I was convinced something was wrong!) it feels a bit surreal tbf. God, men. So unhelpful, ignore those comments. It's not remotely faint and you do not need to wait for AF not to arrive. 🙄🙄

@MrsJGrealish OMG!!!! This is too much! 💕💕💕 have you told DH?!

@MrsJGrealish @FfoxRedN I am literally so made up for you both, I have a little happy tear at the corner of my eye!!!!

bunnykins123 · 15/03/2023 19:38

@theblueflowers how are you lovely? I was thinking about you the other day. 💕

FfoxRedN · 15/03/2023 19:44

@bunnykins123 aw thanks so much 🥰. I'm so glad you're doing well too, wonderful news that you've heard the heartbeat too xxx

@MrsJGrealish I am glad we have each other to get through this 🥰 xxx

MrsJGrealish · 15/03/2023 19:52

Thank you so much ❤️

DH doesn't know yet I need to wrap my head around it. He knows AF still not here. But I can't cope with him freaking out alongside me. Well for however long this lasts 🤞🙏 He's literally just handed me a glass of water though normally it's do you want wine 🤣

I'll hand him a digital when I tell him I think 💕 he has trust issues with anything other than clearblue (which is why I buy them) Xx

LuckyMoonstone · 15/03/2023 20:01

@calimc83 hope recovery is still going well, does little miss have a name yet?

FfoxRedN · 15/03/2023 20:01

@MrsJGrealish DH is the same. You do you, whenever feels right to tell him (I wish I'd waited now he's doing my head in). Xx

Indianna2006 · 15/03/2023 20:26

@MrsJGrealish deffo a very good pink line!! Eeeeek. Come on little bean 🤞🏼🥰
@FfoxRedN for now you are both pregnant. And all you can do is breathe and keep re thinking that line and mantra 🙏 each new pregnancy is a new chance.

@bunnykins123 ah so glad you got to hear heartbeat 🥰 cooking away nicely in there x

LuckyMoonstone · 15/03/2023 20:30

@bunnykins123 was it easy to find the heartbeat? I’m so scared to say yes at my 16 week appointment in case she can’t find it and I end up being left to worry for another 4 weeks 😕 did she say what would happen if she didn’t find it, like send you for a scan?

Happinessandrainbows · 15/03/2023 20:47

@LuckyMoonstone my midwife said that finding heartbeat at 16 weeks is actually easier than at 24 weeks and that they used to routinely use Doppler for as early as 12 weeks and had no issues. I was a bit worried but she reassured me and encouraged to try at my 16 week appt. She also said if she couldn't find one she wouldn't be able to send me for a scan as they're actually not meant to use Doppler at 16 weeks.

LuckyMoonstone · 15/03/2023 21:02

@Happinessandrainbows but if they couldn’t hear the heartbeat, I don’t know how they can just leave you to worry for 4 weeks until the 20 week scan, it’s utterly horrible.
Last time I got to my 16 week appointment, I said no to hearing the heartbeat as I had a private scan booked a week later so I didn’t feel the need to. If I had accepted, they wouldn’t have heard anything becuse little did I know that my baby was already gone 😔 I often wonder what might have happened if I’d said yes, if I would have been sent for a scan and found out sooner. Or just been left to wait a week and gone to my private scan already thinking the worst.

Happinessandrainbows · 15/03/2023 21:13

@LuckyMoonstone she said that if she doesn't hear anything, it wouldn't have to mean anything bad but she couldn't send me for a scan.
Every hospital/trust might be different though. Maybe see how you feel on the day ❤️
Do you have the same midwife this time or is it a different midwife looking after this pregnancy?
Is your next appt coming up soon?

bunnykins123 · 15/03/2023 21:15

@FfoxRedN thank you! I've been a nervous wreck for all the significant milestones (7 week, 10 week and 12 week scans) and 16 week midwife appointment! I just want to feel the movement now so I can relax a bit. I confess I did rent a Doppler today which I'm sure has band news written all over it but I can't spend hours, days worrying anymore!

@MrsJGrealish haha do you think he might subconsciously know already? He has spotted to bigger breasts and who's husband gives them water out of choice?! Tell him when you're ready, I didn't tell mine until 5 weeks and that was only because we'd arranged to meet at the pub after work so I handed him the digital test. Was quite a moment in hindsight!

@Indianna2006 thanks lovely! You must be so ready to just pop now. How's the sciatica? I feel like I'm getting a bit achy in the ol' buttock area and wondering if this is the beginning for me...

@LuckyMoonstone straight away. Maybe like a second. But to reassure you, before I let her put the probe on the tum, I asked what happens if she can't find it. She said she would immediately send me to the hospital for a mini scan (not sure if that's a proper ultrasound - I didn't ask). She said in the many years she has done this, she has only had to send 1 person to hospital and that was fine too. Felt very reassuring at the time. When she found it, to me it sounded like fuzzing. She was like 'oooo you hear that!!' I responded 'err not really, is that the heartbeat?!' It then became clearer and we listened for a couple of minutes. Was lovely actually and in hindsight I'm so glad she did it but may not have felt that way if she couldn't find it. I completely understand the anxiety about the 16 week appointment given your experience previously though. How many weeks are you now? Would you consider a 14 week scan as a buffer between 12 weeks and 16 weeks?

bunnykins123 · 15/03/2023 21:16

@Happinessandrainbows good god! I think I would have refused on the spot if the midwife told me that!

calimc83 · 15/03/2023 21:20

Hey just about caught up with this thread now 😅 all ok over here. Baby girl has been cluster feeding since 4pm...my boobs are dead! @LuckyMoonstone still no name..but I got the name book out today so guessing that's progress! @MrsJGrealish @FfoxRedN omg ladies... argh I've missed sooo much! Huge congratulations 🥳 so happy for u both. How are u feeling??
@bunnykins123 yay u heard the heartbeat! Amazing news lovely. It must seem soo real now. So happy for u xxx

LuckyMoonstone · 15/03/2023 21:21

@Happinessandrainbows @bunnykins123 oh so you were told different things at your appointments, so I guess it does differ all over! I will tell her why I’m worried about it and hopefully her policy is to request a scan if a heartbeat isn’t heard. Or maybe she will understand why it would be so hard for me emotionally and make an exception. She isn’t the midwife I had with the baby I lost but she was my midwife for DS so I like her and feel comfortable talking to her about how I feel, I wouldn’t be worried about getting upset in front of her. It’s in just over 2 weeks time so I’ll actually be 16 and a half weeks.

@bunnykins123 I have considered getting a Doppler to use at home but it might cause more trouble than good

LuckyMoonstone · 15/03/2023 21:22

@calimc83 I love talking about baby names, let us know if you need help!

Indianna2006 · 15/03/2023 21:38

@LuckyMoonstone @Happinessandrainbows @bunnykins123 I deff think it varies. Where are you all based?

I am like East Anglia but England based. And mine didn’t check heartbeat. I knew she wouldn’t though as I knew from other friends that they hadn’t as policy had changed in England I believe since my DD was born. MOST midwife’s will still check it…just because there kind. Particularly if you’re slim. Or they did for most of my friends. But they cannot refer you for a scan if they can’t find it as the nice guidance had changed and it would just be rejected as they shouldn’t be doing the heartbeat. Is what is current practise in our area.

In my maternity pack. On the notes section of what checks they give. It actually does state all the others where they check heartbeat and 16 w it doesn’t list it as they removed it.

again I think most will. But if you’re in England I think you’ll find they can’t actually refer for a scan or it would be refused after the referall. But they perhaps might in exceptional circumstances for you@LuckyMoonstone. But either way. No one’s gonna go not hear a heartbeat and then not get a private scan and wait 4 weeks. Cos they’d be bonkers.

I didn’t get to hear heartbeat but I was prepared for them to say that. So we booked a gender scan obv after anyway.

I was told they took it out because larger ladies it can be harder to find the heartbeat because the babies are still so small. And it was a waste of resources to send so many people for scans when they couldn’t find it and caused unnecessary worry. When the scans obv vast majority were totally fine. It was just to early to hear it.

Again Scotland or Ireland will have diff rules on that again. So does depend where you are and if your midwife sticks to rules or not. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

Very annoying though as it’s a bit of a unknown until you go in..

Indianna2006 · 15/03/2023 21:41

@Happinessandrainbows funny how yours said totally diff as well about it being easier to find.
I don’t see how that’s accurate. Makes more sense to me it’s harder to find smaller they are. It’s VERY loud at 28 weeks and thereafter. Like there is no denying it’s a heart beat. It sounds quite different to at 16 weeks imo which can be quite faint and not as distinguishable.

Indianna2006 · 15/03/2023 21:42

@bunnykins123 ugh my pelvis is being right agg. I am waddling about so much mum today at school said looked like I was fed up and in pain. I was like I am a bit. But not long. And very grateful I’ve almost got there before it plays up.
try some pregnancy yoga maybe. Keep it all supple and stretched as much as possible.
deffo have find it harder second time. Having if a child already makes it harder. And I deffo am bigger and just clicker and clunkier 🤣

MrsJGrealish · 15/03/2023 21:44

@bunnykins123 he probably does..he never gives me water and he felt my boobs and was like mmm quizzically not enjoyment (well he is a man probably enjoyment on some level🙄😂)

17 weeks..and a heartbeat 💗 I'm so happy for you ❤️❤️ my gp couldn't find DS2s heartbeat and said ah well it's probably there. Probably?? Like she was so bad I changed practice after that.

@calimc83 my friend had a little girl 2 weeks ago and she chose a lovely name. Kinda old fashioned but I don't wanna say on an open forum because I know of no other babies called this. Totally outting myself with that one 🤣
