The TWW begins - testing 11/12 Feb.

Hi all

I’ve commented on a few threads but thought I would start a new one for anyone who may have ovulated over the weekend and now starting the TWW? Officially 1DPO today.

This is our first cycle trying to conceive #1. I came off the pill a few weeks ago, had my normal withdrawl bleed. Had flashing smileys last week with the static appearing on Saturday. I will assume I ovulated yesterday as I had a fair few cramps.

Anyone else in the same boat?

@madeofcodes can you remind me what that is? I know what it stands for, but is it DTD every other day until the fertile days and then every day? I honestly get way too tired lol.

It's the sperm meets egg method/plan. Essentially meaning you're actively ensuring there's no time the little swimmers miss the ovulation. I'll attach a screenshot I found online! I'm due to ovulate on Saturday according to my app but will be testing. Planning on DTD every other day this week, and then every day Saturday, Sunday, Monday then miss a day and then Wednesday for example.

@madeofcodes got it, thank you!! I can’t do that this month as having a HSG and you’re not actually allowed to TTC until a few days after the test is all done and so I’m likely going to be skipping March all together based on when my testing will fall!

Im in a slightly different boat. Same sex couple and we use a sperm donor through artificial insemination at home ...... This will be our 4th baby conceived this way (1 MC) so it does work but we basically have 1 shot per cycle and timing is key! We have successfully conceived on cycle day 10 before.... Others were mainly 1 day before positive ovulation test if my memory is correct. So I guess would fit with the sperm meets egg theory. This will be our 4th try this time. Timing has been pretty good (or so I thought) but nothing. I am planning on waiting for the peak smiley on the digital this time rather than the flashing smiley (high)
Strange as like I said other times have definitely had positive ovulation test the day after insemination and have been successful. But gonna hold and an extra day till cd13 and maybe 13 will be my lucky number 🤞
Also if anyone believes the try early for a girl theory. It's tish tosh because I have 3 boys 100% conceived at least 2 days before ovulation.

Also every cycle we try I get 'symptoms' that I don't notice any other cycle when we don't try....
My stomach bloats within a couple of days of incemination and I get cramps basically every day right up until AF arrives 🤷‍♀️
I try to ignore everything now because I know it means nothing.
1st month we tried I was peeing loads (and I can usually go all day at work without toilet break) I was waking at 6 am for a wee.
I was having vivid dreams several times a week and I don't usually dream much lol.
I won't even talk about the discharge!
But I was so sure it had worked... And it hadn't 😔
IV also learnt not to test early because I feel it's pointless.
My actual pregnancies all showed on first response early ones 5/6 days before period was due. But if I get a negative at 5/6 days early. I like to torture myself for a few more days and keep testing just incase it's too early! Really just keeps your hopes up and makes it harder when AF arrives to confirm your definitely not pregnant.
I used the digital pregnancy tests for the first time this time and I really like them actually.
If you remember my previous posts this month, I took a first response early and I watched a white line appear straight away which I thought was going to tune pink, then disappeared and left a very very faint line. But turned out to be nothing.
I also posted a very upset post upon first seeing the words not pregnant on the digital. However now I'm over it I feel like I would rather SEE the words so I'm 100% sure. That being said I still wait till the day period due so I know the words are correct 🙈
This whole TTC really is a nightmare!
I'm writing an essay now but honestly I really wish everyone who's still trying loads of luck for this time. Let's do this 🙏🥰

Hi @Lauraboymum I agree. We have had 4 cycles of trying. Luckily this month worked & it may be coincidence but this is the only month we DTD 2 days before ovulation. The others we have waited for what we thought was "peak" time. Hopefully this approach helps other people too. 🤞 for you all xx

My cycles have been perfect for a year, starting trying last month and had a 37 day cycle (AF finally arrived today). Honestly why do our bodies do this!

Im having blood tests on Monday so I’ll report back if my Doctor flags anything that might be of use to others.

@Soda123x thats reassuring to know as I get a bit obsessive. I think we’re just going to aim for every other day this month.

Really hoping it happens as ideally I don’t want a Xmas / jan baby!

After my period came and finished on Monday and it was very heavy flow for 5 days. I started doing my OPK test and for some reason it come back positive on cd7 so I did pregnancy tests and I’m pregnant 😍 how it’s possible?

update it was my little bean implanting! Got my BFP on Monday! Forgot to update this thread! Others who got BFPs check out the November Babies thread on the pregnancy chat - there's a FB group too if anyone is interested 😊

@Ks2023 not very common but I'm sure I've heard of people still having periods when pregnant?! I'd see your GP for clarity - maybe they can do a blood test for you?? Tentative congratulations!

I've just posted this in another group but I think I've missed my surge (if I had one) - I'm on antibiotics and I wonder if they're messing with my hormones? 😩

@madeofcodes oh that's frustrating! Have you been DTD regardless of do you wait for +ve opk? Hopefully you've not missed it and it's just the antibiotics messing things up a bit?! The one that says low at 0.5 looks quite strong to me?! Maybe you had a quick surge that night?! I never know much about it tbh. Good luck!!

Luckily we DTD on CD4, 6, 9, 11 and 12 because I panicked and thought we'd missed it. I know antibiotics mess up with contraception so I thought what if it can mess up hormones too? Who knows. The 0.5 line gave me hope that my levels were rising but maybe I already peaked? The female body continues to astound (confuse mostly) me!!

I'm out because our sperm donor isn't available today so tomro will be too late as just got this and I'm pretty sure I'm ovulating now because have some pains 😔

@Lauraboymum don't these tests indicate that you'll be ovulating within next 48hrs? I would think you'd still be in with a chance if you can see your donor tomorrow? 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I took another test this morning with the easy at home and it's the darkest IV ever had one! So hopefully I haven't missed it! Going to try today. Just I have my cousin's baby shower at 2 o'clock so won't be able to meet donor until about 5 but 🤞 top pic 8pm last night bottom now

Ok so I'm officially in the ttw again 🙈 we decided was worth a try and I think was a good decision because test was still peak on the stops and digital when I done another at 4pm yesterday. Test strip still dark but lighter than yesterday's now.

@Lauraboymum im on some of the other threads (seen a few of us around) but as my update - just waiting for OV! A boring time but less tense than the TWW.

Your tests look great!! Hopefully this is the month.

Also, apologies but this is me failing to keep track, what’s the background to using a donor? (Sorry if you’ve already shared / don’t want to share, I just like hearing everyone’s stories :) )
