Ovulation test nightmare

Hello,

Could anybody please help me with my ovulation tests. I'm so confused - I'm currently following sperm meets egg plan so have been testing daily. According to my app I should have ovulated yesterday - but the tests all seem to show a similar line strength from when I first started testing!

I'm worrying I'm not going to ovulate at all :(

Thanks in advance if anyone can help!

Anyone? 😞

You just need to keep testing and bump up to 3 times a day. Sometimes the surge is so short lived, it's missed between morning and evening xx

Luana1 · 18/01/2023 11:15

Looks like your body is gearing up to ovulate but struggling. Only way to know if you are actually ovulating is to have your progesterone tested 7 days before your next period is due. You can request it at the GP if you’ve been trying for a while.

spermysperm · 18/01/2023 11:19

@Luana1

Oh no how come you think it's struggling? :(

@overthinkersanonnymus

Thank you - I actually thought I was resting too obsessively! I'll bump it up to three times xx

Hello! I know it can be really frustrating but there’s just no way to really tell without blood tests! Do you track BBT? If not I really would suggest purchasing can get for £10 on Amazon and is really good to see on a chart when progesterone starts rising! Good luck to you 🫶🏽

When I did SMEP for baby #1, I used the clear blue digital ovulation tests. They're quite expensive but they're the only ones which give you a definite answer so maybe try them?

spermysperm · 18/01/2023 11:25

@TTC0123

Thank you - I have got one of those but I haven't used it yet as I didn't understand it properly. I will look into it and use it next month - hopefully that will give me clearer answers!

spermysperm · 18/01/2023 11:26

@KY2021

I used to use those but it did get so expensive - I should also add - I only have one working fallopian tube. I had surgery not long ago which confirmed I do ovulate as I had a small cyst removed off one of my ovaries (doctor said he can see I am ovulating) x

As PP said sack off these and use the Clearblue Ovulation ones. They look at two different hormones so more reliable. You just rest once a day, with your longest urine hold overnight (so if I went to the loo in the night I’d take a sample and use that in the morning if it was my longest hold). I ovulated 3/4 days late second month of using these and wouldn’t have known without these tests. She’s 13 months old now so testament to them.

Emmamoo89 · 18/01/2023 11:28

Keep testing. I'm currently CD14 and still not peaked yet x

spermysperm · 18/01/2023 11:32

@Mostwonderful

Thank you - I am wondering if I do ovulate later than my app suggests! I know it sounds stupid to depend on an app telling me!
I have always had peaks using these strips in the past but I've not used them for a while whilst I had surgery to sort my insides out!
Thank you for your help 🤍

Thank you - hopefully we'll both get our positives soon xx

@spermysperm hi OP, don't worry yet, it's your first time tracking so it'll give you a lot of information. It's not unusual to ov later in your cycle & the apps go off of length of period & that you have a LP of 14 days, so there's lots of room for it to be wrong (as mine was). Most apps say you'll ov CD 14 as that's 'standard'. I don't ov until CD 18-20 usually so keep going, up testing when you see it getting darker & try not to panic!

meetmeinthespring · 18/01/2023 11:43

@Mostwonderful that is really interesting...can I ask how long your cycles are?

I'm also using the Clearblue digital OPK's .
I have a 25 day cycle...I was getting circles (negative) days 9 to 11... then ran out of tests 🤦🏻‍♀️
I'm sure I'm out for this cycle despite DTD a few times...

So trying for next cycle I may need to test longer?
Surely I can't ovulate after say day 14?
Also heard OPK's can pick up too late?

OneHundredOtters · 18/01/2023 11:44

I think you need to change testing times. LH surge is often in the afternoon so try and test around 5/6pm

spermysperm · 18/01/2023 11:48

@timetosave

Thank you :) unfortunately it isn't my first time tracking - I've been ttc for two years so have tracked on and off prior to having surgery to sort my insides! This is only my second month ttc after surgery so I'm starting the tests again.

I will definitely take your advice - I'm sure in the past I have ovulated around day 17/18 but I don't have a record of it. Thank you xx

OP posts:
spermysperm · 18/01/2023 11:50

@OneHundredOtters

I'm going to test three times from now - I test when I first get up then when I finish work (around midnight). So maybe I am leaving too big a gap.. I didn't think of it like that

OP posts:
Mostwonderful · 18/01/2023 11:55

My cycles were 30 days at the time. Got a positive at 13dpo day 33 of cycle. I used to test quite early on so it was day 11 of testing and I’d normally get it a few days before then.

I used to save money by buying tests on eBay. People sell their spares on once they’ve got their positives. If I were you I’d test 9-14 unless I’d got a positive. You need to make sure you’re using the same unit as it learns your levels and will pick up on the fluctuations better. With the Clearblue they advise ovulation within 48 hours of the static smiley so should be ok. We’d have sex around when we thought and then at least once a day for 2/3 days once we got the static. Good luck!

spermysperm · 19/01/2023 17:49

The tests still aren't showing as positive - I'm cycle day 16 now. I'm really worrying :( I can't take anymore surgeries or problems with my fertility :(

My cycle is usually 24-27 days and ovulate CD12-15 (usually 26 day and ovulate CD14. But this cycle I ovulated CD17 (so a bit later) and am now pregnant. Some cycles you will just ovulate earlier or later than usual.

I also peak very quickly. It will be like yours one day and peak the next so it can happen any time.
