Hope everyone is going ok.

We've had a real curve ball today! I have applied for our Access Fertility funding package for private IVF. They are doing the medical review and if we pass the medical review we need to sign the consent forms and pay them.

My doctors secretary rang yesterday to say she now has all my bloods and results and she will be making the referral to NHS fertility services. I thought if the referral is only going through yesterday it's even more reason to go private as it will take ages. But the hospital rang me this morning to give me an appointment on 4th January 😐 factoring in Xmas, that's like... in 5 working days!!! I was just on the phone stunned.

So we are now not signing any private funding paperwork until I have this appointment incase NHS won't actually take that long after all.

xx

Hello everyone!

Firstly what a positive feed 🥰 I couldn’t help but want to be a part of it ☺️

@lemons44 amazing news about the referral on the NHS - I was just wondering which are you lived? I ask because we also have a referral going in (last week) and I was expecting 12 to 18 months on the NHS… No one has led me to believe this but myself. That’s such a speedy start! Exciting times ahead for 2023 ✨

In terms of me, I’ve been on this rodeo for a while now. I’m 30 TTC our first. I had a CP last month which was a huge surprise - it’s made me promise to never test early (AF due on Xmas day) but I guess I’m feeling a mix of emotions from that experience:

  1. It’s positive that even happened! I have endometriosis and had an operation to sort it previous (my ovary was attached to my womb) - this proves it was successful I’d like to assume! And that it could happen again with the hope that the bugger sticks this time!
  2. Slight anxiety around whether this is going to be the next challenge for me - endless Chemicals or further issues… but this was my first so I’m trying not to think about that too much.

I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas surprise and we have as many BFPs as possible between now and January 2023 🎄✨ anyone on this journey deserves some luck and I wish we all get a chunk of it really soon!

BakinABaby · 21/12/2022 23:36

@lemons44 that is indeed good news. And personally I think are you even in a serious relationship if you haven't examined anything medical around your partners groin XD

And congratulations on the baby girl!

I had my first fertility appointment on monday, nearly missed it cause of traffic and icy sidewalks. Now I need to get my 2nd day bloods done during my next cycle and hubby needs to make an appointment tomorrow to make an ahem donation. Then we have a follow up on 18th jan to discuss results.

lemons44 · 30/12/2022 12:29

Hi all,

Hope you all had a lovely Xmas!

@lemons44 shes a dream….she’s also so good I sleep more now than when I was pregnant! I’m sure it’ll change but for now I’m just making the most of it. How was your Xmas? Any update on nhs cycle? Have you got a date?

SaraSS · 30/12/2022 22:52

Hi @lemons44
Had a good Christmas thank you - how about you?
You'll be on countdown for your appointment in Jan now?
I'm due to ovulate soon, but full of a cold/flu so hoping we can still BD in the fertile days when they arrive..

Nearly 2023 ladies, any new years resolutions?

Koalie · 31/12/2022 07:26

Hi ladies !
My Christmas has been nice thank you @lemons44 but soooo slow, as we have been trying our best to avoid covid so using the time to switch off our brains! 😆 So far we have watched 13 films ! Lol. I stopped taking my Norethisterone on 28th and am now waiting for my period so I can start my stims 🤭 should be here any day now!
@Tinkerbell098 do you know when your FET will be yet?
@Carla2601 oh she sounds like a dream. 😍 how are you doing it, do you have a little routine for her? Also, can’t remember whether you shared her name with us or not? 🤔

Hope everyone has some lovely New Years plans 🎆🎇

xx

Bluemilan · 31/12/2022 07:57

Hi all, can I join?
Currently TTC #4. We've been trying on and off for almost 2 years now so it's starting to feel like it won't happen for us again. We've been so fortunate to have three healthy babies but also had 7 miscarriages and a stillbirth over the years so it's always an anxious time. I know logically I should just be grateful for the babies we've got already as there's so many people trying for #1 but just starting to get worried now as getting pregnant has never been the problem, it's staying pregnant we've struggled with! Not even a hint of a squint in these two years!

Indianna2006 · 31/12/2022 11:11

@Carla2601 congrats on your baby girl 💕💕 only just seen update in here. Hope the labour wasn’t too awful 😫

Hope the rest of you are doing as well as can be. Sending lots of baby dust for surprise BFPs and IVF cycles xxxx

NatW2021 · 31/12/2022 15:51

Hi ladies.

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas break, i am glad its almost over to be honest (although more time off would be nice)

9dpo i stupidly decided to a do a test BFN as expected, my temps have been consistently higher than normal last few days but i have been a bit under the weather, not very hopeful.

I haven't cried for a change think i am just getting used to this now month 18 cycle 20/21 losing count. I think its helping as i have give myself 6 months before we move forward with IVF so least there is some in end i sight to the same thing every month with no hope

@Indianna2006 how are you getting ok?

X

TinyDancer91 · 31/12/2022 16:09

Hi ladies.

Hope we are all well.

Looking for a bit of advice... we have been TTC #1 and are on cycle 13. My cycles have varies between 27 and 31 days, last 3 have all been 27/28 days though. I was expecting AF to arrive weds/thurs, yesterday at the latest. Still no AF. Had some mild cramps since Monday so expected AF to follow. Current on cycle day 30.

I tested using the easy@home hcg strips earlier in the week and got a BFN. Are they reliable and how early do they show if positive?

Do I go for it and test using my last FRER? Too scared of the disappointment of it being another BFN.

What should I do? Do I wait until Monday/Tuesday to test if AF still hasn't arrived?

OH keeps asking if AF has arrived and I keep telling him not to get too excited as I guess I'm not technically 'late' yet.

Help a girl out... praying this is the one but too scared to be too hopeful

Netflixnchilli · 31/12/2022 19:01

Hi ladies,

sorry I’ve been MIA for over a month now; think I just needed some time and space for my head.

I will spend some time tomorrow reading through the 7 pages that I’ve missed but I just wanted to wish you all a very happy new year. I know majority of us here are facing the end of another year where there wasn’t an extra little person round the table for Christmas dinner and how heavy it can feel as we move from the dream of a 2022 baby to a 2023 baby - my heart is full of all good wishes and baby dust hoping that tomorrow brings the start of a year where all of us can say that we will have a baby this year.

Lots of love xxx

TheBirdintheCave · 31/12/2022 20:03

Hello :) As of now I belong here. We've just had our second mmc of the year diagnosed so I'm waiting on surgery next week.

We've been trying for number two for a year. Our son took fifteen months but there were no losses to contend with there, just male factor infertility (low sperm motility).

The current plan is to go straight to IVF and keep trying in the mean time if there are any waiting periods (though I'm hoping the time will be minimal as it's private).

Good luck to everyone in 2023!

FlyOnTheWall89 · 01/01/2023 18:58

@TinyDancer91 you'll get an accurate result using a FRER at this point so depends how quickly you want to cut that thread of hope. I didn't do any testing at all after the first 4/5 months of trying because it was just too sad to see negatives. I only realised I could be pregnant because I hadn't had a 32 day cycle since the year before and then did a FRER and got a very strong positive and a digital confirmation too! But cycles do vary and I wouldn't have tooooo much hope - just keep expectations low to save your heart. Hoping it's your time 💖

TinyDancer91 · 01/01/2023 19:42

@FlyOnTheWall89 thanks, I'm trying not to get too hopeful and trying to keep OH under control too. Every time I go to the loo I get ask 'have you come on yet?' and then there's that hopeful look in his eyes when I say no...

I'm now on CD31, this is now officially my longest cycle yet. I've only had one other 31 day cycle and 3 30 day cycles since TTC, the rest have all been 27/28 days and the 4 30/31 day cycles were all in summer.

I'm really trying to stay realistic and and kind of expecting AF to arrive at any time still but I sooooo want this to be the one. I have to admit, after the first 5/6 cycles I stopped testing too as the stark white spaces were just too much to take each month.

Bluelightbaby · 01/01/2023 23:09

I’d like to join please. Been TTC one year. All tests completely normal, got an appointment with a fertility person via NHS (not ivf) end of January.

3yrs ago when we were together only a month I fell pregnant by accident - god knows how as we were so careful and we took the hardest decision ever to terminate - boy do I regret that now !!!

I’ve got two DD (18&15) from my last marriage

but we’ve now been TTC for a year which has been about 15 cycles (as I have short cycles). I’m super regular and tests show I ovulate each month. We DTD regularly around my fertile window but still nothing :(:(

Bluelightbaby · 01/01/2023 23:10

And to add I’m 43 in two weeks and DP is 33

monsteramunch · 02/01/2023 01:24

Oh god I feel like I'm going to have a panic attack about all this. It's had a sudden effect on me tonight, even worse than usual. What if it doesn't happen? I don't know how I will cope. I have really felt like it might this month and that's going to make it even more heartbreaking if it doesn't. It's so cruel.

I'm so sorry to everyone else struggling.

Koalie · 02/01/2023 08:10

Hi @Bluelightbaby welcome to the group. I know how you feel about the accidental pregnancy and why it feels so unfair that it was so easy that one time. My hubby and I fell pregnant our first time trying in August 2021 but that ended in a MMC at 10 weeks and here I am 13 months later, about to start IVF. What tests have you had so far? X

@monsteramunch Sorry you’re having a down day ☹️ we can all relate here so you’re not alone xx

monsteramunch · 02/01/2023 09:05

Thanks @Koalie

Horrible panic attack and only managed to fall asleep at 5am.

Really hoping it doesn't happen again tonight.

Sending love to everyone today Flowers

2021lady · 02/01/2023 09:45

I've entered tww now after first cycle with femara. Hoping we had enough sex but I'm questioning things
I guess I'll know in 2 weeks!
Really hope it works

TheBirdintheCave · 02/01/2023 09:58

@2021lady Good luck :)

Bluelightbaby · 02/01/2023 10:38

@Koalie we’ve had all the relevant blood tests, ultrasounds & seamen analysis

TinyDancer91 · 02/01/2023 11:17

Well, it's another BFN for me.... AF arrived this morning 😢

Netflixnchilli · 02/01/2023 11:52

Oh @TinyDancer91 I’m so sorry. Sending gentle hugs xxx

JSS15 · 02/01/2023 11:53

Fingers crossed for you @2021lady. Can I ask how you got femera prescribed? I’ve got a (general) gynaecology appointment next Monday and I’m not sure what to expect from it. I don’t know if they’ll just dismiss me or actually do something to help - my periods are irregular which is why I ask about your experience getting Femera. Tests came back saying I don’t have PCOS which is why GP referred me.

Sorry about your BFN and AF @TinyDancer91

And sorry about the panic attack @monsteramunch. I know it doesn’t help at all but your feelings are totally valid and probably shared by a lot of us here. I’ve found great comfort in listening to podcasts - I like BFN and Infertile AF. They cover lots of different scenarios with guests giving their personal “journies”. They’ve really helped me feel not so alone. Listening allows me to think about fertility but not catastrophise about my own situation… if that makes any sense at all!
