@Bluelightbaby OK so when you get to sub fertility it’ll be your HyCosy and a more details SA for your OH. Just keep ruling things out and hopefully something small will come up that can be easily fixed ♥️

Sorry to hear @TinyDancer91 !

One of my lovely friends said to me once ‘if you’re going through shit, keep going’

Sending everyone hugs. xxx

Bluelightbaby · 02/01/2023 12:21

@Koalie oh thank you ! We have an appt at the end of January and we wondered what would happen, so that’s very helpful thanks :)

Koalie · 02/01/2023 13:23

@Bluelightbaby That could be a consultation with sub fertility first who will then refer you for your HyCosy and AMH bloods and your OH for further SA. That’s the order it went for me x

JSS15 · 02/01/2023 11:53

Fingers crossed for you @2021lady. Can I ask how you got femera prescribed? I’ve got a (general) gynaecology appointment next Monday and I’m not sure what to expect from it. I don’t know if they’ll just dismiss me or actually do something to help - my periods are irregular which is why I ask about your experience getting Femera. Tests came back saying I don’t have PCOS which is why GP referred me.

Sorry about your BFN and AF @TinyDancer91

And sorry about the panic attack @monsteramunch. I know it doesn’t help at all but your feelings are totally valid and probably shared by a lot of us here. I’ve found great comfort in listening to podcasts - I like BFN and Infertile AF. They cover lots of different scenarios with guests giving their personal “journies”. They’ve really helped me feel not so alone. Listening allows me to think about fertility but not catastrophise about my own situation… if that makes any sense at all!

I actually paid for it privately as this will be my second child the NHS aren't really interested.
I have a blood test to confirm I ovulated but other than that they've kinda left me to it

Alittleknowledge · 02/01/2023 18:18

Hey all, happy new year. I’m having one of those days. This month marks a year since I lost my only pregnancy. TTC for over 18 months off and on now but for various reasons not eligible for an NHS check up for another couple of months. Anyone got any tips on staying positive and patient?

BakinABaby · 03/01/2023 08:10

@Koalie I love that saying! I have lived most my adult life by somthing similar, it always works out one way or another in the end, maybe not in the way I had hoped but sometimes even better. And if it doesn't, you gave it your best and there is some peace of mind in that.

@monsteramunch Oh lots of hugs to you!!

I did my bloods last week, hubby will have a SA next monday and then a consultation for us both on the 18th. I already picked through my results online, most of it was OK/normal, one analysis showed wayyy under norm and my ca125 was elevated, but after the initial cancer scare I dug some more, and it's probably not that (I sure hope so) but could be endo maybe, which is somethin I have considered possible😥. But anyway, my excitement for the appointment is more anxiousness now. I hope at least hubbys swimmers are on par.

monsteramunch · 03/01/2023 08:18

@JSS15

Thanks so much Flowers

I'm going to give those podcasts a go.

Gosh this is all so exhausting isn't it?

monsteramunch · 03/01/2023 08:19

@BakinABaby

Got everything crossed for you!!

I have my second bloods today then his swimmers are getting their test soon so sounds like we're at a similar stage.

Hi all, just catching up! I've fallen behind as I have been so busy the past week.

@Carla2601 so glad you are enjoying bubba 💗 also glad you are managing to get sleep! That must make a big difference.

@SaraSS I have also been full of cold/flu 😫 everyone I know seems to be ill at the minute!

@Koalie starting stims is exciting! Have you started now?

Welcome to anybody that is new 😊

We had our NHS consult this morning. It was a really weird appointment where the doctor couldn't really do or say much because we have already had all our tests. He took us to the nurses to book us in our appointment for the funding application where they will check eligibility criteria. This is booked for 20th Jan. Then he said this takes up to 3 weeks for funding to be approved but sometimes 24 hours and then we can start treatment within 3 months at the clinic we want (the one we was about to start private IVF with). So i think the appointment was just to get us in the system.

I'm a little bit in shock that the NHS route has moved so quickly. Everything private went so slowly and painful for us and now we've entered NHS it is going quicker.

Did anybody else have an appointment for the funding application to check eligibility? What should we expect? I'm a healthy BMI but DH has put on a bit of weight since his surgical sperm retrieval and his BMI is now 29 (eligibility is 30 or below for both of us). I'm just wondering whether they will weigh us?

OP posts:
Koalie · 04/01/2023 11:36

Hi @lemons44 ! :)
We didn’t have our BMI checked or anything, although I do remember having to put it down on the forms somewhere. Our clinic didn’t apply for funding before starting treatment, they said they deal with it all at a later stage. V exciting that it’s moving quickly for you though! It did for us too once we got the sub fertility clinic to actually pick up our referral.

I am 2 injections in now. I was having some left sided pain so asked them to do a scan for me to make sure I don’t have a cyst so I went for that this morning and it’s all fine (such a huge relief!) even saw some follicles growing already 🤭 Next scan is Monday so will keep you all updated!

xx

Koalie · 04/01/2023 11:37

Also, @lemons44 have you had your AMH? x

SaraSS · 04/01/2023 13:24

So exciting hearing about everyones progress.
I'm 1dpo today, third cycle following a Hycosy. Unfortunately we hadn't DTD much as I haven't been well, but still hoping we're in with a chance.
If this cycle doesn't work, I'll be chasing for the IVF referral.. I think I have my mind set on 2023 being the year of IVF for us.. which is a different direction as we always said we didn't want to go down that route, but now we just want to exhaust all avenues..

Quite a stressful TWW for me this time, I've got an exam next week which I've been studying towards for 6 months, so quite the distraction at least!!

NatW2021 · 04/01/2023 14:04

Hello Everyone

@Koalie - how exciting that you have started. Sounds like your clinic is really good that you don't have to apply for funding before treatment.

@lemons44 - amazing news that you can get started so soon! Least you have a plan now.

I am 13dpo and my temp is still 36.95 but i am full of cold so not hopeful i did a test at 9dpo and was BFN, had a few PMS symptoms so just want AF to show up on time so its over with for my birthday on Monday. I am 35 and just dreading this mile stone. I am trying to keep positive and focus on my health and weight loss for IVF this year,

Been looking at access fertility and cant decide to go for the 2 cycle (no refund package) or the 3 cycle 50% refund (its almost 4k more but you get an extra cycle plus a refund if it doesn't work. But it could work first cycle so i just dont know x

Koalie · 04/01/2023 14:09

Hi @NatW2021 :)
I have also been looking at the access packages in case our NHS rounds don’t work but had to put it on the back burner cause it’s so hard to know which one to choose, isn’t it? 🤯
Good to hear you’re back on the weight loss train in prep for IVF 💪🏼 do you have a goal? Any birthday plans? ☺️🎂

FlyOnTheWall89 · 04/01/2023 14:53

@lemons44 we had no further checks prior, except all the proof in terms of bloods and SA etc to show we were struggling. The funding application and the hospital did it for us and it came back very quickly. I know it's been a really stressful time for you guys so I totally understand.... maybe just gently say to your OH that this may all move really quickly now and you both need to be in the best shape you can be, mentally and physically. So pleased you're finding it smooth and straightforward. I had no complaints re NHS provision, I was really impressed.

@NatW2021 I guess the only thing I'd say is that if it works 1st time, you're unlikely to think too much about that refund because you'll be so excited and so happy. What do they deem as worked? What if for instance you had a MMC at 12 weeks etc? Do you then get to use your second go?

lemons44 · 04/01/2023 14:58

@Koalie I think that's so good the way your clinic starts before the funding. 2 injections in! Eeee so exciting! Glad you don't have any cysts and well done for pushing to have that checked as you know your body better than anyone.

@SaraSS I think it's good you are mentally preparing that this might be the year you start IVF. Then you are planning for the worst and if you do get a natural BFP then it will be a nice surprise! Good luck for your exam next week 🤞🏼 6 months is a long time to have had to study. It is good to have distractions though isn't it. When we had a really long wait for our surgical sperm retrieval I literally coped by just keeping so busy at work.

@NatW2021 It is hard with the access fertility packages.. I really struggled too. We liked the look of the 2 cycle 50% refund one and that's the one we started having a medical review for before our NHS appointment came through. I liked that you could at least get some money back to put towards a third cycle if needed. It is a gamble though!

Thank you all I do find it exciting but to be honest today I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed with it all too. I'm not too sure why.. perhaps im having a bit of a wobbly day! Doesn't help it's the first week back after Xmas .. im SO sleepy and can't even remember how to do my job. I miss the days of sofa lounging and Pringles and films!

Hiya have any of you used femara at all in your journey x

summerchild92 · 05/01/2023 17:48

@SaraSS good luck with your exam!! :) and also wish you all the best in your tww 😀 fx for a bfp!

@2021lady I started Femala last cycle … I have enough pills for six cycles. 😬 I’m also just a month after HyCosy, so keeping my fingers crossed for a good outcome.

Obviously meant Femara not Femala. 😂

lemons44 · 05/01/2023 19:18

Hi @FlyOnTheWall89 how are you doing? How far along are u now? Thank you - I'm hoping it will just be a case of checking we tick all the boxes. The doctor said to me that they only test we haven't had done is checking my tubes but I was like .. my husbands sperm will never ever travel up my tubes because it can only be surgical extracted so what's the point? 😵‍💫

Sorry @Koalie I missed your message on AMH. Yes I had this done in April and it was 14.3. What was yours? I know you said yours was low for your age. I'm sure it will be fine though and it drops down very slowly.

Fingers crossed for you @summerchild92 I know there's been a few past BFPs from ladies in the months after their hycosy so I'm hoping it works for you.

xx

@lemons44 @lemons44 - really hard, think i am leaning more towards 3 cycle 50% refund.

@Koalie - how many cycles do you get?

AF arrived today, a day earlier which NEVER happens. I am seeing it as a birthday blessing as i dont want to be on my period on my birthday as we are doing a spa break.

I contacted my GP earlier this to ask for repeat bloods as its been 12 months since they were last done, they never tested oestrogen or SHgb last time either so i am going tomorrow. Also asked them to test DHEA, i have read on it starts with the egg DHEA can be good to take so get tested first.

@lemons44 @Koalie - have you been advised to take this for IVF? x

FlyOnTheWall89 · 05/01/2023 19:46

@lemons44 I'm good thank you - nearly 34 weeks now which is crazy. Very much enjoying every moment of being pregnant, even the hard bits. Ye there is no point your tubes being done - that is standard I think as I'm sure @Carla2601 also skipped this step as they said it was pointless. I obvs did have it done and got pregnant the next month. X

Koalie · 05/01/2023 21:58

@lemons44 that’s a good AMH! Mine is 10.7 which worries me … my consultant looked at a chart he had and said that it’s average for a 40 year old and I’m only 32 ☹️ he also said it means I might not respond quite so well to the drugs but we shall see 🤷🏻‍♀️

@NatW2021 I get 3 NHS rounds but apparently for the 3rd one the clinic has to write some sort of letter. I’m not sure what it entails … just hoping it won’t get to that 🤞🏼so pleased to hear AF will be out of the way for your birthday ☺️ with regards to DHEA, as far as I’m aware, this only helps if you have some sort of hormone imbalance so if you take it when all your bloods are already fine then it can knock them out of whack. I was only recommended folic acid, vit d and COQ10 but I’m taking impryl instead of COQ10 and then adding fish oil too x

@FlyOnTheWall89 gosh that seems to have flown by! So pleased you’re making the most of it 🥰 x

monsteramunch · 05/01/2023 22:10

@Koalie @lemons44

Really hope you've both had an OK few days?

I noticed you mentioned your AMH results - I've now had my day 3 and day 21 bloods and am waiting for the results.

Is this one of the things that is usually tested in that set of bloods?

I know I should know that already and research it but I'm trying to avoid playing Dr Google as I spiral and get stuck in anxiety loops about it all!

So just thought I'd ask, no worries if you don't have a chance Flowers

Carla2601 · 05/01/2023 22:13

@FlyOnTheWall89 @lemons44 thats right I also asked what the point would be and they agreed pointless so I’d push back if they try and make you have it as you can’t go that route so it’s just another intrusive step you can avoid
