Preparing to TTC in 2023

Hi,

I'm part of a lovely thread which was started in 2021 for those planning to start TTC in 2022 and it was such a supportive group! we've now seen lots of positives and given each other a lot of support and tips through ups and downs.

I'm now 'pausing' TTC until after my wedding in 2023 and thought it'd be nice to start up a similar thread to see if there is anyone else now prepping and getting excited for next year!

On the last thread everyone introduced themself by saying their age, what they're trying for and when they plan on starting - I'll then keep a list up to date and post so everyone can easily see others who are at the same stage as them!

I'll go first:

Age: 27
TTC no: 1
Starting: Sep 23

Between now and then I'm going to be taking folic acid, try and loose some lbs to get closer to a healthy BMI, save some money in a baby pot and enjoy some 'baby free' activities (i.e., wine, gin, sushi and surfing!). I have endometriosis and PCOS so going to try and get my periods more regular and pain management via diet.

@happyfeet5 Together for 18 years and married for over 5. Time definitely flies! 😅

LeopardLover · 05/01/2023 09:02

@123ROLO Oh I love cassava haha! No harm in eating them if you like the foods anyway I guess 🤣

ShelleyPercy · 05/01/2023 09:11

I've been with my partner for almost 2 years, we've been engaged for 6 months and getting married in July. Feels like we've been together forever though, doesn't feel quick. I think its odd when people put arbitrary numbers/barriers in place for big life changes. Each individual and situation is unique!

Chooba · 05/01/2023 09:53

We've been together for 3.5 years.

I kept telling myself I'd try and be relaxed about TTC but I'm so not! Ordered a thermometer yesterday for BBT monitoring. Part of my problem is that I had a mirena coil for ages so I have no idea about what my cycle really is, and I'm feeling the pressure of being 36 and wondering if I've left it too late (although it wasn't really much of an option before!!).

LisaJor22 · 05/01/2023 10:45

Girls I think my AF is coming 😭 so so moody last 2 days and had some pinkish can’t even say blood just smears on toilet paper this morn. Checked my cervix and browny/pinky tinge through discharge. I’m gutted. Got the mirena coil out thinking I’d go back to normal cycles pretty quick as there’s very little hormones and my cycles are so short now like 24 days, today is only day 23 and it’s starting alteady, they’re not like my normal 29/30 I had before the coil x

Hi chooba. I too had the coil got it out 18th Nov had a light bleed 20th-24th.
AF came 14th Dec so I thought I’d be able to go off that. Positive OPK 28th Dec we DTD most days anyway still in the ‘honeymoon period’ 😂 but I feel today like AF is on its way like I said in my post above. Im
gutted, my cycles are so short now.

Notyetamother · 05/01/2023 10:48

@LisaJor22 oh I'm sorry, it's so disappointing isn't it. Chin up girl. Xx

@Chooba I pretend to my other half that I'm cool and calm about it, because I said I would be too, but I'm totally not either. But honestly this is having a baby, not buying a pair of shoes, nothing to stay calm about 😂

LeopardLover · 05/01/2023 12:19

@Chooba I know what you mean about pretending to be chill 🤣 BBT is actually a great indicator of ovulation and early pregnancy. I wasn't going to do it this time but probably will.

You are still young! I know of plenty women who have had healthy babies into their mid 40s. There's a lot of scaremongering on this forum - once you hit 35 your eggs turn to dust. 🙈 Everyone is different, younger women sometimes struggle with TTC too, it's so individual. It might take a bit longer as we age but there are often still plenty of chances and it's all about giving yourself the best shot! ❤️X

babybrainfart · 05/01/2023 12:44

Thanks for the well wishes. I conceived the first month, but we thought we had missed the boat and if it didn't happen we were going to wait until February so I could get Christmas and holiday out the way. My energy levels were very low and I did feel nauseas and gag lots. It peaked around 9 weeks when I finished work for Christmas and has eased the last few days now I'm 12 weeks. The Christmas break couldn't of come at a better time and even though I did feel rotten I still was able to enjoy the time with the kids. My two children are extremely excited :) I did have bleeding from 6 weeks on and off until last week, which was never loads, but enough to cause worry.

DanisEndo · 05/01/2023 13:42

@happyfeet5 together 9 years, planning to TTC in September when it’ll be 10 (snap!!@123ROLO ) we’re getting married on our 10 year anniversary and starting TTC on our mini-moon whichll be magic!

@babybrainfart sooooo happy for you! Keep the updates coming! Xxx

So im on cycle day 10, not supposed to ovulate for another 6 days but am definitely quite slippery (sorry for the tmi) today. I'm hardly ovulating am I? Strip test says I'm not.

LeopardLover · 05/01/2023 20:58

@babybrainfart So pleased for and it's really sweet your children are so excited! Hopefully you'll breeze through the next trimester. Bleeding must've been a bit scary though! X

@Ella31 Hmmm, tricky! Is it definitely egg white or just CM?

@LisaJor22 Awww,is there a chance that's an implantation bleed? Xx

Summer022 · 05/01/2023 21:26

Hi ladies, I am feeling a bit deflated, I know some people show no symptoms at all but I am now 7dpo and feel absolutely no different so am already guessing this hasn’t been my month. This is my first cycle so still getting used to everything but feeling so worried I won’t be able to conceive. 😥 I want to try and relax but it’s so hard and when it doesn’t happen, it makes you have so many questions!!

I'd say CM more than egg white.

Mushroo · 05/01/2023 22:35

@Summer022 you never know until AF arrives! It’s pretty common to get no symptoms, as in the TWW any symptoms are caused by raised progesterone, but progesterone raises anyway before your period.

Another thing which I think is comforting (I saw it either on this thread or another one) was that each cycle is like rolling a dice and hoping for a six. Not rolling a six doesn’t mean anything is wrong, just unlucky. Even if everything is healthy, some people just take longer to roll the six.

Ella31 · 05/01/2023 23:56

Ladies, it's so strange. I've a load of watery/slippy cm at the mo. Period ended only 6 days ago but since my mc 4 months ago, this is the first time I've had any noticeable cm. I've been taking a prenatal supplement since last week and vitamin c. Maybe this is the effects or can it bring forward ovulation? I just feel like I am even though tests are negative. Sorry now for the rant. Its probably all in my head

Bimbley · 06/01/2023 01:08

Can I join?

32 and just starting TTC #2 this month

Not tracking ovulation or anything yet, just DTD regularly and seeing how it goes. Did the same when trying for DS and conceived about 5 months after stopping the pill so fingers crossed!

Hopingforno2in2023 · 06/01/2023 07:41

7dpo is still so early summer and not conceiving first month does not indicate anything wrong. It took me 4 cycles for DS and at the time I was in my mid twenties and the shape of my life. Went on to have an easy pregnancy and a bouncing baby boy :)

Almondbut · 06/01/2023 09:12

Hello @Ella31 - I had this too this month. I got EWCM really early afternmy
period and it feels like it hasn’t completely dried up?
Also had spotting (?ovulation spotting? But ?too late this cycle? - which I’ve also never had before) CD18 and CD19, and pain (?ovulation pain but too late??- feels almost like period pain but way too early) CD13 to CD19. Also had night sweats every night (which I sometimes get before AF) since CD18.

Im now CD21. Haven’t got a clue when I ovulated due to the above. Cycles normally around 30 days. don’t know if I’m in 2ww?? Guess I will keep waiting until AF appears?

Almondbut · 06/01/2023 09:16

Looking at it written out - I’m guessing I’ve just ovulated late this cycle? Who knows. Never had this mid cycle bleeding/spotting before.
why does your body mess you around as soon as you start TTC 😆🤯

Could it have been implantation bleeding?

Almondbut · 06/01/2023 10:56

@Firsttimetrying2022 i think it may all be a bit early for it to be implantation bleeding (although I wish it was!!!). Unless I ovulated reallllly early this cycle? I don’t know. This is all so confusing!!!
I’ll keep you all updated.

TrudyProud · 06/01/2023 11:10

@happyfeet5 it was amazing. Honestly couldn't believe how fortunate we were. Plus DTD TCC was fun as were in the excitement of just getting married.

DH kept saying how great it was not worrying about the risk of contraception failing 🤣

@Notyetamother I agree. I had a friend with her partner a decade - had a puppy, jointly owned a house etc. They were Got separated within 5 months of marrying. Have another friend who was married within 1 year of meeting (she's English he's American met on our uni year abroad) we were 22 and thought she'd lost her mind. They are still happily married with 2 kids now. There's no right amount of time

TrudyProud · 06/01/2023 11:35

@123ROLO it's true. Nigeria has one of the largest frequency of twins and yam /cassava is a dietary staple!

@Summer022 not over till AF! With DD I felt so many symptoms but it felt like my friends periods always felt (I'm one of God's favourite- never get period symptoms/pain, 3 day light bleed, like clockwork). Because of this I thought I was starting my period. I remember being in the pub and checking my knickers religiously. 2 days later on the day AF was due but hadn't arrived I got my BFP

supernova1234 · 06/01/2023 11:54

Hi everyone,

firsr cycle TTC here.

I'm on cd 14 now and have used the Internet cheapies for a couple of days. They all have been negative with the test line fainter than the control line. Yesterday I used a clearblue advanced ovulation test out of a new, unopened package and it went straight away to a solid smiley. The Internet cheapie I used in conjunction with that was negative again. It wasn't even FMU, so I am confused.

I've had a bit of EWCM for a few days, but then that stopped more or less 2 days ago.

The lack of EWCM could be my age, I will be 36 in February.

I had bit of a poking pain on the side of my left ovary yesterday, which could be sign of ovulation, but not sure.

I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 10 month old.

With the 10 month old I used Clearbue Advanced Ovulation Tests. It never ever went straight to a solid smiley, especially not if it was a brand new package.

How is this possible? Thanks for any advice and lots of baby dust to everyone xx
