Hiya! I would love someone to chat with about all of this. First month last month and already overthinking everything 🤣

LMTx · 31/10/2022 13:08

Hi I am def up for a chat. Month 6 here of ttc my first and although it’s not long in the grand scheme of things it feels all consuming. I knew it can take up to a year but just didn’t really think about it and get so disappointed every month!

Sierra26 · 31/10/2022 15:00

Hi! I’m new here… 34yo, got married last month and honeymoon next month, and will be actively TTC (for first time ever) after that. This month in between we’ve been leaving things up to nature. In hindsight would prefer not to be preggo on my honeymoon but I’m already wondering if there’s a chance I might be!

If we don’t have any luck in first proper month of trying (eg just using dates to track fertile period) I thought I’d use the temperature method to track ovulation but I find the natural cycles thermometer really hard to use (the beep is annoying, switches off before I’ve recorded, gives different temp each time). Is anyone else trying that?

Next fertile window is looking to fall during honeymoon week anyway so hopefully exact ovulation date wont matter too much :D

LMTx · 31/10/2022 15:10

Congrats on your wedding @Sierra26 i haven’t tracked temperatures I’ve been using the clear blue digital opks. I came off pill at beginning of year after 8 years on the pill so I wasn’t sure about my cycles at all. The opks seem to be matching close enough to my flo app and is consistent with CM and other ovulation symptoms.
Might need to look into temping as this doesn’t seem to be enough. Currently 8dpo trying to hold off another day or 2 before I start testing. Symptom spotting as usual but I do this every month and end up with negative tests. Fingers crossed this month is my month!

ChateauProvence · 31/10/2022 15:20

I would like to join please….3rd cycle for us - I am 4 days late with 4 BFN! Don’t know what to think have been having 29 days cycles am now on day 34 - have had cramping and nausea….. just want AF to come now so can get on with the next cycle - is anyone finding this more stressful then they thought they would?

Sierra26 · 31/10/2022 15:30

Thankyou :)

Sounds like you know your window, my uninformed guess would be that OPK is more accurate/reliable than temperature method, so as long as you’re DTD regularly through that period you’re already doing the right thing! Hope you get a positive outcome soon x

Sooo much more stressful than I thought! I came off the pill in June and we were not very careful for a few months but weren't actively trying. Last month was first proper month trying and I had a full on meltdown when AF arrived.

ChateauProvence · 31/10/2022 16:10

@Beepops22 I was the same! And I thought I’d be sooo chilled out about it. Even after all these negative tests I’m still clinging on to the fact that AF hasn’t come yet so I could be pregnant- ridiculous! Hopefully we will all be blessed soon - not sure I can take this for a long period of time

LMTx · 31/10/2022 16:18

@ChateauProvence so stressful and feel like my other half just doesn’t understand the emotional weight of it all. It’s a rollercoaster every month you go from excitement to time going so slow in 2ww to just wanting AF to hurry up and come in last couple of days if you haven’t got a positive! How many dpo are you? Depending on type of pregnancy test you are using may not be picking anything up yet!

ChateauProvence · 31/10/2022 16:53

@LMTx I totally agree my OH doesn’t get it all! Even said the other day ‘well it’ll probably never happen for us’ I literally wanted to cry - he can be so insensitive!! According to my Flo app I should be 16dpo - all my ovulation tests have come back negative so I have been to the doctor and need to have a blood test to check I am ovulating but can’t book that in until AF starts as needs to be on day 21 of my cycle

doctor did say that I could just be missing the ovulation on the tests as my periods have been regular until now but she said let’s just check - I really didn’t think it would be this hard I spent my whole 20a trying not to get pregnant - I could probably have been a bit more careless and have been fine the way it’s going!!

do you think you’ll hold off testing for another few days?

Beepops22 · 31/10/2022 17:58

@LMTx my OH is the same, he thinks I've gone bonkers

@ChateauProvence you do hear of people on here not getting a BFP for ages after AF due. Could your doctor not do a blood test to confirm? Maybe you ovulated later than normal? I don't know how the opks work sorry, they confuse me sorry.

I have just ordered some conceive plus vitamins to try and regulate my cycle and symptoms, figured they couldn't do any harm 🤷

LMTx · 31/10/2022 18:11

@Beepops22 at least we can chat on here and let the husbands think we are somewhat sane lol. Are your cycles regular? The only reason I started the opks was as my cycles were not regular from coming off the pill so I was able to try and see if there was any sort of regularity in the beginning.
@ChateauProvence i was the same always trying not to get pregnant when in reality I didn’t realise how hard it could be to conceive!! If I can hold out to Wednesday I will start doing frer tests but even then that’s very early, I just like to know- AF isn’t due to Sat so I’ve a long week ahead of testing, being deflated then psyching myself back up to take another for the same thing to happen again 🙈

ChateauProvence · 31/10/2022 20:23

@Beepops22 they confuse me as well! 😂

@LMTx I would try and hold off for as long as you can if becomes too disheartening other wise

I really wish I’d known how hard it was going to be I would have started much earlier

Beepops22 · 31/10/2022 23:20

@LMTx my cycles have been fairly regular 30/31 days up until last month (first month of TTC) when it was suddenly 27 🙄
I have had scan and blood tests done earlier this year due to issues I was having with my contraceptive pill before stopping it.

@ChateauProvence fingers crossed you get a double line this week. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

How long have you both been trying if you don't mind me asking?

ChateauProvence · 01/11/2022 06:41

@Beepops22 i came off the pill I. June but have been actively trying since august - I know it’s not very long but I just didn’t think I’d find it so stressful. Still no AF this morning

Beepops22 · 01/11/2022 07:55

@ChateauProvence same as me, I stopped at the end of June.
No AF is a good sign! How many dpo are you now

ChateauProvence · 01/11/2022 08:17

According to the app 23 dpo but obviously it might not be accurate- I feel like it will be more likely linked to my endometriosis than being pregnant but I do have terrible back ache this morning 🤷🏼‍♀️. I’m going to try and not test again until Sunday and then I have a doctors appointment to look into the endo Monday anyway …..

LMTx · 01/11/2022 08:26

@Beepops22 Trying since May. Really thought it would have happened by now - wish I had of been on mumsnet this time last year and I’d have maybe started trying a bit earlier.
@ChateauProvence fingers crossed you get some answers soon!

Have any of you any tips on how to keep your mind off it all. When I’m in work I’m fine but once I get home it’s all consuming again, and I am off this week so feel like I’ve a longgg week ahead 🙈

ChateauProvence · 01/11/2022 08:35

@LMTx sorry no tips from me I feel consumed by it all! Before I started I really thought I was going to be relaxed and taking a ‘what will be, will be’ approach 😂just try and keep yourself busy this week - fingers crossed for you x

Beepops22 · 01/11/2022 09:37

@Sierra26 congrats on your wedding! Hope you have a fabulous honeymoon

@LMTx I am only ever distracted when I'm at work or out and about keeping myself busy. Walking the dogs helps or watching something on TV that means I have to pay attention nothing too trashy haha.
When are you holding out until to test again? I forced myself to wait until AF was due last month and she showed up 3 days early so at least that saved me a test.

@ChateauProvence how frustrating at least you have a go appointment. Hopefully your test on Sunday will be a BFP 😊

I'm only just coming up to my O day so I'm in for a long wait. Baby dust to everyone ✨

LMTx · 01/11/2022 14:58

@Beepops22 i got too excited and tested today. There is something very small there when you squint, whether it’s an indent or not I’m not sure. But def more than I’ve ever seen on a test 🙈 but honestly the thought a couple of hours later thinking shall I do another. It’s gonna be a longggg 2 days. Plan on testing again and if nothing darker by Wednesday then it was prob just an indent! I feel sick even talking about it incase it’s all in my head.

Make sure you plan some fun activities for your 2ww to try and keep yourself occupied.

PurBal · 01/11/2022 15:19

@Sierra26 EWCM is great if you’re not actively trying but want to keep tabs. I find tracking BBT very satisfying. I suppose for me personally I use OPKs to “double check” rather than as a primary method but my cycles are regular too.

Beepops22 · 01/11/2022 15:27

@LMTx eek! Keep us updated! Maybe try first morning wee? I'm a bad influence I know but it's exciting!

@PurBal how do you stop yourself obsessing when doing BBT or OPK? I'm bad enough with checking my app constantly and comparing this month to last etc.

lucya66 · 01/11/2022 19:10

Hello :) I’m TTC for my first time. I’m 30.

Using Flo app and BBT to track ovulation. I am taking folic acid and eating healthily. I’m excited and trying to be patient.

I ovulate in a couple of days, according to the app. Like you, @ChateauProvence i am trying to be relaxed about it but I find myself researching so much.

it’s only my first cycle TTC so I’m hopeful but realise I must be patient.

ChateauProvence · 01/11/2022 19:15

@lucya66 wishing you all the best and lots of baby dust but if you can try and stay relaxed it will be better for you (easier said than done!)

I’ve had cramping all day but still no AF

@LMTx eeeek fingers crossed this is your month
