Anyone had BFNs and waiting for AF

AF due today, I tested on Sat/Sun (10&11dpo) and got BFN so quite certain I’m out but just want AF to arrive now so I can move on to the next cycle.

I’m foolishly retaining a bit of hope that I could still be pregnant and just tested a bit early. Symptom spotting a lot and noticed a few things which are probably just signs that AF is imminent..just want it to turn up now so I can stop getting my hopes up.

Anyone else at this stage?

tested Saturday and was BFN so just a waiting game. I didn’t use any OPK just going off apps which I think is giving me a bit of false hope.

i didn’t really ‘try’ for DC1 in the sense of knowing my cycle / OPK just wasn’t careful as normal so stupidly hoping it’s the same this time.

@Fran919 I'm sorry you're in the same boat. Do you have any other tests in your house? I've none in now which is probably a good thing as I would have been tempted to test again and don't want the disappointment of another BFN. However as the day is going by and no AF yet I'm getting my hopes up which is possibly worse?

I didn't use OPK either, just did BBT temping but stopped straight after ovulation so I didn't obsess too much in the 2 week wait!

I got lucky with my DD (age 4) and only tried for 2 cycles before it happened. I assumed it would be as easy this time but I'm on Cycle 3 now (I appreciate that is still very early days so not feeling too sorry for myself).

Do you know when your AF should arrive? It is meant to be today for me and no sign yet, but my cycles aren't too regular yet with just stopping the pill in May.

Hi, i’m in exactly same boat. I have a regular 26 day cycle. AF due today. Ovulated 13/14 days ago. Two days ago I felt exhausted - never felt so tired but been fine since in terms of energy levels.

this morning I had light cramping as normal when I woke up - usual on AF day one for me but when I wiped it was very very faint pink. Usually my period comes on heavy straight away but nothing all day. I have very light cramping for most of the day. Took a test at lunchtime(boots own brand) and BFN

no sign of any more pink even I wipe.

trying not to get my hopes up but it’s hard.

@Norfolk1983 I had a bit of cramping today too and fully expected AF to show up like usual when the cramping starts but nothing. Very confusing isn’t it, I was doing so well at keeping my expectations in check and now I’m getting my hopes up again and entertaining the idea I could still be pregnant..
I’m sorry about your BFN. That is very odd that you’ve had that bit of pink but nothing else, especially since your AF usually comes on heavy straight away. I really hope it’s a positive sign for you.
I’ve still not got AF but could be that my cycle is just a day out this month. If I get to this time tomorrow with no AF I’ll seriously be getting my hopes up which is a dangerous game..

I will keep my fingers crossed for you. It is so keeping expectations in check. I’m 39 and trying TTC my first. It’s our 4th week trying. Hard not to get disappointed especially when feel time is running our age wise potentially,

@vitahelp nope no tests in and I think it’s good too! I’m due tomorrow, but i always normally spot for a day or two beforehand which hasn’t happened. Got a few cramps but that’s normal and I had that with my DD who is 1.

@Norfolk1983 with my first I had pink spotting for a few days and when my period didn’t start properly I did a test, it was so faint but positive and I think that was technically 4 days late! Are you tracking ovulation?

Yes, I had my peak about 14 days ago :)

I tested today at 9DPO and BFN. This is our first cycle trying for our first baby, following a loss in June. Trying not to put too much pressure on it but obviously down to see a negative! Still time before AF (due on Saturday) but not really feeling anything other than PMS symptoms!

I keep seeing that it's not over until AF arrives x

Still no AF here, getting far too excited about it considering I’m only 3 months off the pill and my cycles have gone a day longer each month, so it would actually be about right if AF didn’t show up until tomorrow. However the hope is still there! Very bloated tonight but doesn’t really mean much.

@Norfolk1983 Yes keep us updated, I’m mid 30s now and it makes me anxious too.

@Fran919 I think I would have ended up doing a test tonight if I had any in, so quite glad I’ve not got any!

@NalaNana I’m sorry about your loss and also the BFN today. It could change yet though, I only got a faint positive at 11dpo with my daughter.

@Norfolk1983 I’m sorry to hear that, although at least now you can move on to the next cycle and not overthink for a while.

Still no AF for me, but any pregnant type symptoms I noticed before have gone so I think it is just a matter of time now and getting frustrated waiting as it means longer before I can try again.

Tested this morning (10DPO) with FMU and negative. The only symptoms I have are usual PMS symptoms really so not feeling hopeful! I'll wait to test again until Friday morning as I'm supposed to be drinking on Friday night - if still negative I just hope AF comes on time so I can start my new cycle!

@vitahelp have you tested again or just waiting for AF now?

@NalaNana Sorry about your BFN. My AF didn’t show today so did a test when I got home from work and was BFN. I’m probably 14dpo now so it would be positive by now. I know you’re meant to test with FMU ideally but surely at 14dpo it would be positive regardless of the time of day?!

I’m getting frustrated now at AF being late as it’s really got my hopes up this week and also means longer to wait before the next fertile window. Feel pretty fed up today..

Please help , Yesterday morning I took a clear blue pregnancy test and the control line didn’t show within 2/5 minutes so I but it on the side and went back to bed I then work up and it was a positive but control line faint. The night before this I done a test and it was negative dont tests today and negative. Iv also had spotting around the 14th August

I am in exactly this position! So frustrating. According to the app I was due on yesterday. No sign of period yet but had the tiniest bit of pink spotting just now - unusual for me.

On top of that, I feel awful! Headache, nausea, light cramps and I am absolutely exhausted. I just need AF to show up so I can move on!

@Confusedtothemax I think you are only supposed to read the test within the allocated time, it sounds like the test might have been faulty if the control line didn't appear. Test again in a day or two with FMU? I've also heard that pink dye tests are more reliable.

@Confusedtothemax I've not used these tests before but if the control line didn't do as expected I would do a new test. I really hope it is positive for you!

@Chanteuse I'm sorry you're in the same situation. I'm very much ready to move on to the next cycle too, but still no sign of AF. That's even harder if you've got loads of symptoms as it makes you overthink. I've thankfully not got any symptoms now but just bored of waiting for AF and impatient to try again next cycle.

@vitahelp ah I wonder why it's late, are your periods like clockwork or can they be irregular?

I'm alright, no pregnancy symptoms just stuff I would ordinarily associate with pms. My first pregnancy in May felt very obvious to me - I'd never been pregnant before but knew something very different was going on! I haven't felt like that at all this time. Still planning to test tomorrow which will be 12DPO x

My cycle was 37 days and my period came 21 days after my static smiley on clear blue OPK. I’m thinking maybe I have PCOS as I’ve always had very irregular and longish cycles, my mum has PCOS and I’m not sure I could have ovulated, to get such a long time from predicted ovulation to period.

Hey everyone I'm 2 days late for AF, cycle day 31 and it's never been this late before!

My cycles are usually 24/25 but I can occasionally get the odd 28-29 day cycle.

Had one faint vvfl yesterday on a cheapy but BFN this morning on a FRER :(

@Babbydust sorry to hear that. I'd have thought you would be seeing quite strong lines at this point. Have you spoken to a doctor? Could it have been a chemical?

@graceinc22 have you tried tracking your basal body temperature? I haven't started yet, but the temperature changes can indicate ovulation after it's happened. It's not great for predicting ovulation before it happens or your fertile period, but can let you know if you ovulated or not. I'm going to try it next cycle with an app that will chart it for me (alongside OPKs).

@butterflyxo do you have any symptoms? Maybe you drank more last night so the urine was more diluted this morning? I'd test again in a day or so if still no AF. Wishing you luck x
