@Tillybabs so sorry that your lining didn't do what it was meant to. that's so frustrating - especially when your embryos are just waiting for you!! really hoping that they can sort it out for your next attempt without aggravating the adenomyosis.

thislittlebird · 04/09/2022 11:16

@99pctpractice I think we all have similar thoughts. I delayed because I was doing a degree and working part time. Then delayed because I didn't want to be that woman who's pregnant as soon as she joins. Oh, what I'd give to be that woman now.

Adoption is really hard and I think you're making the right choice to have a think and a bit of a break.

Tbh I had to stop listening to BFN. As soon as they both had kids it lost its appeal for me, and now you've said one has another BFP and I'll assume the tone is intentional because they had complaints from people (miserable infertile people like me, not that I was one of the complainants ). They don't understand what it's like for people who haven't had first or second time success with IVF. All of the three women on the show succeeded first or second time, and I don't know what the current series is like but the only woman on there I found remotely relatable after a while was the Welsh lady and her partner, I think they may have succeeded eventually too. I listened to FTOL because it's got a couple who failed repeatedly and are still going through it all, but you're right, none of this may be what you need right now.

@Tillybabs so you are transferring both? That will be good at least, when you do get there. Fingers crossed for this month's lining.

@99pctpractice thanks hun. The Dr asked me if I considered surrogacy and that really killed it for me ( we won't consider that). I did however ask her if she has seen women with my uterus have babies and she said yes! I'm going to throw everything at it so no gluten, eat really well, cut out the intense workouts etc and see how it goes 🙏🏽

Definitely don't rule out adoption but give yourself some time x

Tillybabs · 04/09/2022 11:31

@thislittlebird they've given us the option of 1 or 2 to transfer and I think we might stick with 1 as research shows 1 is best

99pctpractice · 04/09/2022 13:06

@thislittlebird oh my word - exactly that. i didn't want to be "that woman". ffs!

thislittlebird · 04/09/2022 16:12

@99pctpractice We all need to be that woman now!

I've got vitamin deficiency tests this week, swabs for thrush (because I get it frequently), and hopefully results of my microbiome test. Then I've got a scan Wednesday. It's a busy week for hospital trips and tests!

99pctpractice · 04/09/2022 19:12

@thislittlebird that's great that you're getting so many things investigated. Really hope this means you catch what the issue is!!!

thislittlebird · 04/09/2022 20:01

@99pctpractice I'm fairly sure it will reveal nothing at all, but at least I feel like I'm ticking some boxes. It feels like going through the motions really, which I'm sure you're familiar with the feeling of.

Hey everyone!
I only just realised we had a new thread today,
I'm so sorry about your lining @Tillybabs - you poor thing. @Beyondshit @99pctpractice really sorry things haven't gone your way.
This whole process sucks.
@thislittlebird how come you got a microbiome test?

Mini update from me:

Just had my husbands follow up consultation with Dr Ramsay yesterday. He has no other issues that came up in his tests (hormones, infections etc). It's just his high DNA frag which Dr Ramsay believes is caused by a very large varicocele.
Next step is to get his embolisation booked in (hopefully in the next 3 weeks). We should see results after 3 months, but optimum results by about 6-9 months. He believes it will improve my husbands parameters by 80% & we should be able to conceive naturally and bring a baby to term, but we can try IVF/ICSI (we have NHS funding) about 3 months after the surgery if we wanted and hopefully get a good outcome. He said he'd be surprised if we hadn't conceived in 6 months 🥹.
It’s the most positive outcome we could have expected from this consultation, so I’m feeling really hopeful this week 🙏🏻

Also, our baby gets a funeral on Monday in the crematorium 💔

Tillybabs · 06/09/2022 17:28

@JeanieJ that's really good news. Do you think you will try naturally before trying IVF again?

I hope all goes as well as it can do on Monday xx

JeanieJ · 06/09/2022 18:18

@Tillybabs well, if we get booked in by end of the month, that brings me up to December for a 3 month rate & I doubt my clinic will book me in then. So I'll try yes & go for a cycle in Jan/Feb I suppose

JeanieJ · 06/09/2022 18:19

Sorry, cut that short!
I feel like I should make the most of the funding, but I'm really hoping we just conceive naturally! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

99pctpractice · 06/09/2022 19:26

@JeanieJ that's brilliant news! hope that the embolisation all goes well and you're booked in soon and fingers crossed you are then able to get pregnant naturally!!

Kay00 · 06/09/2022 23:04

Thinking of you both for Monday @JeanieJ xx

Great news from the doctor though!! 🤞

JeanieJ · 07/09/2022 07:44

Thank you 🙏🏻
I don't want to sound naive about the whole thing. I'm well aware we might be walking into a cycle in about 4 months, but at least we'll know that the semen quality is better 🤞🏻🤞🏻
xx

thislittlebird · 07/09/2022 10:31

@JeanieJ great news! I’m sure Mr Ramsay is right and you have a good chance naturally. Best wishes for Monday x

I got the microbiome test because I have a lot of issues with thrush and immune conditions like eczema which are definitely linked to microbiome/flora/fauna too so thought getting the test would be a good shout for me. Still awaiting the results.

I’ve had my first scan for transfer of embryos 3 &4. Back in on Friday. Am officially transferring two, have written it on the consent forms. Fairly sure it won’t work anyway so 🤷‍♀️

OP posts:
JeanieJ · 07/09/2022 21:41

Thank you @thislittlebird interesting about that test ... I've never heard of it.
Good luck this week with everything 🤞🏻
Do you know when the transfer would be?

My husbands now booked in for exactly 2 weeks time 😌 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Kay00 · 07/09/2022 21:56

@thislittlebird the more tests you have, the better an understanding of your body you will have. Hopefully you get some answers xx exciting that you will be implanting two!

My IVF meds are delivered tomorrow and I start Norethisterone on Friday. So I'm on track to have my egg collection in early Oct... not long now!

thislittlebird · 08/09/2022 10:27

@Kay00 yeah it’s just all so expensive. Hard to know how many tests to do and what to focus on.

That’ll fly round and you’ll be past the EC before you know it!

I got my results from the microbiome test today. I have some abnormalities, too much of some things I shouldn’t have and too little of some things I need. I also have too much streptococcus and staphylococcus which is interesting because I definitely have had an underlying skin infection for a long time now, since around oct 2019 when we started trying. It was really bad and then a dermatologist got it under control. but even now when my eczema is treated and under control, it always comes back with what look like slightly infected spots.

OP posts:
Tinkerbell098 · 10/09/2022 09:40

@thislittlebird interesting about your results. Hope you can discuss it with your clinic to see if there is any impact to fertility and what they can do about it.

@Kay00 glad you’ve started now. Not long to go X

I rang up the clinic yesterday as it was my day 1 and they’ve booked me in for a scan on Monday morning.

thislittlebird · 10/09/2022 09:53

@Tinkerbell098 I’m on antibiotics right now anyway and will take probiotics during and after them, hopefully it helps a bit.

Glad your scan is scheduled! I am on day 13, had a second scan yesterday where I had a 17mm follicle and lining was fine so am expecting ovulation. they’ll schedule my transfer once i have a positive opk.

OP posts:
Kay00 · 11/09/2022 22:10

@Tinkerbell098 good luck with your baseline scan tomorrow!!

@thislittlebird very interesting results!! I wonder how many of us ladies who struggle TTC have in imbalanced microbiome? Did they give any tips on how to improve things? Exciting that your FET is just around the corner xx

thislittlebird · 11/09/2022 23:34

@Kay00 yeah it’s very interesting. There is some research saying it can cause implantation failure and miscarriage, and with all my bouts of thrush and ongoing skin issues I decided it was a good test for me. Link here: mefj.springeropen.com/articles/10.1186/s43043-020-00050-3

Also stuff like this, which I saw yesterday:
www.newscientist.com/article/2337061-rheumatoid-arthritis-could-be-treated-by-eating-probiotic-bacteria/

There’s a lot of things they could help, according to microbiome research. I find it fascinating.

I’ve attached the summary of the report so you can see what they say. They give recommendations and then ladies on another thread said I can take it to my GP and ask for the stuff. I happen to be on antibiotics right now for my skin, so I’m going to see if I can get some other things in the report to use after.

@Tinkerbell098 good luck tomorrow!

I’m still waiting for my LH surge. My follicle must be huge by now :/ hopefully it’s soon.

@Kay00 @thislittlebird Thanks girls just in the waiting room now. Will report back. Really hope everything is ok for me to start stimming.

99pctpractice · 12/09/2022 11:16

Good luck @Tinkerbell098 really hoping everything is on track for you!!

@Kay00 great that you're on the way!! I hope it all goes smoothly for you 🤞

@thislittlebird so interesting. The microbiome seems to play into so many immune conditions. Hopefully you'll be able to use the results to get a positive outcome this time!!!
