@Kay00 yeah, we had a 9,5 week scan and that was weird because it makes it real and it doesn’t feel real.

Very lucky, I can’t really believe how the luck and lack of luck works in this game.

Told a friend and a few work people, not told any family. We want to make sure all is ok and don’t need pressure from them if it isn’t. My only worry is how slow the results will be coming back and I want to do NIPT but worried the NHS won’t offer to pay for it.

OP posts:
thislittlebird · 10/11/2023 09:28

I mean they won’t offer me it, and I’ll end up getting it privately for reassurance. It’s so expensive and we’ve spent so much as it is on ivf.

Kay00 · 10/11/2023 10:10

They should offer a NIPT if they spot any anomaly on the scan, if you get any blood results that raise concerns etc. I had some dodgy blood results (plus my age as a risk factor) and was offered NIPT, I took it and the results came back fine 🩷.

The only difference is the NHS NIPT won't give you the baby sex.

Hopefully all your results come back fine xx

thislittlebird · 15/11/2023 18:21

@Kay00 thanks. Yeah I’ll see what they say, but I’m a bit anxious about it all tbh and the scan results.

I’m not too worried about the sex, even though I always thought I’d want to know. I guess the other worries dwarf it at this stage.

OP posts:
Kay00 · 15/11/2023 20:08

How are you feeling now? How many weeks are you? I wasn't fussed about finding out the sex, but my OH wanted to, and it is quite nice knowing now.

The worry never goes away (ever I heard 🫠) but it gets easier. Esp after the 12 week scan, and again when you start to feel movements (which are quite reassuring). Hopefully you'll get to enjoy it soon.

Saying that... People keep telling me to 'just enjoy it', but it's hard to do when I still don't really believe it's happening 🙈

thislittlebird · 16/11/2023 09:03

@Kay00 yeah I feel ok. I’m 12w 4d, tired, hungry, still getting headaches. Started getting gum/teeth problems this week and also stopped the meds, although I’m still on cyclogest until my scan on Saturday.

I thought I’d be the person pushing to find out but I’m not and neither is he, it’s conflicting.

I feel quite guilty tbh because I’m not excited or anything, I’m just worried and anxious about each stage which sucks, because it isn’t what you expect. Anyway, hopefully all will be ok.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 28/11/2023 07:51

@thislittlebird just popping in to say it's fine not to be excited. Took me until 35 weeks to show excitement. Pretty sure my work colleagues thought I was a heartless bitch as I didn't tell them until 25wks then even after that whenever people asked me Qs, I would be like "😬👍"

Kay00 · 28/11/2023 11:46

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl haha, I'm the same. I get fleeting moments where I'm excited, but in the whole I just feel a bit uneasy. I've started reading about the birthing process now... And that's a whole host of random emotions 🫠

@thislittlebird how was your scan? How are you doing?

thislittlebird · 01/12/2023 08:13

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl yeah I can’t really decide how to deal with people. We just told a few family members and I’m finding that weird. A woman at work told me she’s also expecting right before me and I didn’t say anything because I was still waiting test results! I must have reacted very strangely 🙃

@Kay00 I’m ok. 12 week scan was two weeks ago tomorrow (I’m 15 weeks on Sunday) and I’ve heard nothing so I’ll assume that’s a good thing. Would really like a letter to tell me the results :/ I know it’s likely low unless they’ve cocked up but I wanted to do the NIPT and I’m still waiting to find out the combined test outcome. Did you do the NIPT?

OP posts:
Kay00 · 01/12/2023 08:42

@thislittlebird yes, I did the NHS NIPT because my blood tests came back with a similar profile for downs(1 in 13 chance), but my scan had shown no concerns. The NIPT came back as 'low' so I was happy with that and didn't do the more invasive tests. I'm sure I got the concerning results back within a few days, so no news is probably good news. Do you have a midwife assigned yet you can talk to about the results?

thislittlebird · 01/12/2023 17:14

@Kay00 so obviously I had PGT-A but it’s not perfect science, and then they said I’d get a call in 3-7 days if high risk. That was 2 weeks ago, and I still don’t have a letter with my actual results, which are probably low risk. I just feel like I should do the NIPT to be doubly sure, if that makes sense. I can get it for £250.

I’m seeing the midwife at 16 weeks (need to check the date), so week after next probably.

OP posts:
Kay00 · 01/12/2023 23:51

Get it if it will help xx £250 isn't a bad price and it might ease your anxieties, which would be priceless xx

thislittlebird · 02/12/2023 15:39

@Kay00 yeah, I’m worried it’ll come back with a bad result if I do it, such a minefield!

Hey everyone,
I hope you're all doing well & the pregnancies are going on @thislittlebird & @Kay00 ? 💛
I just wanted to quickly pop on to have a hopeful message in case anyone is searching on mumsnet.
I gave birth to my little girl last month. It was quite a stressful pregnancy given my miscarriage history and high risk levels of further miscarriages due to high DNA frag, plus the initial combined screening test giving us increased risk for downs ( NIPT gave us the all clear), as well as multiple episodes of bleeding & reduced movements.
However, she was born on her due date at a healthy 8lb6oz 💜. 10 fingers & 10 toes and she's perfect. Feeling very grateful for science to allow us to have a family xx

Kay00 · 29/12/2023 13:16

@JeanieJ that's wonderful news!! Congratulations 💕. I'm really pleased to hear she is healthy (sounds as though she is just perfect) and you are doing well too.

I'm 31 weeks today and feeling huge. But baby measuring well and kicking lots ☺️. Just a few more weeks for me to go now... Eek!

@thislittlebird how are you getting on?

JeanieJ · 29/12/2023 13:34

@Kay00 oh that's fab news 🙂 you're on the home stretch now 💛. Enjoy those last few weeks ...I think I'm in the minority, but I loved the 3rd trimester ... it was when I finally accepted I was pregnant.
I still can't get over the ovarian drilling worked 🥹 xx

Tillybabs · 29/12/2023 16:20

@JeanieJ congratulations that’s amazing news! I unfortunately got a BFN today after my 3rd transfer. I was going to call it a day but we have one frostie left so I’m going to go on the waiting list for surgery to reconstruct my uterus and then try one more time. I might as well give it one last shot.

Kay00 · 29/12/2023 16:52

@Tillybabs I'm so sorry my dear 😓

Tillybabs · 30/12/2023 20:52

@Kay00 thank you x

thislittlebird · 30/12/2023 21:10

@Tillybabs sorry to hear your update, it really is a shit experience all round.

@JeanieJ big congrats to you!

OP posts:
Tillybabs · 30/12/2023 21:13

@thislittlebird thank you. How are you doing?

thislittlebird · 30/12/2023 21:47

@Tillybabs I meant to ask, what surgery are you going to need?

I'm ok, it's all been very strange to date tbh but starting to feel more real now. Hard to believe though, when you've been through all this.

OP posts:
Tillybabs · 30/12/2023 22:12

@thislittlebird I'm waiting to speak to the consultant because I’m not entirely sure what it involves but it’s for my adenomyosis. The Dr told me it’s something he could do and has done with many patients to try and help. It’s some sort of reconstructive surgery. I will be on a waiting list of about a year and it will take 4-6 weeks to recover but I’m willing to try this as a last resort as it will increase my chances.

Im glad all is going well with you

thislittlebird · 31/12/2023 15:07

@Tillybabs oh ok, I think that infertility vlogger Amber Izzo might have had that surgery. I might also be misremembering, but I’m sure she spoke about adeno.

OP posts:
Tillybabs · 31/12/2023 15:15

@thislittlebird thats interesting I will look her up. I am thinking about doing another EC, I’m just not sure with my age being I’m 43 next week!
