Ovulation

Hi, my ovulation snuck up on me this month and I’m wondering how likely I am to get pregnant, my tests normally gradually get darker so I know when it’s coming so can time intercourse for the days leading up but my tests went from barely a line to very positive in a matter of 12 hours, I test every 12 hours and the test 24 hours before the positive was no line at all, the test 12 hours before there was a line coming and then it was blazing and very positive so we only had intercourse a few hours after the positive test and the next day but I’ve read it’s the intercourse before the positive that is more likely to get you pregnant than once you’ve got a positive test. Thank you for any advice or insight.

When you get a positive test you usually ovulate 24-48 hours later so I would say you covered it.

How early was ovulation? I sometimes get a few surges of LH before the real one.

Georgia2609 · 23/06/2022 19:10

@KatySp it was 5 days early so that’s when we’d normally start trying, I don’t normally have surges before ovulation but that’s interesting to know, I’ll keep testing for another week and see if I have another thank you

Not to say it wasn't ovulation because some people do just randomly ovulate early but if you don't temp to confirm ovulation then you might wanna check again when you normally ovulate.

Wouldloveanother · 23/06/2022 19:14

Which cycle day was that?

Georgia2609 · 23/06/2022 19:37

@KatySp yeah my ovulation quite often is a day or two off so I wouldn’t be shocked if it just came a little early, I’ve tried temping but I wake up so much in the night and get up so much and never go to bed or get up at the same time so it doesn’t really work for me info

@Wouldloveanother it was CD10 and I usually ovulate CD15

The same thing has happened to me and some other ladies, I started a thread about it yesterday (called ‘early ovulation’). Mine is usually CD12 but I got my surge on CD9 which was yesterday. We dtd on CD6, CD8 and CD9. The surge was really brief however and while clearly positive, not AS strong as it usually is. I’m mystified as usually I’m predictable as anything.

Georgia2609 · 23/06/2022 19:46

@Wouldloveanother oh my it’s so crazy that you say that as my surge was really brief as well, the shortest surge I’ve ever actually had!!

No way, there must be something in the water! Imagine if we all got BFPs…!

Wouldloveanother · 23/06/2022 19:55

Here are my tests from yesterday. Left to right is 11am, 2pm, 5pm (ish)

@Wouldloveanother wouldn’t that be amazing! Not too long and we’ll all find out I’d love to know if you do ❤️ At 10am my tests were negative, 10:30pm it was very positive and 5am it was just about positive and 10am the next day very negative

How long until test day Georgia?

Georgia2609 · 23/06/2022 22:50

@Wouldloveanother my positive test was yesterday so should be ovulating today so 2 weeks 😩 how about you?

OP posts:
Wouldloveanother · 23/06/2022 22:55

Same! We will have to compare outcomes - hoping our weird tests mean it’s a ‘lucky’ cycle rather than a dud, lol

Georgia2609 · 23/06/2022 23:57

@Wouldloveanother we’ll can do the dreaded 2 week wait together 😩😂 with my son I got a positive test at 10dpo and my miscarriage I got a positive test at 9dpo so might not have to wait a full two weeks 🤞🏻

OP posts:
Wouldloveanother · 24/06/2022 06:54

Yes hopefully only a 10 day wait! 2 weeks feels so long. With my last pregnancy I got a strong positive at CD21, I probably could’ve taken the test a couple of days earlier and got a BFP. So thinking I’m an early ovulator.

Wouldloveanother · 24/06/2022 10:10

Here’s today’s OPK anyway. Negative but quite a strong negative, usually my post surge tests are really faint.

Ok just did another because I am now obsessed… it’s darker again and I would say, positive! So it looks like the second surge is happening

Georgia2609 · 24/06/2022 13:02

@Wouldloveanother wow that definitely looks like another positive! I haven’t tested yet today as I’m not home but I’m going to test when I get in about 2:30

Let me know how it goes Georgia. Going to dtd tonight so we will have done it every day, or every other day, this cycle - so hopefully there will be some swimmers waiting whenever the egg decides to get a move on! It’s all we can do I suppose!

Georgia2609 · 24/06/2022 14:37

@Wouldloveanother I’d say that’s definitely a good idea, you’ll have don’t everything you can.

OP posts:
Georgia2609 · 24/06/2022 14:38

Mine is very negative

Mine are back to negative again 🤯🤯🤯 what on Earth is happening? Right that’s it, one last bonk tonight then that’s my ttc effort done for the month - I think the stress is counterproductive now…

Georgia2609 · 24/06/2022 16:51

@Wouldloveanother that is so strange and confusing, if it had stayed positive longer then I’d have thought you last surge failed but it’s so odd that they are both so short! It’s just a waiting game now isn’t it
