Early ovulation?

Hi!

currently ttc… usually a 26/27 day cycle with ovulation on CD12 or 13 according to my opks. this morning (cd9) I got a positive opk, a negative one a few hours later, back to positive by late afternoon, and negative again now!

any ideas what’s going on please?! Have I ovulated? ☹️

thanks in advance xx

Following because this has happened to me this month also!!

Must be something in the water! Did you have the pos-neg-pos thing as well? I think the most likely answer is that my body geared up to ovulate a bit early but it didn’t work out - usually I get 48 hours of consistent strong positives. Hopefully an OPK expert will be along soon…

Yep exactly the same!
I wasn't expecting it as, like you, don't normally ovulate until 12/13.
I read you can have a rise then it dips down again then up again for ovulation but I read that much I confused myself 🙈

Just checked my app, and I have actually had this before (sort of) - I had a strong positive on the morning of CD6 which then turned immediately negative a few hours later, and went on to ovulate as normal on CD12. So, who knows!

Also found this, it seems like a brief positive OPK very early in the cycle followed by negs and then positive again at ‘regular’ ovulation time is a thing maybe!

I wasn’t measuring with a opk but I noticed this with ewcm, I had it on cd9 just once, then nothing until my usual time at cd18-20. I found it odd that it appeared so early.

Very strange Blue! I’m going to chalk it up to a dud, keep testing and if I get a surge at normal time then it was likely to be a failed surge. This does mean two lots of ovulation sex though - I’m knackered!

This happened to me this month too and I’ve never noticed it happen before. I had a static smiley on CD9 which is way too early for me. I continued testing and I got another static smiley (confirmed on an Easy@home) on CD13. I thought I was out this month due to having an odd cycle but I’m 4 weeks pregnant today!

Wouldloveanother · 22/06/2022 22:22

Ooooh curly congratulations!! Hopefully that will be us in a few weeks 🥰 wishing you a happy & healthy 8 months ahead!

Negative OPK this morning. Will be back to update if I get another surge in case anyone finds this in future….

Congrats @Curlywurly3!

Another negative for me op, probably the lowest I've ever had.

Will also report back if I go up again!

Normally get positive between 13-16.
So I'm quite interested to see what happens

User1406 · 23/06/2022 22:04

It's most likely your body gearing up to ovulate early but then couldn't so is trying again.

I've had early ovulation a few cycles in the last 12 cycles. Not too sure why. There seems to be a lot of research on random late ovulation (stress, medication etc etc) but not much on random early ovulation.

Wouldloveanother · 24/06/2022 10:06

That’s what I thought User - yes there’s a lack of info on early ovulation it all seems to be on late ovulation. I’ve been very stressed this last few weeks so perhaps that’s messing with things. Anyway today’s OPK is negative but I think quite dark? Usually after my surge they’re very faint for the rest of the cycle.

I also had no cramps which made me suspicious that ovulation hadn’t actually happened, usually I get quite a distinctive one sided cramp. At my early scan with my 2 year old I was able to tell the sonographer which ovary released the egg and she confirmed I was right!

Ok just did another, that’s positive right?! So it looks like the second surge is happening! Time to have a ‘working lunch’ with DH…!
