Hi Girls,

Im new here and just need some girly advice and a chat really. Only person I’ve spoken to about this is my OH.

The boring stuff, I have a 35 day cycle, 5 day period window and believe I ovulated on 29th April (according to my app).

Im currently a week late and I’ve tested with an Asda pregnancy test and BFN. Im getting all the pregnancy symptoms but im just stuck in limbo. Im not functioning like normal, it’s aggravating! 😂😂😂 I think I just need somebody to tell me to be quiet and man up.

Hope you’re all well and sending you lots of baby dust !

I’m in a really similar position, currently 5 days late - sure I ovulated on 3rd May (BBT tracking) but lots of BFNs this past week so no idea what’s going on! Just hoping AF arrives at this point so I can move on to the next cycle. Have been reading lots of late BFP stories but trying not to get my hopes up!!

Kel870 · 20/05/2022 11:15

Hello Lovely.
How frustrating is it?!! I just want to know either way! I’ve been reading all sorts of stories some women aren’t getting positives until 2 weeks after missed AF. Some aren’t getting any at all then they have a blood test at the GP and it’s a BFP and they are like 12 weeks gone! Our bodies are crazy 😂😂 Hoping it’s your month ✨ xx

OP posts:
Kel870 · 20/05/2022 11:16

What’s your symptoms? X

OP posts:
2023hopeful · 20/05/2022 13:13

@Kel870 so frustrating!! From 10 DPO I was so tired, had some nausea and really hungry but I’m actually feeling better now so not sure what was going on! With my DS I had a BFP at like 9 DPO

Kel870 · 20/05/2022 13:33

I’m the same, one minute I have a burst of energy the next symptoms are there. I’d rather just see my AF than not know! Lol I’m trying to Continue my work, housework and mummy duties as normal. Just have more breaks in between! 😂

9DPO is considered early isn’t it ?! I think they say average time for a woman to get a BFP is 13DPO so there’s time! Hope I see your BFP announcement soon! Xx

OP posts:
2023hopeful · 20/05/2022 13:48

@Kel870 hope you get your BFP soon too! Do keep me updated

Steph149 · 20/05/2022 15:38

Hope you don’t mind me joining in!

I'm I’m exactly the same position, except I’m now 2 weeks late for AF 😭

It's driving me mad, I tracked ovulation using the cheapie sticks, saw a peak, felt very definite ov cramping start the next day (I guess it’s lucky I get the cramps 😂) and then 7dpo get what I’m absolutely sure was implantation cramping, it was like nothing I’ve ever get before, and very obvious pinching/pulling/tugging that lasted on and off over about a day and a half

Fast forward to 3 weeks later, still no AF, a host of symptoms - nausea, the worlds sorest nipples, bloating, sore back and hips (I never get this with AF), I’m constantly exhausted for no reason and loads more and still every morning bfn on cheapie tests and frers (I dig one out every so often in the hope it will be positive 😂)

not really sure what to do at this stage!

@2023hopeful I’m doing the same, reading stories of really late bfps and hoping I’m one of those 😂

Kel870 · 20/05/2022 16:45

@2023hopeful I will do lovely 🥰 ❤️ You too xx

Kel870 · 20/05/2022 16:59

@Steph149 Ah don’t I get it! It would be nice to know either way right? Hope this is your month girly.

Ive not been actively trying as such but at the same time not preventing it, so now ive missed a period I just wanna know!! 😂😂 When I went to the doctors he said test every 3-4 days until either AF arrives of until you get a BFP! I’ve also read loads of stories about people being sooo late and getting BFP’s!

Do you have moments feeling ok but then all of the sudden you feel like you have been hit by a bus? It’s so odd. Xxxx

OP posts:
Steph149 · 20/05/2022 17:50

@Kel870 we are actively trying, but only since Feb and we lost a month because my DH came down with covid around the time I ov’d in March!

I’m exactly the same, just want to know either way instead of being stuck in limbo and feeling rubbish! 😩

I’m not sure whether to bother trying to make a drs appointment, I’m worried they’ll just say the same that yours has!

I’m having one of those moments right now, was feeling crappy all day in work (luckily wfh today so was able to hide it!), finished up and it hit me like a tonne of bricks, currently lying on the couch in my pjs watching reality tv because I think it’s all I can handle right now 😂going to use it as an excuse to phone in a takeaway to try to stop feeling so sorry for myself 😂

are you testing every day? I feel like it’s already part of my morning routine now 😂xxx

Kel870 · 20/05/2022 19:10

@Steph149

Ahh so early days, would be so lovely if you got your BFP! Do you have any other children?

I wouldn’t bother with GP unless you miss your period twice in a row, they will literally tell you the same! Lol. I’ve heard their tests aren’t no different and some digital ones are more sensitive. No point! I literally went because I thought I had a water infection and I had to tell them I was late. No water infection and a BFN!

Im literally doing the same, I had 3 children from a previous relationship, so me, my partner and the babies are ordering and putting a film on! I’m not moving! Your night sounds so lovely .. 😂😂

Ahaha! Ahhh it’s so tempting to test everyday! but no, I haven’t been. I’ve tested once when I was 3 days late and another when I was 6 days late. So I’m going to leave it until Monday morning maybe. I just hate the BFN and being in limbo. What tests are you using ?? xx

OP posts:
Steph149 · 20/05/2022 20:11

@Kel870 we’re trying for our first, we’ve been talking about it for years but never felt ready to actually go for it (mainly because of my work etc), but spoke about it late last year and decided we really should just go for it, there’s never going to be a perfect time!

aww that sounds like a lovely night! How old are yours?

I'm going absolutely up the wall tonight, loads of really strange crampy feelings again, not sure but really uncomfortable and not like anything I’ve ever felt before 😩

You’re much more sensible than me!😂 been testing since about 10dpo (so 3 days after what I’d swear was implantation cramping). For the first 2 weeks was absolutely convinced I’d see a bfp based on how I was feeling, now every morning I expect it to be negative but can’t stop testing 😂

It might be easier to list the ones I’ve not tried 😂😂😂 sticking to the easy@home cheapies for now with a frer chucked in every so often (ie when I convince myself I can maybe see something if I squint hard enough and hold it in a certain light!). But I’ve also got a stash with a couple of clear blues and I think a random supermarket one in there too 😂😂😂 what about you?xx

Kel870 · 20/05/2022 20:35

@Steph149

Ahhh that’s so exciting!! It’s so magical. I’m excited for you and no you’re 10000% right - there never is a right time even if the bubba’s are planned. Lol. It always works out how it’s supposed to either way 🥰

I’ve got an 11,9 and 6 year old. I’m 35 so as much as I feel 25 if we aren’t open to naturally falling now the chance may get less and less. Just ordered a Chinese. Not sure whether I’ll enjoy it yet 😂😂 I really fancy it but the food comes and I change my mind 😂😂 What did you order?

Im trying to be sensible , not sure how long it will last though 😂 I’d be like you though especially with my first and no other children to distract me! Test away. Just hoping that your BFP turns up soon! It’s still possible !!

Lol. I haven’t got a stash yet but give it another week then I might!! 😂😂 Ive only used Asda own. That’s it. Lol. Think I’ll grab a First response or ClearBlue on Sunday though. See how I go. xx

OP posts:
Steph149 · 20/05/2022 21:04

@Kel870 I’m 35 as well! I was in seeing my gp about something unrelated and mentioned coming off the pill and trying in about 6 months time and she immediately launched into a big speech about my age etc and that if I wanted to I’d better start now, led to a conversation that night with DH and here we are!😂

we went with Indian, but after all that I barely touched it because I’m feeling so rotten today 😩 thank god it’s the weekend and I’ve got nothing planned!

I’m trying to stick to the cheapies and only reach for the more expensive ones whenever I think there’s maybe a hint of a line there, not doing too well though, I’ve found myself opening a frer when the cheap one is very very obviously stark white 😂😂😂

I’ve seen some really horrible evap lines on clearblues here, so I’m not sure I’d even trust it if I saw one on that 😕

what kind of preg symptoms are you having?xx

Kel870 · 20/05/2022 21:14

@Steph149 Ahh how mad is that! I’ve read so much online about it, we’re still ok but I think as we head more towards 40 it’s going to get less chance. So yeah think we’re doing alright. GP’s are so blunt 😂 I’m with a new partner and he definitely wants kids so I guess we’ll see what happens. Be lovely for us to have one together.

Ive got a bit of a packed one tbh, got my sister coming over tomorrow and we’re taking the kids out for a bit then we’re both over to my other sisters tomrorow night. So no rest for me 😂
Glad you can chill, I’m feeling ok at the moment but it will hit me tomorrow no doubt.

Oh really, I might try FRER then. Just incase. I don’t want no evap lines. I want a clear answer either way 😂 It’s like a hobby this testing lark 😂

Symptom wise, I have the usual. Mild cramping, on and off throughout the day, tender boobs, lower back ache, tiredness, waves of nausea and then missed AF. I just feel a bit off too if that makes sense. How about you? Xx

OP posts:
Steph149 · 20/05/2022 22:16

Mine is blunt, but she is lovely and I’m glad she did it even though I had a minor panic when I walked out 😂

We were originally planning to go out for dinner tonight, but I cancelled it at lunchtime because I was feeling so crap. In a way I wish I did have something planned this weekend though because it would maybe take my mind off of whatever is actually going on with me right now!

It’s a very expensive hobby 😂😂😂

Mine are exactly the same! my back and hips have been sore on and off for the last 2 weeks, started the day AF was due and eases up sometimes and then appears out of nowhere again 😕

Cramps are horrible tonight, not sore, but really horrible feeling, like a constant pulling, pinching and almost like a drumming sensation for the last 2 hours. Nausea has eased up in the last day or so or maybe I’m used to it at this stage 😂 but I actually threw up in work a couple of times last week (one time I thought it was just me in the toilets until I heard the door next to me open mid vomit 😳)xx

TheDaydreamBelievers · 20/05/2022 22:30

My advice (from someone trying a long time):

  1. If your period is late but you are not pregnant, you didn't ovulate when you thought you did. Your body tried and failed to do so. It happens to everyone every so often (or skip ovulation entirely), if it happens a lot start looking into PCOS etc

  2. if you are pregnant enough to get symptoms caused by HCG, you'd test pregnant. All other symptoms are progesterone related and therefore meaningless (rises before period too). I'd encourage you to really ignore all symptoms. They vary month to month and it'll drive you mad

Kel870 · 21/05/2022 10:53

@Steph149

Sometimes we need blunt. A nice reality check 😂

Ahh I know what you mean, your mind rests when you’re busy! What’s the plans for today? X

Ive had an increase of watery CM today which I haven’t had past two weeks so either late AF is on her way or it’s another symptom to add to my list 😂

My cramps have also been horrible, mild but I know they are there and it’s on and off all day so I know how you feel. Hope they have calmed down today!

Oh bless you! I bet they was hoping you was ok, what happens in the girls toilets stays in the girls toilets 😂😂❤️

Kel870 · 21/05/2022 10:56

@TheDaydreamBelievers

Hi Lovely

Thank you for that. I think it’s just a waiting game for us at the moment. Every body is different and some people do get late BFP’s.

In the same breath you aren’t wrong, just have to wait for either/or. I’m pretty relaxed, I just think it’s the unknown that’s irritating.

Hope you’re well x

OP posts:
Steph149 · 21/05/2022 11:24

@Kel870 it definitely gave me the kick up the bum I needed to stop delaying 😂

I’m thinking a lazy day, will probably go for a walk and pick up some coffee and a cake (who am I kidding, I’m definitely going to pick up cake 😂😂😂)

my cramps were exactly the same yesterday! So weird that we’re both feeling pretty much the same thing! They seem to have stopped today.

hahaha hopefully, I tried to sneak out (the toilets are right in the main office area so who knows if anyone realised it was me 😂)

Fingers crossed it’s not AF on the way!🤞

@TheDaydreamBelievers it’s helpful to hear from someone who’s being going through this journey and sorry to hear you’ve been on it for a while.

There are a lot of stories out there of people getting late bfps and I’m not saying I think I’m one of them (I know it’s relatively rare!), but there is definitely something going on with me. It’s been 3 weeks of really strong symptoms and feeling completely rubbish, so while it might not be the start of a bfp, it’s good to be able to talk to people who understand what I’m going through and can offer some words of wisdom! Bless him, my dh is really trying to ‘get it’ but he’s got no idea what I’m on about half the time (although he’s obviously been Googling because he came out with a load of terminology this morning that I’ve definitely never used to him 😂)xx

TheDaydreamBelievers · 21/05/2022 12:04

@Steph149 @Kel870 I really hope you are late BFP people, just warning that I've been there before and the hope can be a killer 😭. Late BFPs do happen but they are sadly the exception, not the rule.

The other good bit of info would be that any cycles you had on hormonal contraception are artificial and don't tell you anything about what your cycles will be without hormonal contraception, what symptoms you will face etc. I had 10 years of 28 day pill cycles, only to be faced with 52-90 day cycles with random symptom surges when off the pill. I basically get a few times in a cycle where I will develop pre ovulation symptoms, then pre AF/?"pregnant" symptoms (sore boobs, nausea, cramping etc) - for me these are caused by an attempt to ovulate, then my body tries to increase progesterone (creating the symptoms), then drops again because it realises I failed to ovulate. I'm not saying this is true of either of you, just leaving it here in case it helps anyone any!

(I'm now on fertility medication so technically back on artificially created cycles haha)

Steph149 · 21/05/2022 13:26

@TheDaydreamBelievers that’s all really helpful info thanks!

3 weeks of this has been awful though, I’ve been having to make excuses to cancel nights out or wfh rather than go into the office when I’m meant to be there because I’m feeling so rotten, not sure how many more times I can get away with that 😂

I’m fully expecting AF will randomly appear at some point, to be honest I just wish it would hurry up and I could stop feeling so crappy and could have another go on my next cycle if it’s not to be this one!

Sounds like you’ve been through a lot of this before though! How long have you been ttc?x

2023hopeful · 22/05/2022 10:30

So AF arrived for me today, a whole week late. Pleased to know either way though as was a very odd few weeks! Hoping you all get your BFPs soon 🤞

Kel870 · 23/05/2022 11:24

@Steph149 @2023hopeful @TheDaydreamBelievers My AF turned up today! 10 days late and my lower back is in pieces.. cramps have been unreal.

Thanks for your support girls and all advice. Steph, you’re still in ! How you feeling ? Xx

Sorry for the late reply, I had a hectic weekend. Xx

OP posts:
Steph149 · 23/05/2022 12:14

@Kel870 @2023hopeful sorry to hear AF has turned up! At least you’re out of limbo and onto a new cycle!

Sorry to hear yours sounds so rubbish @Kel870 😩

I’m still in exactly the same situation, 17-18 days late now, and no AF symptoms but still very much bfns on cheapies! back pain has thankfully eased up and cramps have largely gone, so I guess that’s something!😂

I decided today I’m only going to test on a cheapie every 3 days now. I’m guessing AF will turn up at some point over the next few days, just wish it would hurry up and I can get on with trying again!xx
