I had a miscarriage in March and will be trying smep @ opks for the first time this cycle as I have no idea when I have ovulated since the mc my cycle has been crazy.

Getting pregnant again is all I can think about and I never thought I would be planning to this extent but then I never thought I'd have a miscarriage either.

Looking for any advice or positive experiences using this method/opks if anyone wants to share Flowers

Thanks!

@MooBugz So sorry to hear you've had a miscarriage. I had 3 myself and then used the SMEP to get pregnant twice, once to have my 2 year old currently sleeping upstairs and then again to have the baby I'm due with in August so there is light at the end of the tunnel! The method can be quite tiring but stick with it to the letter and I find it's totally effective! Good luck x

@siaa oh so sorry to hear you had 3 I can't even begging to imagine how you got through it.

That's lovely success stories how many cycles did it take for you? I'm hoping I'll get lucky with the first cycle on it as I've not had much luck last month trying without any actual plan and was saddened when my period still showed up 😒

@MooBugz it was the first cycle both times! I think you really do have to follow it to the letter as I've had friends who haven't been as militant about it and also the ovulation testing which is a key element, and it took them a few cycles. 3 miscarriages was very hard at the time but once you've had your baby you kind of just feel that you had to go through that to get to them, if that makes sense. You will get there just keep trying Flowers

@siaa that's amazing first cycle both times. I am so ready to try this and have ordered my clearblue digital ov tests just this morning so fingers crossed for this cycle being a success 😆

Sorry to hear about both of your miscarriages. I have also had three miscarriages myself and am planning on staring SMEP in a few days as I'm CD7 and due to ovulate around CD16. When are you starting @MooBugz

@siaa can I ask, was there anything you did differently for your successful pregnancies? I have had all the tests which have come back normal and made some lifestyle changes along with taking a lot of new vitamins. Also been prescribed progesterone for next time too

@trinity198 sorry to hear about your MCs, I also had the tests and was prescribed progesterone same as you, but also aspirin and HcG injections as I think some of my tests did come back with some issues. First successful pregnancy I also got myself into the gym and got fit but I don't think that made much of a difference to the success as I certainly am not fit this time round!! Still haven't lost the baby weight from baby #1. Good luck with everything x

@siaa thanks for getting back to me. I have been told to take aspirin from 7 weeks and also have blood thinning injections due to previous provoked dvt. Not heard of hcg injections before though. Maybe this is something I can ask about. Thank you so much for your advice x

@MooBugz sorry to hear about your loss. We tried the SMEP but we found that it required us to DTD too much too soon - there was no powder left in the musket by the time I tested positive on OPK! In the end, we got our BFP having sex only twice the whole month (CD10 and CD12) with a positive OPK on CD14. Best of luck to you x

@trinity198 hello!

I didn't really do anything different tbh but I did have covid and feel that may have been a factor of mc but we'll never know for sure.

I do believe it is just one of these crappy things that doesn't always have a reason but it's not until we go through it we realise how common it is.

All you can do is try and hope for the best. I used to tell people not to stress and it'll happen yet here I am now on the other side and know it's not as easy when that's all you think of.

Good luck, hoping to try smep soon, currently in cd2 of the worst period ever (2nd cycle post mc) x

@RMS0209 I'm thinking CD10 as I usually ovulate on CD16. I am a bit worried we will get to ovulation day and be too tired though 😂 I'm on my 4th cycle since last miscarriage now so keen to try something new.

@MooBugz I have covid the day I found out I was pregnant for the second time which ended in miscarriage and had the jab the day I found out with my first pregnancy which was a surprise pregnancy. I always wondered if that played a part as I had Astra zeneca but I guess we'll never know.

Yeah I agree, we just have to carry on trying because that's all we can do. It's better to try than to wallow

Hello! @MooBugz CD12 for me... started last night CD11 (oopsie) but going to do every 2nd night until I get a peak then the 3.
How you doing? x

Doing ok thanks. CD 13 today and we dtd Friday Sat and Sunday which was more than planned (should have missed Saturday) so had a break yesterday. Going to try again tonight and Thursday and then I should have a positive ovulation test on a Friday 🤞 so will be three days in a row after that. It's exhausting lol.

Just trying to not get my hopes up of it working too much so that I'm not too disappointed! Got an appointment with a private consultant tonight following all the results of my recurrent miscarriage tests so will see if he has anything else to say x

DH is ready to start tonight haha but we'll see.

I'm also trying not to get my hopes up but I think I will regardless because I've seen so many success stories so fingers arms and legs (not) crossed for all of us..

All we can do is give our best but either way we are all here for each other through the ups and downs ❤️

@MooBugz I think tonight might be ok, it all depends on when you ovulate as CD 8 is suggested for people who ovulate on CD 14. As I ovulate on CD 16, I left it a couple of days later. Would be typical if I ovulated earlier this month 🙈

Did an opk today and it looks like it's gradually getting darker but not yet positive! This time of month is my favourite as it's time to feel hopeful. I hate the tww!

@MooBugz but yes you are right, we are all doing our best and here to provide a helping hand or listening ear if anyone needs it

@trinity198 I guess start day won't make much of a difference as will be happening every second day anyway until positive test. Like you say hopeful time so I'm looking forward to it too.

I don't know when I ovulate anymore my body has been all over the place since the mc in March so will do the opk from cd10 as suggested.

Last month I thought I knew when I ovulated but AF proved me wrong with vengeance when I suffered the worst period of my life.

Day 1 let's do this!

@MooBugz yeah I hate that about miscarriages. As if they aren't bad enough, they then throw your cycles off for a few months. At least you can't go wrong with starting now.

I've been for my appointment and my consultant scanned me and said it looks like I'll ovulate in a couple of days which is right on time for when I thought it would come. He has also prescribed me a trigger shot of hcg just for an extra bit of chance we may fall pregnant this month. Only issue with that is, I'll have hcg in my system so I won't know if I'm pregnant or not until it's out of my system!
