@D22 - Welcome! Sorry you are going through this as well - i would book in with GP and get the ball rolling with blood tests etc you should then het referred to NHS. I know its scary but best to get the ball rolling as it seems to take awhile. I am still going through investigations but i think i will feel more empowered when i know where i stand. You can also do a private blood sample at home through Medicheck - they are really great, but GP will still want you to do bloods for fertility referral. X

Tinkerbell098 · 23/06/2022 14:14

@D22 welcome! Sorry you're going through this and we all understand what it's like very well. Definitely get the ball rolling as everyone has advised. It does take a while. My initial referral to the clinic was made Aug last year and yet to begin treatment, but I think it's just my area that seems to have had a massive backlog due to COVID. Initial bloods from the GP were quite quick, so it's something you could look into first, then a scan and HSG/Hycosy. Depending on what they find, they'll refer you for treatment/intervention.

D22 · 24/06/2022 08:46

Thanks @BritInNZ , that makes me feel a little less guilty about going to my GP, they are still on phone triage appointments in the UK .

@Koalie ad you say there could be a simple fix , I'd rather not waste anymore time if this is gonna end up a tougher journey

I appreciate the support

Indianna2006 · 24/06/2022 13:41

NatW2021 · 28/06/2022 10:48

Hi Ladies

Does anyone know if i pay for a private Hycosy if the NHS will accept my results? CD1 is looming as BBT dropped off a cliff this morning and i just need some answers!

I am due my follow up in 3 weeks but i just have a feeling there will be further waiting lists for the test plus waiting months for a follow up and i really just need to rule this out as its constantly on my mind x

FlyOnTheWall89 · 28/06/2022 10:58

@NatW2021 I would think the best thing to do is call the clinic and ask roughly how long the wait list is and if you were to find privately, would they accept the result. I know @Indianna2006 was going to go privately so she may know although she wouldn't have been entitled to NHS IVF anyway. Xx

NatW2021 · 28/06/2022 11:04

@FlyOnTheWall89 - Hope you are well? Thank you - TBH every time i speak to them they just fob me off and say wait to speak to the dr. I am just at my wits end with waiting and trying to second guess whats wrong with me and another cycle passes by.
I am sorry to be so dramatic but i am just so down at the moment.

FlyOnTheWall89 · 28/06/2022 11:26

Yes I'm good thank you. I can't imagine they wouldn't take them because it saves them money and time but who knows! I think it's definitely worth looking into. I'm sure someone on here will have the answer. Are you going to try ditching the temping next month or stick to it? It's not dramatic at all. It's so so hard.

NatW2021 · 28/06/2022 11:40

@FlyOnTheWall89 - glad to hear your well 😊 i am trying to be patient and level headed - maybe i just wait 3 weeks and see what the dr has to say and take it from there with regards to waiting times. If its going ti be 2-3 months ill just go private.

How long did people wait from being referred to hycosy to actually having it? Then was you given results there and then?

Even been looking at private IVF options - can you do one private cycle then still be eligible for NHS funding if it doesn't work?

Indianna2006 · 28/06/2022 11:50

@NatW2021 I believe nhs will accept private results but does depends on clinic. Cos it’s a waste of time for them to do it again if it’s already been done.
was no wait with private. Was just literally waiting for eight point in your cycle if that makes sense to get it done. But I think some ppl wait time for Hycosy wasn’t laods once they actually had a referall and talked to someone.

i wasn’t even being referred by nhs hence why I went private. They seem to fob you off once it’s second child. As they know you won’t get much further help anyway.

ring up a few close places and see.

it’s not dramatic at all. It’s so hard keep going not knowing if it will ever work or not. Especially when you’ve not fallen at all.

i even feel like that sometimes and technically I’ve been pregnant 4 times now in my life. But still I feel like meh. Will I actually get one that turns into a baby 🙄

FlyOnTheWall89 · 28/06/2022 11:59

@NatW2021 mine was very quick - weeks not months. But at that point we had been told we would need IVF with ICSI and that was a tick in the box for my clinic before we proceeded. The doctor who did it said she could tell me there and then but I'd have a follow up call which I booked the next week without a problem. This is SW London.

Hoping43 · 28/06/2022 13:07

@NatW2021 i was told by my NHS clinic I needed an HSG on 29th March and I had it 12th April x

NatW2021 · 28/06/2022 13:29

@FlyOnTheWall89 @Hoping43 @Indianna2006

Thanks ladies - i might as well just wait it out and take it from there. I just keeping thinking if i know my tubes are ok then at least i know theres a chance if theres something wrong all the diet/supplements and lifestyle changes wont make it more possible. I am keeping up with it all as i know it can only help ivf chances if it comes to that.

Btw what are good AMH levels? I dont no mind yet but be good to know in preparation for my results x

Hoping43 · 28/06/2022 13:32

@NatW2021 interestingly, I have this right next to me as I got a copy of my results yesterday for going private…

very low <2.6pmol
low 2.6-17 pmol
satisfactory 17.1-34
high (OHSS risk in ART) 34.1-55
very high >55

this says it’s using the Roche assay whatever that means.

I think it’s worth bearing in mind that different consultants seem to have different opinions on these numbers

NatW2021 · 28/06/2022 13:37

@Hoping43 - thank you! Hows it going? Any updates xx

Hoping43 · 28/06/2022 14:28

@NatW2021 no updates from me. Coming to the end of cycle 15 and know it’s not been successful again so I really am losing hope of it happening naturally.

Hope you’re feeling a bit better now xx

NatW2021 · 28/06/2022 15:02

@Hoping43 - i am a few months behind (cycle 13) but i know the feeling all to well. AF just showed up this afternoon. X

Carla2601 · 28/06/2022 15:27

@NatW2021 so sorry you’re feeling so down. We had no issues with nhs accepting private results and my understanding is you could do a private cycle whilst you wait for nhs funding (that was our plan) but don’t take my word for it definitely worth checking x

NatW2021 · 28/06/2022 16:15

@Carla2601 - Thank you, i just cant shake feeling depressed about the situation, i just want it all to go away and have my life back, talking about it doesnt help, i just feel desperately hopeless and cant see an end to how i am feeling at the moment x

Hoping43 · 28/06/2022 17:19

@NatW2021 i totally understand how you feel but I think once you start having more appointments, tests etc, you start to feel a bit better, like you are doing something about it and like you have a little bit more hope. It is totally soul destroying though, I completely get it x

NatW2021 · 28/06/2022 17:25

@Hoping43 Thanks 💗 i think you are right its just been a long year with no answers, i have researched what i can and cant do no more on my own. I just feel in no mans land and when you feel so sad with no explanation it feels harder. Just cant wait for my appointment x

BritInNZ · 28/06/2022 21:01

Hi ladies, sorry to see some of you are having a rough time. We all know how that feels! I think pushing for a HSG/hycosy is worthwhile to rule out any tubal issues. Saying that, I had one and everything was fine, but still took another 6 months to get pregnant! Thinking of you all.

No update from me really, just really sore boobs and the anxiety from not being able to conceive is now replaced with anxiety that something will go wrong. Unfortunately I think this will be my life forever now - as now doubt once we have the baby I will be anxious about their health, growing up etc 😂 the things we go through as women hey!

Hey all,

It's been a while since I checked in.

Welcome to the newbies and a MASSIVE congrats for the BFPs girls! So lovely to hear some good news. Sorry for those who are feeling fed up, I'm sending hugs.

I've been a bit quiet as sadly my brother passed away very unexpectedly and it's been a big shock. I'm gradually starting to feel my normal self again now.

In terms of our journey... a few things to update you on.

DH had a second semen analysis to confirm there definitely isn't any sperm, came back zilch again.

He had his hormones checked (all fine), checked for the cystic fibrosis gene (he didn't have it, so all good) and chromosome deletion (this also came back fine).

So then we was left with physical exam and ultrasound. We finally saw Dr Ramsay for these and he said he is 'cautiously positive' that it is obstructive. So our next step is surgical sperm retrieval and hopefully find and freeze some sperm!

I hope you're all doing ok - sorry that I'm a bit behind on all the messages! x
