@Carla2601 thank you for the welcome.

I would love to chat with some ladies that have been through IVF
I've always said it wouldn't be for me as I would just love to fall pregnant naturally. It's now a consideration as I'm at my wits end waiting and hoping.

Putting this month down to a missed period as its now 15 days late took another 2 tests this morning both negative.

I really need to contact my GP.

FlyOnTheWall89 · 08/06/2022 11:24

Thanks @Carla2601 - you're the best at making me feel positive about the whole thing.

@BritInNZ how are those 2 eggs doing? Weighing you down? How do you now? Xx

Koalie · 08/06/2022 12:06

Hi ladies
Gosh it is so hard to keep up on here! 😆
@Tinkerbell098 thank you for your message re your day 21 bloods! Absolutely barmy how it’s not black and white.. anyway, will get my day 3 results this week so will share when I do!

@FlyOnTheWall89 .. hope you don’t mind my input but I think it will do you good to go away and not be having to worry about injections etc whilst you’re there. It will likely give you that bit of time to prepare yourself for the next part of your journey :)

@BritInNZ … I love the sound of 2 eggs .. always said I wouldn’t want twins but I definitely want two children and now starting to think I’d actually love to only have to go through this process once 😆

@TW6 welcome to the group! Sorry I can’t help with IVF but there are a few lovely ladies here who can x

Just an update from me … I decided to pay the £650 to see the Asherman’s specialist Mr Lower on Monday. I just can’t bear the thought of having to fight my way through the nhs and the months of waiting for tests and even if I don’t have it, he might be able to tick a few more things off my list (might pay for a HyCosy too whilst I’m there.) I just have this gut feeling that something isn’t right so I’m going to follow it … health is wealth and all that! Hey … there isn’t anyone here who’s had Asherman’s Syndrome so maybe I can add something new to the group? 😆 (hopefully not!)

x

Carla2601 · 08/06/2022 12:51

@TW6 ive had quite a different view on IVF to what I’d read here/insta etc, I really found the whole thing fine from a physical perspective. The injections weren’t sore or scary (and I am squeamish as anything!!) I didn’t have any side effects really (until I actually was pregnant) and I was pretty much able to just carry on with life. so I couldn’t recommend it enough.

that being said my OH had a very clear problem that the IVF could fix (it was just a missing pipe so the sperm and the eggs were both fine) so we got very good results and I know that isn’t the norm. And of course IVF is easier doing one cycle than multiple that I know some people need. Even without the results though the process to get to blastocyst was all good. The hard bit is the worry and emotional impact….but that applies to ttc too so you’ve got it anyway already.

I’d say definitely contact your GP. Let us know how you get on!

Carla2601 · 08/06/2022 12:53

@FlyOnTheWall89 most welcome - I know you can do it….im only sorry you now know the horror of the pessary 😂😂

@Koalie good news and good luck on Monday! Also hope you won’t be adding something new but that you get some answers!

FlyOnTheWall89 · 08/06/2022 13:20

I totally think you're right.... like how much harder can it be than going through months and months or years of TTC,'or miscarriages. @Carla2601

TW6 · 08/06/2022 13:27

@Carla2601 @FlyOnTheWall89 when I think about you guys are right. It can't be any worse than what we've been through so far. Thank you ❤️

Indianna2006 · 08/06/2022 17:58

Just catching up on the thread.

@BritInNZ oh how strange. Is it around now you’d usually expect ovulation to happen or is it later? Perhaps you ovulate later than you think or yours moves around more? Like if you got positive opks. Maybe yours takes 2-3 days to still release the egg and so your efforts are out. Or like others say. Maybe you aren’t ovulating correctly every month. Which could also be why it takes longer! Hmm interesting about the mid cycle spotting which isn’t linked to ovulation. if your cd 17 ish now and ovulate in next few days. If you ovulated cd19 and get period cd28/29 that’s still 11 day luteal phase. Which is okay. I had that and fell pregnant no issue 5 years ago. Think 9 or under is short. But it’s more the early bleeding issue I guess?

@FlyOnTheWall89 glad your appointment went well. Bit of a bummer on having to delay dates but like you said just try to think it’s only a month. And Altho Oct for fet seems so far away. Each week and each months that passes. You’re one step closer. You can totally do it. We are stronger than we realised when we have to be. There is no option. On we go.

@Koalie hope you get some answers soon. I do find GPS very frustrating sometimes..they just seem to always get it wrong.

@Carla2601 hope you are doing well!

@TW6 welcome. There’s a few ladies on here which can help you with the IVF side of things.

@Tinkerbell098 how are things with you?

@NatW2021 hope you’re okay hun in the AF slump. Sending hugs your way.

Now starting my fertile week in my first proper cycle since miscarriage. I feel a bit of a imposter now tbh ladies 🙈and a bit silly talking about it.
I know lots of you are still trying naturally, I guess just feel like the thread has moved on quite a bit from ttc for 9 months and then ttc for a year plus. Which is still all relevant to me. But now more moved onto assisted conception.. which is great as everyone can share knowledge. Whereas I’m just back at the start again..hoping for natural conception but who the fuck knows hey.

Anyway I’m waffling but I like following you all and hoping you all get to see those pink lines 🙂 ..as do I again soon xx

Koalie · 08/06/2022 18:24

@Indianna2006 I’m not moving onto assisted conception yet 🙋🏻‍♀️ .. I’m still in no man’s land 😆there are no imposters here … just a bunch of women helping each other through probably the most difficult time of their lives 🥰 good luck with your first fertile week. X

Tinkerbell098 · 08/06/2022 18:52

@Carla2601 haha I'm definitely not sorry I asked about the pessaries, thanks for being honest. I'm up for anything that would help the baby inside! Not too long for your scan now. Gosh that's gone so fast hasn't it?

@FlyOnTheWall89 thanks for sharing. Didn't realise they downreg for 20 days!! Would you not be doing a scan before they start Buserlin? The booklet I got from the clinic says first an AFC scan on CD2-6, then daily Buserlin injections from about CD21 until you get a bleed (7-14 days later) and then scan again to measure baseline and blood test. Then you're on two injections, morn and eve (buserlin and gonadotrophin) for however long it takes to get enough follicles before retrieval. That is what I've been told, but things could change I guess. I'm sorry you have to postpone a month, but it is just a month and you can still try naturally. That way you could enjoy your break with the in-laws and come back fresh.

@Indianna2006 good luck with FW. Glad everything is going well after surgery and you are feeling more positive.

@Koalie let us know what you get for your Day3. it will be interesting to compare.

Ladies, I'm annoyed, they rang me this morning to cancel tomorrow's appointment. I asked why they're cancelling and the woman on the phone said something to do with the consultant's availability. She asked when I'd like to reschedule and I was like as soon as possible please as I have been waiting 10 months for this appointment! So anyway it's been postponed to next Thursday now. It would be about CD3 for me so not sure we could use that cycle as it maybe too late. I was really looking forward to the appointment tomorrow and was really disappointed that it's been cancelled. Fingers crossed the next one will still go ahead. I got to know that the consultant that I'd be having the appointment with would be the same one we saw privately back in Feb. We really liked her, so at least that's a positive!

BritInNZ · 08/06/2022 19:22

@Indianna2006 that's good news that you had a shorter luteal phase and managed to get pregnant. I'm 99% sure I ovulate the evening I got back from my scan - had really strong pains on the side the eggs are so that would be CD17 of a 28 day cycle so I'll take that! Still not sure what next steps are after this cycle, need to speak with my fertility specialist - I assume unmonitored from now on, which would be a welcome break from all the appointments!

@Koalie haha my husband loves the idea of two in one too but I'm not so sure 😂 I already have a heart shaped uterus so will be high-risk if I get pregnant, let alone with two!

@FlyOnTheWall89 pretty sure those eggs have been ovulated now! DTD the night I had ovulation pains with some fertility lube which I haven't used in months. Desperate times hey 😂 got a blood test next Wednesday to confirm I ovulated and not sure what next steps are after that! I suspect maintain dosage for the next 3-5 months without the monitoring now they know I have responded as I should.

Here's something to cheer you all up... my friend went through a horrific time getting pregnant. 5 years, 3 rounds of IVF, 3 miscarriages, 2 ectopic pregnancies and 2 failed embryos. Yesterday she gave birth to her little boy. So even when odds are stacked against us it can happen! It's the only time I actually have pure joy about a baby without any jealousy as I know how hard it was for her to get here.

OP posts:
FlyOnTheWall89 · 08/06/2022 19:30

@Tinkerbell098 no scan first for me. Not sure what the point would be of an AFC on the cycle before they down-ref you and then stimulate..! They said with the buserelin, I'd bleed on and off. They book in the 2 keys dates, which is that first injection and then 20 days later, the scan to check I have a thin lining and it all looks perfect to begin the FSH. I do FSH for 7 days then I go in for a scan and then scan every other day until I'm ready... so could be after 3 days, or after 5 whatever is best.

We are sticking with the August timeline for now 🤞🏻.

No don't feel like an imposter @Indianna2006 - we are definitely keeping going naturally and have a small chance each month - 2 more months to try! You're not really at the beginning - I know the NHS says that but really it doesn't make sense because each month is starting from scratch. You'll either be pregnant or not pregnant by the end of that month.

Carla2601 · 08/06/2022 19:38

@Tinkerbell098 that is so frustrating! Still at least they’ve not given you a huge delay and you like the person but I totally get it on being annoyed by the hold up.

haha everyone keeps saying how quick it’s gone, feels like an eternity to me but I know it isn’t. I’m hoping after this one I’ll feel like it’s completely real but I’ll keep you posted!

@Indianna2006 definitely not an imposter and good luck this month!

@TW6 thats definitely it - if you can get through to this point you can take the IVF (I’m a wimp generally and very scared of anything health related so you’ve not just stumbled across one of those women who finds anything like that easy trust me 😂😂😂😂)

TW6 · 08/06/2022 20:15

@Carla2601 just need to get to the bottom of this mystery missing period I have an appointment with the GP but not till the 21st.

We are waiting on a letter through with our next appointment with the fertility hospital about IVF so will take it from there hopefully not to long a wait.

Reading through the past comments on this tread has really helped me thank you ☺️

Tinkerbell098 · 09/06/2022 14:13

@FlyOnTheWall89 good point about the initial AFC scan. The booklet says it's to see if I've got more than 5 follicles as that is their threshold to start treatment or not. If I don't, they would scan the following month up to 3 goes and decide if to proceed or not. But as you said, don't see the point in doing that if I won't be starting until the following month. So confused!

@Carla2601 yes a week is not bad at all, I was just annoyed yesterday as they gave really last minute notice to cancel an appointment for the following day, and since I was waiting for this like forever.

I also wanted the first round to be over by end of Aug for my OH's 40th. But seems I'll probably be having appointments and injections and mood swings and what not around that time when I wanted to do something special for him/ go away somewhere. His words were "if it works, it'll be worth it". He's been so ready to be a dad ever since we got married and it's just breaking me :(

NatW2021 · 09/06/2022 17:17

Hey Ladies, just catching up on messages. Hope everyone is doing ok and sorry if i have missed anyone. I am cd7 and my mood has picked up now, think someone mentioned earlier how about the week leading up to AF and the first few days of a new cycle are the worst - deffo has to be hormone related! I called the hospital yesterday abs was told i was still in the que for my follow up so none of the wiser and just have to be patient, deffo agree with those who mentioned about being in no mans land but keep praying it will happen naturally!

@BritInNZ - really pleased to hear you have 2 eggs, fingers crossed for you! Sometimes i think id be happy to twins so i didnt have to worry about TTC ever again!

@Tinkerbell098 - sorry to hear your appointment has been pushed back a week its so annoying when all we do is wait wait wait anyway, i suppose a week is doable and its not any longer and at least its with your preferred doctor.

@Indianna2006 - good luck! I am approaching my FW and i think i am just becoming a bit more laid back as i only plan to time DTd when i get my peak/ovulation day.

Sorry if i have missed anyone there has been loads of messages since i last came on here xx

Carla2601 · 10/06/2022 00:06

@Tinkerbell098 ah I can totally understand that especially as it’s a big birthday! If you went away for a weekend you could pack your sharps box and do your jabs in transit I reckon….I was so determined to see the Jodie Comer play I did the jab in the loo and then sat with the needle in my pocket till I got home….glad I didn’t get searched on the tube 😂😂. Or get something booked to go away in your TWW. Or better still in your wait for the blasts to grow (they’re cooking them for you so you can relax and have a few drinks if you want to I think….I didn’t have a reason to but they didn’t tell me not to, in fact they said nothing you can do will have any bearing on the outcome). Will help pass your time too. And he’s right if it works it’ll be the best gift ever 😊😊

@NatW2021 welcome back, glad you’re feeling brighter

Tinkerbell098 · 10/06/2022 14:46

@Carla2601 yea, we always talked about doing something nice for his 40th, like driving trip through Europe, or something similar. Of course, we thought we'd be a family by then. We've just halted all our plans this year due to the uncertainty around TTC/IVF timelines. I like the idea of doing something in the TWW (not too bothered about not being able to drink as I'm not too big on alcohol anyway!). Once I'm more clear on the timelines, I'll try and book something in. It would definitely help with the wait I'm sure. Haha your adventures at the show and the tube made me chuckle. Things we have to do!

BritInNZ · 12/06/2022 21:44

How was everyone's weekend and how are you all feeling?

AF is due next weekend and I have all my usual PMS symptoms (my boobs are so sore, I get it every month and it sucks!) so I'm feeling quite down and know that my first month on letrozole hasn't worked. Getting fed up with not having any answers and the impending doom of having to save/spend $20k on something other people get for free 😢 only thing keeping me going is the thought of my UK/Greece trip in 6 weeks! I'm not drinking at the moment but as soon as I'm on holiday I will be enjoying many many cocktails. Hope you're all feeling more positive than me!

OP posts:
FlyOnTheWall89 · 13/06/2022 06:15

Hi @BritInNZ !! Who knows, it could not be pre AF. Stay positive! It's so funny how different everyone is. I never get sore boobs - once tiny area on the top left of my left boob gets sore (ish), that's it.

I'm due on tomorrow or Wednesday 😢. No pregnancy feels here either. I always allow myself to get a bit hopeful but I can't face doing a test and the hope being over. Another Instagram influencer who works with First Response posted her very early pregnancy announcement and I couldn't stomach it. Unfollow.

Greece / UK will be so good and such a nice way to break up this prolonged nightmare of TTC and that cycle of every month feeling so damn long. I think I'm going to try to do ovulation sticks again next cycle since it's our penultimate shot and we have said we will really give it our all this time.

Can't believe we both were on here in why like October?!?!? And we are still here 😢

BritInNZ · 13/06/2022 06:22

@FlyOnTheWall89 I'd like to say how very jealous I am. I spend my whole TWW holding my boobs when I walk and wearing sports bras 😂 on the odd occasion I won't get sore boobs and it's a joyous occasion haha!

See - that's exactly how I feel! I don't even bother to get my hopes up though, I write myself off well in advance. I know exactly which influencer you mean because I also unfollowed her after 😂 it annoyed me how quickly she fell pregnant both times and now I know it's all she's going to post about, so unfollowed her as soon as the announcement came.

Yes go for gold next month (of course hopefully there isn't one!) but I always think, if I know I've done all I can then I can't blame myself when AF inevitably arrives. I was told we'll have 6 months on letrozole then a review appointment, so I'm already counting away the months hoping it doesn't get to the IVF stage 😭 I don't even mind the IVF, I just don't want to pay for it. It's our entire life savings!

I know!!! I initially set this up like '9 months TTC' and now when AF arrives I'm double that. I kind of wish I'd known I'd struggle at the start, but also miss those oblivious days where each month was filled with hope and I knew nothing about TTC and all these bloody acronyms 😂

OP posts:
FlyOnTheWall89 · 13/06/2022 06:50

Oh glad you saw it too and I remember her AMH was low for her age (a sore point for me) and she fell pregnant immediately. Anywayyyyyyyy.

Ye I'm only a few months behind you but I have lost count tbh. It's horrible. Does the 20k get you multiple rounds? My fear is that something else will be picked up during IVF... like we will have a low fertilisation rate or something and it will become multiple rounds. We only get the first one paid, then we are also onto paying for rounds.

6 months of letrozole is quite a lot. I really hope that kicks something into gear. How do you feel about the unexplained diagnosis? Is there anything else you can investigate, or do you feel you've ticked every box? Xx

Hoping43 · 13/06/2022 07:25

Hi @BritInNZ. just wanted to say I know how you feel as we also have to pay for IVF and it feels fast approaching and it’s also unexplained for us. What’s even more incomprehensible is we already have two and my youngest isn’t even 3 yet. How can things chance so quickly?! I just cannot understand it at all. We will be starting in the autumn when we get to 18 months TTC as they don’t want to give us ovulation induction x
