@Koalie i am no dr but I think the only one that can be read accurately on day 21 is progesterone and that looks great. Mine was 34 for reference.

not sure about prolactin but deffo LH, FSH and estrogen need to be day 3 or 2-5 x

Koalie · 06/06/2022 21:43

@Hoping43 That’s what I thought … and I said this to my GP when she booked in the bloods. I said ‘aren’t LH, FSH and Estrogen supposed to be done on CD3?’ and she said ‘no they can be done on any day’ 😒such a waste of time … was a right ball ache trying to get them booked on the right day as well … I can’t imagine I’d have any chance of ringing up on CD1 and getting an appointment for CD3, which is why I’ve just done the home test myself x

FlyOnTheWall89 · 06/06/2022 21:44

@Koalie progesterone is fine - mine was 47 for reference. The others need to be done on day 3 really for you to actually get a good picture of things. Isn't it annoying that your doctor didn't say this, especially as they knew it was a CD21 test?! Crazy. Low FSH could be a number of things but tbh, get the results of the proper CD3 test and go from there. X

Koalie · 06/06/2022 22:02

@FlyOnTheWall89 … yes, very annoying and the main reason I don’t really have much faith in my GP.
Will keep you all posted on my day 3 results ! Thanks so much for all your help, you absolute angels ! X

Carla2601 · 06/06/2022 23:16

@BritInNZ good luck today (I think that’s right with the time difference) let us know how you go

Carla2601 · 06/06/2022 23:17

@Koalie it’s wrong and even more tiring but could you see a different GP? Sounds like they’re not helping you or even doing the basics

BritInNZ · 07/06/2022 03:58

I had slightly more positive news at my scan today. I have two follicles so should ovulate in the next few days. I say slightly more positive because it's raised more questions for me... I have bleeding mid-cycle which I always thought was ovulation but clearly isn't as I had it this month and I haven't even ovulated yet! And also it's CD17 of a 28 day cycle and I haven't ovulated yet?! So seems too late in the cycle for me. Quite confused about it all but nurse said I will have to discuss with my doctor.

Carla2601 · 07/06/2022 07:49

@BritInNZ that is confusing although it’s at least throwing up some potential things you weren’t aware of which hopefully means you’re getting closer to your answer and then your fix. When can you see your doctor to discuss?

BritInNZ · 07/06/2022 08:19

@Carla2601 I have no idea, I didn't get any guidance. I don't even know if I have to be monitored next cycle 😂 will have to follow up and get some confirmation. Will probably wait on the whole short luteal phase thing until my AF arrives so I have proof it's short. Kind of scared about the fact I have two eggs, hopefully we don't end up with both. Although we can't even get one so chances of two are slim!

OP posts:
FlyOnTheWall89 · 07/06/2022 10:06

So odd @BritInNZ - hope you get to the bottom of this!!! Maybe you've not been ovulating or been ovulating every now and then and therefore this could really help. 1 progesterone test doesn't really prove regular ovulation. Do you temp or monitor EWCM? I can't remember. Xx

BritInNZ · 07/06/2022 10:11

@FlyOnTheWall89 I temped for a few months which said I ovulate around day 17 or 18 so haven't bothered since, but might try again next month.

I've got really painful ovulation pains now! Hurts to stand up 😂 can't definitely tell there's two eggs there rather than one!

Carla2601 · 07/06/2022 11:31

@BritInNZ maybe this is a really sensible first step as if they’ve ended up identifying something (that hopefully they can fix with drugs and no further intervention) then that would be great. Much less invasive than going straight to IVF and as @FlyOnTheWall89 says I guess the month they test might not represent the other months. Anyways I hope they get you booked in soon so you can start to get some answers and a plan 💪💪💪

Tinkerbell098 · 07/06/2022 13:30

@Koalie just wanted to say my bloods were all done on CD21 too. I never had day 3 done as I was told the same as you, that it doesn't matter which day you do FSH/LH etc. How strange! Although when I saw two consultants, neither of them told me I should have CD3 bloods done. Progesterone looks good. Mine was 36.

@BritInNZ It's really great you are being monitored and hope you can get some answers this month. Fingers crossed this will shed some light on and they are able to fix things for you.

@Carla2601 when is your next scan? Are you still on the progesterone? How are you finding it?

Tinkerbell098 · 07/06/2022 13:35

@Koalie just had a look at my FSH on the Day 21 test and it was 1.5, lower than yours and it was deemed normal. The reference range given on my report is 1.5-9.1 for luteal phase. It's really confusing how different reports have different reference levels. I thought everything was standardised!

Tinkerbell098 · 07/06/2022 14:58

@FlyOnTheWall89 I just remembered that you were due to have you appointment this week as well? Mine is on Thursday and I think yours was a couple of days before me? How did it go? Hope it's all positive! Keep us posted x

Carla2601 · 07/06/2022 20:40

@Tinkerbell098 whens your appointment and how are you feeling? My scan is a week tomorrow. Starting to get nervous.

Youre going to regret asking about the progesterone but in the interest of being fully transparent on the IVF it’s bloody awful! I am so bloated but the worst bit is the discomfort. Three months of twice a day now means I’m all cut and sore….even sitting down is painful. Pooing is horrific and I often bleed (not from anywhere it could be related to the baby). Anyway that is so far over the TMI line but for me these little innocuous looking bullets are the worst bit. That being said if they keep the baby safe I obviously don’t care a jot. But I will be VERY happy when they end haha!

told you your regret it 😂😂

FlyOnTheWall89 · 07/06/2022 21:02

Hi guys, thanks for checking in.

Appointment was great. Lovely fertility nurse ticked off the tonnes of paper work. She gave us a really useful flow chart to explain the long protocol and talked us through each step. It's hefty and long. She went through how to inject - thankfully the needle is small so I am hoping that bit is less scary than imagined. Not sure if this is at every clinic but they book in two key dates... the first day of injections and the first scan so we have an early August start and then a scan to see how it's all going 20 days later. That's 20 whole days of a buserelin injection before we even begin with FSH which is in addition to the buserelin. For interest, this month was full so even if I had got that appointment earlier, we would have been able to start. Next cycle I would start the big run of injections when my OH is away.... so August it is. We can continue trying as normal. You can begin taking Buserelin even if you're pregnant so we don't need to use contraception the month we begin... which surprised me.

We might push it a month. We will have to travel with the medication to our family who are not in the UK and I'll have to inject their every day and we haven't told parents and I don't want to be pampered over or pitied or worried about. I just sort of want to do it in our own nest, just us two (plus a few very close girls know). Undecided on that. Working it out, if we start early September, FET wouldn't be until late 2nd week of October which feels like a lifetime away from now. Urghhhhh we both came away being like god we would love to fall pregnant naturally 🤣😢.

@Carla2601 that sounds pretty horrible. Is this something everyone has to do up to the point of the scan? So close to the scan now. The time has gone really quickly!

X

FlyOnTheWall89 · 07/06/2022 21:02

@Tinkerbell098 any questions btw re appointment. Fire away 😊 xx

Carla2601 · 07/06/2022 21:20

@FlyOnTheWall89 that sounds good, really good progress. The injections are honestly fine but the first one you’ll feel like you’ve never been taught if you’re anything like me so feel free to ask 😂😂. If it helps at all my OH wasn’t around for jabs a lot so if you didn’t want the delay I wouldn’t say it would be too bad.

yeah it’s standard protocol I think so get ready 😂😂😂

TW6 · 07/06/2022 21:45

Hey guys!

Been shared this thread from another one I joined new to this. 1st timer on here.

Been TTC for 3 years. Fertility test done and we are both ok but IVF has been offered. Still considering options. It's just a unknown reason why we can't conceive.

I have had Regular cycles for the last 3 years. 27 days is my max currently on day 40 no signs of AF and getting negative tests.

Tried different brands. Not stressed no changes to health. I was told to stop tracking my ovulation a few months ago but I'm sure I had all they systems and signs of it being when it should have been.

I was so hopeful thinking today will be the day I finally see that line ive been hoping for. Forward on to day 14 with no AF and I'm so confused clinging on to the tiniest thread of i could still possibly be.

Has this ever happened to anyone before and what was the outcome?

Carla2601 · 07/06/2022 22:23

@TW6 welcome to the thread and sorry you’re here.

that’s never happened to me so no advice to offer sorry (from memory that’s not something we’ve discussed but I might be wrong) but this is a lovely group so you’ve still landed in a good place.

i have had IVF so if it’s something you’re thinking about always happy to share and I hope you get your BFP or at least your AF soon as the waiting must be awful x

FlyOnTheWall89 · 08/06/2022 06:18

@Carla2601 ye I remember you saying. It's also because the 6 week process then dominates my summer holidays and we wouldn't be able to go to see our family abroad and they've been renovating a house for us and we would have to tell them why we were no longer coming etc. it's complicated. Way easier to just have sex and get pregnant. Urghhhhhhhh. I only have a school holiday window where we can actually visit them otherwise we could just push seeing them rather than push making a baby. Lots of our friends parents have either died or are seriously - we are getting to that age - so my OH wants to spend the summer there with his parents (who thankfully are very healthy atm). It's just a month later. That's what I keep telling myself. At least we have a date to work with now.
I'll be able to collect prescriptions in July and we will go for our mandatory STI blood tests too and probs pop in for another injection training. X

FlyOnTheWall89 · 08/06/2022 06:18

Ps @Carla2601 those pessaries sound like hell.

Carla2601 · 08/06/2022 07:07

@FlyOnTheWall89 and a holiday will do you good and it’s just a month as you say. At least you’re booked in and have a plan.

they are little demons haha but hopefully worth it. I’m back to thinking something will go wrong now I’m within a week of the scan
