I'm doing everything I can next pregnancy to avoid induction..I had 4 sweeps, waters went but labour didn't start so on the drip I went. Had additional waters popped twice whilst on drip too. Absolutely brutal 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ ended up in a c section for failure to progress.

I'm keen for a vaginal birth if there is a next time however there's no way I'm getting put in the induction drip again.
I'd love a water birth but doubt I'll be allowed one with having a section previously 😞

HeathenPlayingHouse · 10/05/2022 14:09

I would avoid induction next time if I could help it as well.

DS was measuring BIG so I requested induction since I wasn't sure my arthritic spine/pelvic joints would cope with going overdue. Consultant wasn't eager but agreed, but then I had a big bleed on induction day (Friday) so he didn't argue.

DS didn't make an appearance til the early hours of Monday morning, after I needed an epidural, forceps and an episiotomy. I lost a litre of blood, needed 2 days of IV antibiotics because they were worried I caught sepsis, and ended up taking blood thinner injections for 6 weeks afterwards.

I can't remember most of my active labour, OH says I was delirious. I must be mad for trying again 😂

lj2022 · 10/05/2022 14:29

@Dreamingof3 sorry to hear about AF and hope you're doing okay I know how frustrating it is x

Cherrymarket · 10/05/2022 14:49

@Theawkwardblonde you can have whatever birth you want and a previous section does not mean you can’t have a water birth x

Jennifer89 · 10/05/2022 15:21

@FourOclock that is interesting. I will point this out in appointment that even if they can't guarantee a c section this would be my preference to being induced or assisted delivery..

Theawkwardblonde · 10/05/2022 15:37

@Cherrymarket that's reassuring to hear! However I'm hoping to TTC 6 months post section - I'm thinking if I fell quickly I may be pushed towards another section which I definitely do not want. Would love a water birth now despite not wanting one in my previous birth. Although anything other than what happened in my previous birth I'd be happy with 😂

@Dreamingof3 sorry to hear AF on the way.

Jennifer89 · 10/05/2022 16:10

@Dreamingof3 sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed for next time!

Cherrymarket · 10/05/2022 16:31

@Theawkwardblonde ah yes that does add an extra risk layer I imagine. Still, they can’t make you do anything I guess!

HeathenPlayingHouse · 10/05/2022 16:52

@Dreamingof3 Sorry about the BFN, fingers crossed for the next one!

Cherrymarket · 10/05/2022 17:09

@Dreamingof3 sorry I missed your message… hope you’re ok and sorry af came

Anonymouslyposting · 10/05/2022 17:38

Hi everyone, just joining the TWW crew after ovulation at the weekend. We DTD most days so fingers crossed.

I had a partial induction with my first (just the drip as they needed to speed things up after four days of labour and meconium in my waters when they broke) and it actually wasn’t too bad. I was knackered by that time so went for the epidural so I could sleep and ended up with a ventouse, big haemorrhage and episiotomy but the recovery was pretty straightforward compared to what I imagine a c section would be. I wouldn’t aim for an induction this time but the drip really sped things up so I’d have it again if need be rather than a c section. I may feel differently about induction if I had had to go through all of the peasant, water rupturing etc first though!

Organictangerine · 10/05/2022 17:42

For what it’s worth my instrumental was quick, not at all traumatic and like pulling a biscuit out the packet. The difficulty is if you decide on a VB you can’t 100% rule out forceps or ventouse - DD was too low for a CS, but needed to come out, so forceps it was. No incontinence at all and no damage to me, same for my friend who also had forceps.

HeathenPlayingHouse · 10/05/2022 18:27

Went to the chemist to pick up my prescription, only to be told that I'd been prescribed Mefanamic acid.

Pharmacy assistant started questioning me "But that's a diabetic drug". So I go to the surgery to find out what's happened, and it seems the GP prescribed Metformin, then came back and changed it to Mefanamic acid even though I told him this morning that it wasn't working.

I was so fucking frustrated, I burst into tears right there at the reception desk. The receptionist was saying how she'd never seen it prescribed for that before (so?) and the GP had gone home so he couldn't change anything.

My only options are wait until Thursday to call back and speak to him (I don't want to call tomorrow because it's the other doctor), which is a pain because I have to go into the office. Or the receptionist suggested I call the out of hours doctor to ask for Metformin, which is a joke. Why would an out of hours doctor prescribe me a drug that my GP apparently won't?

I walked home, burst into tears and got myself so worked up I had an asthma attack. I'm fed up of not being listened to.

Organictangerine · 10/05/2022 18:29

Oh @HeathenPlayingHouse 😔

I don’t blame you at all - I have a few health issues and have to request lots of prescriptions. They get it wrong more than they do right - and that’s when it arrives on time. It’s so frustrating and I too have cried on occasion. Hope you’re okay and they get you sorted.

LemonZestDribbles · 10/05/2022 18:43

@HeathenPlayingHouse you must be so upset and frustrated with it all ❤

Another one against another induction. I'd like a vbac I think but I'd prefer an elective over induced. Although if another was measuring as big as ds I would be inclined towards an elective.

Dreamingof3 · 10/05/2022 18:46

Sorry I don't think I worded my other post well 😅

I want AF to turn up! We go away Monday and a normal period for me is 4 or 5 days so she's cutting it fine 🥲

Well in that case hurry up AF 🤣

Cherrymarket · 10/05/2022 19:24

@HeathenPlayingHouse i am not surprised you burst into tears what an absolute joke!!! Care shouldn’t be this shoddy!

@Organictangerine biscuit out of a packet really made me laugh 😂

HeathenPlayingHouse · 10/05/2022 20:05

Thanks everyone ❤️

I said to OH earlier, I think the reason I was so upset is not because I didn't get the Metformin- it was to be expected that it wouldn't go straightforward like I hoped.

If he changed his mind about prescribing it, or even got mixed up and meant Mefanamic acid all along, then fine. But all he had to do was call me and tell me what he'd done, or even leave a voicemail asking me to call the surgery. They didn't have to leave me to be blindsided like that.

Haha! I expected loads of pushing & tugging but he pulled (quite gently) and she slid out! It wasn’t at all what I imagined - I thought he would have his foot up on the table and all sorts (been reading too many scary stories on MN so just wanted to counter)

Tropicana1 · 10/05/2022 20:37

@HeathenPlayingHouse I got metformin prescribed for PCOS after insisting on a referral to an endocrinologist when my gp wouldn't prescribe it. Got the referral and literally the endocrinologist was just like "yup that's fine" (this was a good 10 years ago now, so hopefully more gps prescribe it) and then I just put my referral letter on file every time I've moved house since. I had a brief period of time where I was getting it with an online prescription for PCOS as well in between GP's (for some reason I can't remember) so if you can't wait for a referral but you want to start it an online pharmacy GP is also able to prescribe it for PCOS after an online consultation x

HeathenPlayingHouse · 10/05/2022 21:42

@Tropicana1 Thank you, I might look into that.

I think I'll give my GP a chance first to explain what the hell he's playing at. I wouldn't be able book an online consultation until at least Friday because of office hours, whereas I can still call him on Thursday. He better have a bloody good explanation though...

lj2022 · 11/05/2022 12:20

Does anyone else's BBT ever stay above cover line when on their period instead of dropping ?

LucyLoopyLu · 11/05/2022 15:02

@HeathenPlayingHouse been following your messages on here and it all sounds so rubbish and stressful! Sorry you aren't getting what you need from the GP. Hope you are ok and things get sorted tomorrow

I feel like I am out of the running for this month... but still feel nervous about this TWW. It's dragging! Due AF on Sunday. Felt so down and anxious, extremely tearful yesterday. Starting to understand why everyone finds it so hard on the TWW especially if you've been trying for a while.

What app do you all use to track your cycle etc?
I was using Clue (for years) but it's not great for TTC and tried Femometer but it's so cluttered up with bits that it wants you to pay £££ for I find it a bit annoying

HeathenPlayingHouse · 11/05/2022 15:11

Thanks @LucyLoopyLu ❤️

I actually had some good news- the GP at least did what he was meant to in terms of expediting my appointment, I called the hospital and they confirmed they'd received the request for an urgent appointment.

There's no guarantee it would be granted, but apparently a consultant should look at it in the next day or so and make a decision. They weren't able to tell me how much that might speed things up by, Google suggests a waiting time of 2 weeks but I think that's wildly optimistic! 😂

Either way, I should hopefully know next week if the wait time is less.
