@LucyLoopyLu hope you're both doing ok now?

@Amber17 Happy Birthday! Not out until AF arrives.

@LemonZestDribbles I'll be 10dpo on Saturday. Flo app says AF due Sunday but Fitbit app says next Wednesday so who knows! Lol! I go on holiday on the 26th so hopefully AF will be long gone by then or even more importantly I'll get a BFP! If I do I wouldn't even care that it'll be an alcohol free all inclusive holiday 🤣

LucyLoopyLu · 09/05/2022 11:58

Thanks all, we are OK now just the usual Monday vibes.

@dreamingof3 fingers crossed AF comes and goes before your holiday 🤞 so much easier not to have to worry about that

@Amber17 happy birthday! Still early days so don't be too disheartened. Are you going to test again in a few days?

SarahShorty · 09/05/2022 12:19

CD22 today, LH peaked last night, last DTD CD20, BD'ing again tonight. Today is ovulation day, so tonight will be the 5th go in 10 days, then I'm joining the TWW crew! Baby dust to all x

Jennifer89 · 09/05/2022 12:28

Wondered if you any of you ladies might know at which stage of pregnancy birthing options are first discussed with midwife? I have read up about forceps and other birth outcomes that make me nervous.. I am leaning towards wanting an elective c section but not sure will be taken seriously given it will be my first pregnancy..

FourOclock · 09/05/2022 12:33

@Jennifer89 you can speak to your midwife at your booking in appointment at around 8 weeks, but you can change your mind at any time and would normally have a meeting with a consultant around 36 weeks for elective c section (providing there's no other risk factors for earlier birth like twins!).

FourOclock · 09/05/2022 12:38

Happy birthday @Amber17 and hope you get the result you want in a few days!

I've not done any grand revealings to DH so no good for inspiration here! This time DH was convinced I was pregnant the whole week before my period was due because I was such hard work 😂 so I just text him after I took the test while he was at work, followed by 'can you get more milk on your way home' 😂

Jennifer89 · 09/05/2022 12:46

@FourOclock great thank you. Will definitely keep in mind to discuss during booking in appointment.

Jennifer89 · 09/05/2022 12:52

@Amber17 happy birthday and still chance of positive. I would test again when AF due.

Dreamingof3 · 09/05/2022 14:29

@Jennifer89 I'd mention it as early as possible so that they know about your preferences and your worries.
I'm going to do everything in my power to avoid a section this time...but if it was that or forceps I think I'd choose the section tbh! Just remember that it's all your choice ❤️

Jennifer89 · 09/05/2022 17:19

@Dreamingof3 thank you, will do that 🙂. Just out of curiosity what has put you off in particular about having another c-section?

Dreamingof3 · 09/05/2022 18:38

@Jennifer89 they're just horrible 🤣 I had pretty straight forward recoveries with both of mine. First was a bit harder in the first few days because it was an emergency so planned was definitely better in the immediate aftermath. You can't laugh or cough or stand up straight afterwards. My lower stomach is still numb and apparently that's quite common. There's definitely a lot of good things about them, don't get me wrong but I think people forget (including me! It's easy to do) that it's a major surgery....and then you're expected to look after a baby straight after 🤣

Jennifer89 · 09/05/2022 20:12

@Dreamingof3 that's interesting to hear your experience of c section.. I am still considering the pros and cons so is very useful to hear different view points. I guess how I also see it is c section sometimes can't be avoided and at least with elective you can plan for it..

Dreamingof3 · 09/05/2022 21:08

@Jennifer89 I think there's a lot to be said for the planning side if it. I'd 100% rather have another planned than an emergency x

Tropicana1 · 09/05/2022 21:09

@Jennifer89 I had an unplanned c-section with my first and for various birth related reasons will be most likely choosing an elective if/when I get pregnant again - I felt like my c section was the only calm in the storm so to speak and was the nicest part of the whole thing! Also had a quick and easy recovery from it so I do think that experiences with it will vary wildly - but it's definitely good to be prepared that it could go any way in that sense!

Dreamingof3 · 10/05/2022 08:16

Cd38 today 😭 just taken a pregnancy test just in case (knew it was basically impossible anyway!) And its negative so just waiting for af to arrive....starting to get annoyed now!

LemonZestDribbles · 10/05/2022 10:28

@Jennifer89 I'd mention it straight away. It's your body and your choice. I had an emergency csection - the recovery was tough but fine. I hated the injections i had to give myself the most after. I do still have numbness and occasional itchy scar from it. I've heard many people say an elective can be really relaxing

@Dreamingof3 so sorry about af :(

HeathenPlayingHouse · 10/05/2022 10:29

Morning all!

Waiting on yet another callback from the GP- I'm out of Norethisterone, and nearly out of Tranexamic/Mefanamic acid. Not that it matters because neither of them are working anyway 🙄

I'm going to ask for either Metformin or a low oestrogen contraceptive (I used to take Loestrin 20 which was discontinued in 2019, other alternatives are available but of course I've never been made aware of them because it's easier to push the mini pill at me). I also might ask for an iron test since they haven't offered in over a year.

HeathenPlayingHouse · 10/05/2022 10:45

I love this GP!

Not even 5 minutes later, I got my callback- he's expediting my hospital appointment, arranging more Norethisterone for the future if needed. I mentioned that the other doctor wouldn't give me Metformin, well let's get you some of that!

I just can't believe the difference in treatment between them.

SarahShorty · 10/05/2022 11:13

Morning, lovelies!

CD23 today, DTD last night (ovulation day) so now it's the TWW!

@Dreamingof3 really sorry that AF got you.
@HeathenPlayingHouse glad you found a decent GP!

Jennifer89 · 10/05/2022 11:16

@Tropicana1 and @LemonZestDribbles thank you for that advice 😊. Don't get me wrong if I could guarantee natural birth would be smooth sailing then great but it is the times when it goes havoc e.g. emergency C section or forceps that I am not keen on.

FourOclock · 10/05/2022 11:54

@HeathenPlayingHouse that sounds more hopeful! Let us know how you get on

@Jennifer89 definitely wise to look at all options! I've had two vaginal births but first was assisted and worlds away from my second - I still had to do the injections every night like after a c section and I struggled getting in and out of bed for the first few days, was in hospital for a week etc so I'm not sure a planned c section would have been worse recovery wise if that makes sense? Plus I wouldn't have been awake for three days straight in the run up either 😂

But my second vaginal birth was a lot smoother and barely remember any recovery time really, it's one of those things that if it goes to plan then yeah great, but as you say it's the emergency last minute changes and actions that make it more scary and longer to recover from.

FourOclock · 10/05/2022 11:56

Also, to add, I would do EVERYTHING to avoid an induction personally, so if I did go wildly overdue I would ask for a c section instead of induction, despite having an okay vaginal birth previously. There's a lot to say for the general feeling of control

I’m similar.
I think I would allow the balloon induction but no artificial membrane breaking, or drip.

I had the pessary last time (which was all I had) for post dates and will not be being induced for that reason again!
the birth itself was physiologically good, just I would rather a home birth next time.

has anyone here had a home birth before?

FourOclock · 10/05/2022 12:40

Yes I had a home birth with my second @Cherrymarket Smile I'm hoping to again this time if all goes okay. I did try with my first but had to go in after failure to progress

Tropicana1 · 10/05/2022 13:43

@FourOclock absolutely - I had an induction with failure to progress after 3 days including pessary and artificial rupture of membranes ending in my c section and would absolutely not do an induction again!
@Jennifer89 I had on my birth plan either natural / water delivery or early move to C section rather than assisted delivery if it was going that way. Mind you I then ended up with a horrible prolonged induction so maybe elective C would have been a better plan 😂
