I've heard that having sex very close to ovulation makes it more likely to have a boy, as boy sperm are faster and don't live as long.

But please, if you do have a girl, don't make her feel like second best!

@veronicagoldberg thank u I will keep that in mind when I'm doing ovulation tests...

Oh definitely, if I was to have a girl she would never be second best I would love both equally xx

Confused

Anything anyone suggest is only going to make it slightly more likely. Very slightly.

Honestly, best to just leave it to chance.

People say boy sperm only lives a couple of days. But I had sex on day 7, ovulated on day 14, (was ttc so testing out of interest but DH was working away so we couldn’t have sex after day 7 until he came back on day 25). Got pregnant with a boy.

Basically there are things you can do to make it more likely but the truth is there’s not much you can do to choose sex unless you go to a IVF cljnic and have the sperm ‘washed’ to make it single sex. Can’t remember if that’s legal in UK or not.

Have sex and cross your fingers?

elQuintoConyo · 09/04/2022 16:40

Not via blowjobs, as the sperm have further to swim.

50/50 chance every time, babies. Biology, innit.

stairgates · 09/04/2022 17:55

Look at the genderdreaming site. Best info out there. I wanted to balance up with a boy, worked for me 4 times in a row so swear by it, once you read into why it works it makes alot of sense and fit my past lifestyle during my run of girls.

MiddleParking · 09/04/2022 17:56

I did it with virtually no effort. I mean I was literally half asleep. Dunno if that helps.

catandcandle · 09/04/2022 17:59

Well I had read somewhere that doggy-style gives you a greater chance of a boy. I have only a sample size of one for my personal trial of this theory, but it worked that time! Blush

stairway · 09/04/2022 18:02

Eating loads and doggy style. Check in gender website. I have three boys and it’s much easier to sway for a boy apparently. Nice to see a mumsnetter wanting a boy for once.

Full fat dairy , lots of protein, good omega 3, oats, eggs, basically very good nutrition, avoid low blood sugar or sudden spikes that lead to low blood sugar

Its isnt More boys are conceived and born than girls
MrsTerryPratchett · 09/04/2022 18:36

More boys are conceived and born than girls

Only very slightly. For the OP it's effectively 50:50.

MySecretHistory · 09/04/2022 18:39

105 male births to 100 female More male foetuses miscarried than female

That isnt effectively 50/50

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/04/2022 18:41

That isnt effectively 50/50

Yes it is for one birth. Maybe if OP was giving birth to 100 children it would be relevant.
