TTC in late 30s

I'm 38 and am ready to start trying for baby number two. Would have tried sooner after baby one but had to hold off for various reasons such as poor mental health and finances but now the time feels right.

Any one of similar age in same boat and fancy joining for moral support? Any tips?

Have started taking some prenatal vitamins again, am a healthy weight and trying to maintain a healthy diet and some exercise, don't smoke, but do drink but only moderately.

Would I be able to join also please? Have read through all of your messages. I’m 30, no children yet and have recently come off the pill (after a good 15 years!!) I’ve had a withdrawal bleed straight after then a very odd 4 day bleed a few weeks back. But I’ve not ovulated at all- trying to be patience but more anxious to see if things can get back to normal. Have been using OPK’s. Completely agree that it’s very all consuming! Baby Dust to all!

Sounds like your in the same boat as me... I come off the pill too, had my breakthrough straight away, then started bleeding again yesterday but just a few spots but nothing since?! Also negative OPKs, very frustrating - What pill were you on? was it the combined pill or mini pill?

Did you class that 4 day bleed as your first 'normal' period?

Ahh so glad to hear I’m not alone! I was on Gederal I think it’s a combined pill. Never had any issues whilst I was on it. What pill were you on?

The 4 day bleed threw me! I thought it might have been a period but it wasn’t too heavy and only lasted 3/4 days.. So now I’m thinking it was a withdrawal bleed and I’m yet to have my first period. Is that the same with you? Xx

@TSunshine I was on microgynon which is a combined pill.

Yes similar to me, I had my usual withdrawel bleed like I always have when I take my 7 day pill break and then about a week later I've had a couple of spots of brown blood then nothing since just lots of period symptoms very crampy and just feel like my periods coming..
Can you have more then 1 withdrawal bleed? How soon after the first bleed did you bleed again?

Its very frustrating :(

@Graceybaby yeah really similar then. I came off on the 7th March had the bleed that week which like you said is your normal withdrawal bleed and then on the 24-27th had this short bleed.

I wouldn’t have thought you could have more than one withdrawal bleed?! I think what we both might have had is our withdrawal bleed and now waiting. Doesn’t help I’m not very patient! Hopefully it won’t be too long for both of us for things to get back to normal x

@Graceybaby so I’m using the easy at home little strips and using the pre mom app. I know the figures can vary between people but the highest it’s been is 0.38 which was a visible line. But not strong compared the control line and doesn’t register as a peak! I’m supposed to be in my ovulation time now and that was the highest and then it drops the same evening. So nothing is happening for sure! What about yours? Xx

@TSunshine, Same here really, I get a line (a very faint line) then some days it's still there in the evening then others its completely gone. I think you have LH in your system all the time so I'm guessing the lines are just picking up on that.. I've been getting consecutive very faints lines for the last day or so which is an improvement but still nothing even the slightest bit darker. Same here, if I was going to ovulate I would have thought it would be on it's way and be seeing some darker lines by now!

My days vary all week too so it's hard to test at the same time everyday which isn't helping!

I always thought my body would bounce back pretty quick but maybe it is an age thing.. I was 27 when I fell pregnant with my son, suddenly I'm feeling a lot older! 😂

Been getting some consistent ever so slightly darker (still definitely not positive) lines today and what seems like some EWCM so maybe somethings happening.. or it's just wishful thinking 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Graceybaby Ooo heading in the right direction though! 🤍 Positive thoughts. How long will you have been off the pill by this point?

Can I ask about the EWCM please- is there quite a lot usually? I don’t think I’ve had any yet but wondered what to exactly look for 😂

@Tsunshine Fingers crossed! But can't help but think it's all just wishful thinking! I took my last pill on the 15th of March so 17 days I think?

I haven't had alot of EWCM, just a couple of times today I've gone to toilet, wiped and it's been noticeable on the toilet paper and you can just tell by the look of it, it literally looks like egg whites 😅 but no not tonnes of it, it's not constant.

This was one of the tests I took, not positive but I'm sure they're getting darker. These tests are awful tho I wouldn't buy them again 🙈 the test line is so light it's hard to read it.

@TSunshine That looks darker then anything I've had though! When do you normally test? I try and stick to just testing in the afternoon as everyone says that best for OPKs but can't help myself sometimes 🙈
Yeah the EWCM was a good sign yesterday just not getting my hopes tho, feel like my body may just be all over the place 😅

I'd be hoping my tests would be getting darker if it was ovulation - I will let you know 🤞

Took this this morning second morning wee, hard to get a good photo and these tests are rubbish! The control line doesn't get very dark so to me in person the test line is just as dark as it should be but I don't know, I don't trust morning tests! 🙈😅 Will just test throughout the day today and see what happens!

More EWCM this morning too so maybe?.. although it was tinged with brown like pre-AF so I literally have no idea... Time will tell! I'm not going to test now until this afternoon so if it's lighter later I'm going to assume this was my peak?

So I’m testing morning and evening as I’m meant to be in my ovulation week. My morning one looked like this, strong line for the morning so keeping my fingers crossed for next week Xx

I've had so much EWCM today, I'm on a spa weekend with OH as a late birthday treat and although I'm soo glad to be seeing it's also really annoying 😂

I haven't tested again yet but something is definitely happening, whether I will actually ovulate or not is another matter 🤷🏼‍♀️

Just worried incase I ovulate don't DTD in time! Obviously won't be able to until tonight. I'm sure how soon after a positive opk and EWCM you're supposed to ovulate?

OPK still very positive today.. app saying today is ovulation day as i think it's based off your first positive, just googled and apparently it stays positive for a few days 🤷🏼‍♀️ DTD last night and this morning so feel like we've given ourselves a good chance if I do actually ovulate! Less EWCM today so I do think yesterday was my peak day. Haven't had any obvious ovulate pains etc but I never did when TTC the first time.

Any line progress @TSunshine?

Got my strongest OPK line today 0.44 and a few cramps 😂 A tiny amount of EWCM but hoping it’s a sign of things working! My ovulation peak is meant to be next Thursday so everything crossed xx

@TSunshine, I had a lovely time thank you, It was definitely needed! Although I feel much better now I have a better idea of what my bodies doing.. hopefully!

I read that your LH Level should stay elevated for at least 14-27 hours after a positive to allow the egg to mature so my body must be doing something right I hope! haha

Ooo That's definitely getting darker! I have a feeling you're on your way especially if the EWCM is starting to show.. mine started off very creamy then turned clear for the last day or two.

@Graceybaby It’s happening 😭 I tested this morning and I thought oh that looks a lot darker than usual- it was reading on the app as high. So I used a digital one and it says peak! I’m just so relieved my body appears to be ovulating. I’ve only had a small amount of EWCM but so happy I can at least try xxxx

I had some bad cramps and lower back pain yesterday afternoon so hoping it may have been ovulation and we did time sex just right Im slightly worried we left it to late but I guess you'll never know. OPKs are slowly getting fainter now.

@Graceybaby thank you! 😘 You know what I’m not sure, Flo says my peak ovulation day should be Thursday but I thought you could only have one peak? Maybe I should read the instructions on the digital machine 😂

Those are good signs! You DTD a few times too. Yes so glad are TWW’s are aligned. I’m impatient at the best of times 😂
