Hi all!

So I joined Mumsnet when ttc child #1 and found it lovely to talk to women in the same situation!

About me... my son has just turned 2 and I have been off the pill for around 2/3 weeks now.
I have started to track my periods and ovulation via apps, not specifically to help with conception but more so to know when to expect periods as I've been so used to knowing exactly when to expect a bleed!
Having said that, I was predicted to ovulate on the 15th feb so let's see what this month brings! Never expecting to fall pregnant so quickly after coming off the pill but I guess you never know hey.

Would love to hear from others in a similar situation ☺️

Hello, I had a similar situation for baby number two (we are now expecting baby number three). We were TTC for baby number one for ten months so I was expecting baby number two TTC to take a while but we fell pregnant on the first month off the pill (must have been literally the first try with the due dates 😊). Good luck for your baby number two 😃

MiaKay · 19/02/2022 20:12

Hi! TTC child No2 as well. My son is 8 months old and I've only had 3 periods so far, since he was born. Right now I'm feeling so nauseous and dizzy, but I tested today at 12DPO and it was a BFN so I have no idea what's going on. I just hope I'm not dying lol!

S0220 · 19/02/2022 20:14

@Pebble3 ah congrats on baby number 3! And how lovely to hear that number 2 happened so quickly for you. I'm trying not to focus too much on it, not put too much pressure on things and be relaxed about the whole thing but the feelings and emotions of TTC and the anxious wait is bringing back a flood of memories! 🤞🏽 thank you for your good luck wishes ☺️

S0220 · 19/02/2022 20:16

@MiaKay Ah sorry to hear it was a BFN today. You're still in with a chance! And I hope you're not dying too 🤣🤞🏽 feel better soon whatever it is ☺️

@S0220 lol! Fingers crossed for Monday! Update when you start testing too!

TTCBABYNO2xx · 19/02/2022 22:49

@S0220 hey lovely- My son is coming up 19 months old we have just started TTC baby number 2 got my coil out on the 1st feb and just went for it.. doubt i'll get pregnant first cycle with no even knowing when i ovulated but did fall pregnant first cycle last time 🙌🏽 xx

S0220 · 20/02/2022 09:35

@MiaKay fingers crossed for you! Let us know the outcome 🤞🏽 I'll be sure to update here too x

@TTCBABYNO2xx hey! Good luck to you! ❤️ hope we can share some positive stories soon!

I'm really trying hard not to symptom spot but it's so hard. I've woken up this morning feeling SO nauseous and bloated. My body aches and I also have a dry cough/sore throat. I'm secretly hoping these are all signs of something more positive (I remember having similar symptoms before, I did write them down and they're very much the same) but my son had a sickness bug this week so it could just be that I've caught that 🥺
Although doesn't explain my sore boobs though!

Ladies help me out a bit please...

I came off the pill around 2/3 weeks ago. Everywhere I read said that my period should happen around 2/3 weeks after coming off it. However, about a week after coming off the pill I had a bleed for around 3-4 days that resembled a period. I just went with it and assumed that it was that.
Based on that bleed, that I assumed was my period despite it being so soon after coming off the pill, I should have ovulated around the 15th feb. Making today 5dpo.

I've just this morning had yet another bleed. But it's bright red as opposed to the pinkish colour that implantation bleeding is reported to be.

Could todays bleed by my actual period or implantation? I'm so confused. The bleed a week after coming off the pill has really thrown me.

Thoughts anybody...? 🤔

OP posts:
TradedAtlanta · 20/02/2022 17:46

Hi OP - sorry to hear you've bled today. Some people do bleed red around implementation so it's possible... hard to know what your body is doing so soon after coming off hormonal contraception. We're on our second month of TTC number 2. DC1 is nearly 2.5. Should have ovulated a couple of days ago but I'm not sure I did - didn't notice any changes to my discharge. We weren't using hormonal contraception so it's just a case of DTD until we're lucky. I don't hold out much hope for this month as we've both been really stressed and I think that makes a big difference.

S0220 · 20/02/2022 17:52

@TradedAtlanta thanks for the reply!

I thought the same, that perhaps my cycles are going to be all over the place to begin with coming off the pill only 2/3 weeks ago. I guess it's just having two bleeds this month that has really thrown me. And I was convinced I was ovulating last week because my CM had increased massively.
I have been bleeding on and off all day today, definitely red though. I just feel SO different today, like it's really taken it out of me. I'm so exhausted.

Nice to hear someone in a similar situation though! I think if my bleeding continues the way it is, I'll be out for this month too and will have to try again next cycle. Fingers crossed for us both 🤞🏽🤞🏽

OP posts:
TTCBABYNO2xx · 20/02/2022 19:55

@S0220 ahh its so freaking confusing isn't it hun- i guess they say implantation bleed isn't bright red but who knows. Ive never actually had implantation bleeding before i just got cramping.

Hows your bleeding now does it resemble a period?? Im confused too ive had 2 bleeds this month too after coming off the coil 20 days ago! Xx

S0220 · 20/02/2022 20:27

@TTCBABYNO2xx it's such a mind f**k! 😂🤦🏽‍♀️

My bleeding is resembling more like a period sadly. Drops each time I go the toilet on my pantyliner (sorry tmi) but not heavy enough for a tampon. But the confusing thing is, my predicted day for ovulation was earlier this week and I had all the right symptoms for ovulation. What the hell?!

Minus the bleeding today, all the symptoms I have are reminding me of my symptoms before I tested positive with my first. I feel like I've been hit by a bus which is not typical. Im hoping the bleeding will magically stop or ease off by tomorrow as I have read that implantation bleeding can last a day or two. Clearly clutching at straws here!

OP posts:
TTCBABYNO2xx · 20/02/2022 22:28

Aw it so is- one min your planning the birth/names.. next minute your shouving a tampon up your fud like cool hun 🖕🏽

It drains your soul 😂 keep going though hang on in their let me know how your doing xx

S0220 · 21/02/2022 07:58

@TTCBABYNO2xx haha omg so true! That was me this morning unfortunately...def looks like my period so I'm out for the time being!
Although I do remember when TTC with my first, I came off the pill in the March, April was all over the place and then conceived in the May. So here's hoping next month with be the lucky one ☺️🤞🏽

How are you getting on?

OP posts:
TheBirdintheCave · 21/02/2022 09:32

Hi :) We're in our third month TTC our second. We have MFI (husband has low sperm motility) and it took 15 cycles (and very nearly IVF) to conceive our son who is now a boisterous 15 month old :)

Hoping desperately that it doesn't take this long again :/ We were told that it would be highly unlikely that we would conceive naturally and yet we did... I don't know if that means that the doctors were wrong or that we just hit the jackpot.

Either way, I'm 35 and really do not want to be much older when having another baby so we're considering going straight to IVF in the summer if we hit six months with no success still.

Currently 11/12dpo and had a negative FRER yesterday. Still no spotting or anything though so... maybe I'm not out? Probably wishful thinking.

S0220 · 21/02/2022 10:38

@TheBirdintheCave ahh how wonderful that you were able to conceive naturally after being told otherwise.

And you're not out until af arrives 😉 keeping my fingers crossed for you. 🤞🏽

And I feel you about having a boisterous 15 month old... mine has just turned 2, boisterous is an understatement! I've just turned 30 and had a bit of a reality check as my husband and I ideally want 3 children so we figured we need to get the ball rolling with number 2 really 🤣

Anybody taking any conception vitamins? I took Pregnacare conception vitamins with my first but this time trying the Seven Seas brand.

My husband is on Wellman and I've got the ones from Boots. I also take evening primrose and red clover before ovulation too.

Catred4 · 21/02/2022 11:29

Hi everyone, I'd love to join. My son is 16mo and we've just started TTC number 2. DTD last night with a peak ov test so 2WW starts today! When do you all think you'll start testing?

S0220 · 21/02/2022 12:05

@Catred4 oh how exciting for you! Fingers crossed during your 2WW 🤞🏽

No testing for me any time soon unfortunately. I'm out for this cycle, only came off the pill a few weeks ago so figuring my body needs a bit of time to re-adjust again. I'm hoping next month will be more positive ☺️

OP posts:
TheBirdintheCave · 21/02/2022 12:07

@Catred4 I've been testing since 8dpo because I'm a hopeless addict haha. All blank of course sigh Good luck for your 2WW! :D

Hi @S0220!
My first child recently turned 2 also, and me and my husband decided to start trying for baby no. 2. I came off the pill in October last year. I found it frustrating as that caused my periods to become irregular (something I've never experienced before).
I started using ovulation strips to confirm ovulation and I'm pleased I did as I was ovulating later than the FLO app was estimating.
I experienced a chemical pregnancy at the start of this year which was devastating, but such is life and I carried on...
I decided to do a test this morning as I was 21DPO and on cycle day 40 (although this isn't overly strange as my cycles have been all over the place). Got the shock of my life when it instantly turned a strong pink! Especially after recently experiencing a chemical pregnancy!

I'm very grateful and am keeping my fingers and toes crossed everything continues to go well. Am approx 6 weeks going by last cycle.

Wishing you all the best of luck with baby no. 2. Stay positive 🙂

S0220 · 21/02/2022 14:33

@Mumm1 Congratulations to you 🥰🥰
And thank you for being reassuring. I think I'm getting a bit too ahead of myself given I only came off the pill very recently so I need to give my body a chance don't I 😂 similar to you, I've never experienced irregular periods before either. So you can imagine my surprise having two bleeds this month!

I'll give things a bit of time to settle down and will consider ovulation strips too if things aren't progressing. So sorry to hear about your chemical too.

Wishing you all the best with everything 🤞🏽🤞🏽
As a fellow mum to a 2 year old, they sure aren't easy at that age (what age are they easy?!) so make sure you're allowing yourself plenty of rest where you can! X

Thank you. To be honest, I haven't really enjoyed "trying to conceive". I've found myself placing an enormous amount of pressure on myself and feeling very deflated when getting a negative result back. But being realistic, I needed to allow my body to readjust after the pill etc and after making the decision to try for baby no. 2 - I wanted it instantly! (Defo not realistic!)
My 2 year old has endless energy so I'm not sure how I'm going to cope with another!! I write this as I sit here pulling satsuma skin that he's decided to part-chew and then stuff into his toy car. Oh the joys!! 🤦🏼‍♀️ Hopefully he'll be potty trained by the time no. 2 comes along so that will make things easier.
Ovulation strips definitely helped me a lot as the app I was using was offering completely different dates. I bought some cheap ones off Amazon and they worked fine. They're not hard to use either.
Keep us updated on your journey 🥰
