Hi all,

This is my first post so sorry for any stupid questions!
We're TTC our first, currently on cycle 5.

I'm struggling to understand my OPK readings. For cycles 1-4 I used the expensive clearblue tests but no luck, so I wondered if I'd be better off with the cheapies. We're also trying the SMEP this cycle (as best we can).

My cycle is usually 32 days, with the apps advising O on cycle day 22.

I've attached a picture of this cycles OPKs so far, any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Sorry, can anyone help interpret what's going on with my OPK readings?

Cd11 looks close to peak, when you get a high reading you're off testing twice a day as sometimes the peak can come abs go quite quickly x

Thanks Belle, just confusing how it seems to be fluctuating so much. When I test in the evenings, I get barely any line at all!

It's almost as if I wake up with a relatively high LH level every morning and it disappears by the evening. God knows.... we DTD on CD8 and CD10 and will have another go this evening!

Are you testing with FMU? I think with cheapies you're not meant to so could be why if so? Although I usually do when I test twice a day and find it doesn't affect it too much, might be different for different people though

IslandGirl27 · 07/01/2022 18:42

God I just read the box and it literally says not to use FMU.

Thank you! You've saved me a few wasted OPKs!!

Will try test midday, same time each day!

OP posts:
MummyMe87 · 07/01/2022 20:00

Best time to test I read is between midday and 9pm on a hold of 4hrs

JurassicWorld · 07/01/2022 20:14

Definitely test 2-3 times a day (not FMU) when your tests start to darken and you should catch your peak 😃
Sometimes your body can attempt to ovulate once and fail (so you'll get high readings) and then it will try again a couple of days later so always keep testing even after hitting a high reading

IslandGirl27 · 07/01/2022 20:17

Thanks so much ladies!

I was driving myself crazy wondering what was wrong with my LH levels!

I'll be sure to test a lot later in the day and on a 4 hour hold. Thank god for this page otherwise I'd be wasting so many by testing with FMU every day Blush

Hi!

I've just got what I think is my first positive OPK!

Can someone take a look? I'm second guessing everything at the moment!

Thanks!

I am glad I stumbled across this because I too have been testing with FMU and getting weird results!! We’ve been doing SMEP to cover all bases luckily.

Also yes @IslandGirl27 that last one is definitely positive. I’ve never had one that dark so looks like a peak to me! Go go go

Bellesjp · 08/01/2022 16:33

Hi @IslandGirl27 yes that last one is def peak! So you should ovulate in the next day or so :)

We've also done the SMEP this cycle!! I'm so happy we did as I wasn't even using OPKs until too late in my cycle previously!

I've never had such a dark line so it's made me feel super happy.
We DTD last night, will again tonight and probably tomorrow morning to cover all bases Grin

Fingers crossed the SMEP works out for us both! What CD are you on?

@Bellesjp Thank you! I'll make sure to test again later this evening. Smile

So I did another test, with a 4 hour hold and this was the result. It seems to think my earlier one was the peak!

I'm on CD14 of a usually regular 32 day cycle so I'm guessing that makes sense!

Hello :) please can I ask what OPKs and app you are using? I’ve been using CB but thinking of switching after dodgy results. Thanks

IslandGirl27 · 08/01/2022 19:45

@Denguin I was using the really expensive CB advanced, but never had any luck after 4 cycles.

I'm now using the easy@home and the Premom app which scans them.

I just bought a pack of 25 on Amazon, can't remember how much but much cheaper than the CB ones!

Thank you, that’s helpful.

GingerbreadTM · 09/01/2022 01:32

Easy@home are around £18 I think on Amazon for 50 LH and 20 pregnancy tests. I'll attach a photo of my results so far, only started on Thursday and I hope I'm doing it right lol xx

@GingerbreadTM oh wow I'd definitely say you had a strong peak there around midnight on CD11!

Did you manage to DTD around the time of your peak?

OP posts:
GingerbreadTM · 09/01/2022 13:46

@IslandGirl27 I definitely did, I should've been sleeping at that time to be up for work at 6am but he was woke up 🙈🤣🤣🤣
I've DTD every night from CD 9 so here's hoping 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼xx

IslandGirl27 · 09/01/2022 14:28

Is this your first cycle TTC?

It seems we're not too far apart on our cycles!

Hey

Sorry to jump onto this thread, please can anyone tell me if this looks positive ? My last cycle that I conceived the positive was also on CD14 so it follows a trend but just want to be sure as I'm following SMEP Method again

@Coastaldreamer it's hard to tell from that picture, I've read that an OPK is only positive if the test line is as dark or darker than the control line x

GingerFox2021 · 09/01/2022 22:46

Glad I noticed this thread! My opks were showing weird results like yours @IslandGirl27. Low results day or evening about 0.40-0.48, but I want to believe it will go up suddenly one day like yours. I hope so. I’m on CD11.
From symptoms, I think usually I ovulate on CD13-15, but it’s the first time I’m using premom and its opks. I’m keen now to start testing 3 times a day just to see what’s happening.

IslandGirl27 · 09/01/2022 22:50

@GingerFox2021 I just did another couple today and they seem to be slightly confusing again! A higher result this evening than this afternoon, maybe that's normal. I'm not sure.

Keep testing, I was so surprised to finally see my peak, I'm sure you'll get yours too soon over the next few days! Keep me updated! X
