Preparing to TTC in 2022

WingingIt09 · 28/12/2021 22:39

DH has agreed to starting to TTC baby #3 in April/May. We already have a 2 daughters (age 4 and 2). I'm so excited to start trying! I think it's going to be a long wait until we can start actively trying!

Starting to think about things to do to help prepare my body. I'm currently on the progesterone only pill so thinking of when to stop it. I have 5 days left in this packet and then one packet left after that in my current prescription. Don't know whether to stop when I finishes this packet or at the end of Jan after my next packet. Any experiences of how long it takes cycle to regulate after the pill?

I need to try and eat healthier as I've been so bad recently with Christmas but I'm a healthy weight so not too worried there. Also ordered some TTC vitamins which I remember from previous pregnancies is good to take 3 months before TTC.

Anything else I could do? Is there anyone else who will be starting to try later in the year and so excited that you're already on here 🙈?

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful I can imagine they did come cheap! Keeping my fingers crossed for you that it works ❤
I will be 34 in April 😱 so even though there's times I'd rather avoid I knew I didn't want to wait another year to try. Really hoping it doesn't take long as I'm such a worrier

I'd love to keep this chat going and see how we all get on 😍 were not telling anyone that we're trying so it will be nice to have people to talk to about it!

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 06/01/2022 08:20

Thank you Dreaming, keeping everything crossed for you. Since turning 33 I have felt my clock ticking so loudly. Have to keep reminding myself that I probably have another 10 years of fertility ahead!

HippeePrincess · 06/01/2022 09:19

I’m 34 too and my clock is ticking loudly!

Sorry I’m terrible at tagging on my phone! …

Good news on the appointment availability @Amber17

We aren’t telling anyone either, I’m not sure what kind of reactions we’ll get to be honest, most people we know keep saying how great it is now the kids are getting older and more self sufficient etc and we’re going back to square one!

I really need to get on with the stuff I want to sort before moving but I’ve come down with some flu like illness and have no energy or motivation!

Springblooms08 · 06/01/2022 11:55

Hi all, can I join please? I’m 29 and hoping to ttc for the first time this year. We’re waiting until the early summer to start trying due to events/holidays and also I’m on some medications that I’ll be able to come off in the spring.

I came off the pill last summer in preparation but it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster in terms of not-so-fun post pill symptoms!

I slightly feel like I’m wishing the next few months away but I know that’s silly!

Sending good luck to everyone Smile

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 06/01/2022 12:03

Reversal is booked for 14th April so will start TTC in early May!

OCM19 · 06/01/2022 12:11

Welcome @Springblooms08.

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful that’s great news Grin

Dreamingof3 · 06/01/2022 12:19

Great news @vasectomyreversalhopeful

I think people just assume we're done with 2 and tbh I thought I would be but I've known for over year that I wasn't done. My partner recently took a lower paying job to be closer to home and so financially things will be a bit tight but a good budget should help 😅

bighev · 06/01/2022 12:32

@HippeePrincess I conceived my daughter at 34 and was one of the first of my friends, most had their first child at 35 or 36. I live in London and it seems to be the norm around here.

WingingIt09 · 06/01/2022 12:53

@Dreamingof3 haha I'm the opposite way round quite looking forward to a spring baby for that reason of having had autumn ones so far.

Everyone is expecting us to have a third as we've been quite open about wanting 3 children (we're both one of three). Keep getting he 'hoping for a boy' comments and questions but honestly I'm fully expecting another girl and I picture 3 daughters as my complete family so would be happy with that. Part of me would like a boy just to shut everyone up though! I got some really rude comments after my second daughter about how disappointed I must have been (I wasn't) so cba to deal with all that again!

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful that's exciting you're getting a date in!

@Springblooms08 yes welcome! I'm with you on sort of wishing the months away but at the same time my girls are already growing so fast and my eldest starts school in September so I don't want to wish away more time!

Dreamingof3 · 06/01/2022 13:03

@WingingIt09 we get the same! My partners nan actually said to me 'isn't it a shame she's not a boy though' when she came to visit our second 🙈
I cannot imagine having a boy, I definitely picture myself with 3 girls. If we were to have a boy I think I'd be petrified!
We also no longer have contact with my father in law and he was very big on having a boy to 'carry on the name' so I would like to have another girl just to spite him 🤞😅

OCM19 · 06/01/2022 13:16

I know a lot of us on this thread are only just starting our TTC journey, but is anyone else struggling to concentrate on other things and obsessing with planning things for the TTC journey…or is it just me Blush

Sassy144 · 06/01/2022 13:35

@OCM19 I can't think of anything else 😖

OCM19 · 06/01/2022 13:42

@Sassy144 glad it’s not just me! I’ve been so unproductive so far today.

Dreamingof3 · 06/01/2022 13:46
@Sassy144 glad it’s not just me! I’ve been so unproductive so far today.
Me 😅 spend my days looking at baby name lists, planning how many weeks I'd be depending on when we conceive, and shopping for baby clothes (not actually buying!)

WingingIt09 · 06/01/2022 14:04

@Sassy144, @OCM19 so glad it is not just me. Im constantly looking up baby related things and thinking about due dates in relation when we would conceive...

@Dreamingof3 haha my DH aunt made a comment about we could always try again BEFORE my daughter was even born 🙄 what is the obsession with having one of each?

OP posts:
Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 06/01/2022 14:09

I was like that with my first. This time I am trying not to get too excited as I know the chances are lower.

HMFx · 06/01/2022 14:23

Exact same over here @WingingIt09 @Sassy144 @OCM19 and @Dreamingof3 !

You don't even want to know about my obsessive Pinterest board with all different things for my non existent baby!!!! I'm mental and have been so unproductive the past few days. Glad it's not just me though haha Smile

Amber17 · 06/01/2022 14:25

@OCM19 omg yes. Trying to justify looking at baby stuff online as just checking to see what goes into the january sales and what doesn't so I know whens best to buy next year... Only thing I actually ordered was a book so at least I can feel like I'm doing something useful to prepare!

WingingIt09 · 06/01/2022 14:25

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful you would think with this being my third I might be less obsessive but nope 🙈

YES this is me since being back at work this week Blush working out what vitamins to take when…looking at due date calculators for different months of conceiving. I need to stop!
hevann · 06/01/2022 14:58

@OCM19 I am really obsessing over it too! We already have names picked, I know which pushchair/travel system I want! I'm constantly looking at baby things! It's crazy. I think because I've waited so long to be in a position where we can actually start trying my brain is in over drive now! x

@WingingIt09 I hope you're symptoms subside quickly, I really am dreading what I might get. x

@Vasectomyreversalhopeful that's great news that you have had the date confirmed! x

WingingIt09 · 06/01/2022 15:00

I quite like this calculator as it shows you rough idea of fertile window and resulting due dates for next 6 months based on date of LMp and cycle length

Vasectomyreversalhopeful · 06/01/2022 15:09

If I let myself get my hopes up I would go crazy researching pushchairs etc. Have a pretty good idea of the name I want if a girl

Dreamingof3 · 06/01/2022 15:23

That's a good one @WingingIt09 !
Will add to my list of things to constantly check🤣

DanisEndo · 06/01/2022 15:24

Hi could I please join you!

We're 25 and 26 and planning to TTC our first in summer of this year, we're currently going through the process of selling our flat and buying a house and agreed once we're in and settled I'd get my coil removed. We wouldnt be telling anyone to try and minimise any pressure but I would love somewhere to chat about it other than my partner (am sure i'll bore him soon!)

I have pretty sever endometriosis so am a little scared of having my coil removed and feeling the full force of periods again... so hope then we can conceive quickly although have the same fear you've all mentioned that it just wont happen.

Also have some weight to loose over the next 6 months to prepare myself for trying! Also find myself completely obsessed and distracted with anything baby related :') I've been 'ready' to try for a while but now DP is on board it feels like a whirlwind that i just want to plan to the T but i know life doesnt work that way.

Thinking I'll start folic acid and vit D in March / April and then try and set a date for getting the coil out as ive seen there are some big delays and waiting lists at the mo which is a little worrying...

Excited to find a thread to join though!! Think 2022 is going to be a busy/scary/amazing year! Glad to not feel alone with all this :)
